This was quite fun but a Long read tbh and I felt like will I even finish it lol?

I have had so many starts with this book but every time i would reach a certain page and left it only to be back years later and yesterday I wanted to finish it and kinda did and wow this took forever to finish feels like, it has got so much text and has interesting ideas and is very deep and some good moments and it is regarded as some of the best graphic novels out there and I can see it.

So the story takes place in 1985 and over the course of the book we learn of the world and the heroes here aka the Watchmen and their predecessors and each issue gets into the mind of different characters like I loved the way the author explored Rorschach, such an interesting character and you get to see his warped views on the world and how extreme he can be and then his friendship with Nite-owl was so fun. I loved that and the character of Dan is so complex and you can see him being a trigger in so many ways and he in many ways is the one who finds the mystery which is the core of the book and I love it and he maybe my 2nd fav character in the book.

What starts as a murder mystery into the Comedian becomes something huge and when the revelation happens as to who it was (view spoiler)

The main character for many people will be "Dr. Manhattan" and he is such a fascinating character omg, like from his origins to thought process to almost this god who has lost in touch with humanity, he is perfectly so flawed and that's the best way to describe and his actions in a way force you to think "could he have stopped it?" "is he a culprit as much as the above person?" and the thoughts of it are more intriguing and considering what he did in Doomsday clock well in a way it answers itself.

SO in a way the book is very intriguing with amazing character work and yes there are a lot of backups and too heavy on the text but those build out the world in fascinating ways and lays the groundwork for a lot of stuff to come later on. There is such a big meta commentary here and this is the book that changed comics forever and heralded into what some will say "dark age of comics" and its important in so many ways. As for the art it maybe the best ever, each panel is so detailed and well drawn and you can feel the artist giving it his all and it maybe his best work (though I like Kingsman and GLC more). But I will say do read it for sure!!
