the forest of enchantments by chitra bannerjee is another book based on ramayana which talks about women from ramayana.
Glad you liked it.. yes you should definitely try Forest of Enchantments by Chitra Bannerjee. it's Ramayana from Sita's point of view.
There are different versions of the ramayana in various regions of India, but the main plot line remains same. You should definitely read about it . There are many festivals celebrated in India surrounding ramayana, the biggest one being Diwali.😇

Brittany: 'valmiki's ramayana' is the main source of the story of ramayana , most other books are retellings : like 'forest of enchantments ' and 'asura: tale of the vanquished'. As it is, most of us Indians know the ramayana from bedtime stories or TV serials. There is also the Ram Chandra series by Amish Tripathi , but it's not a fav of mine, maybe you'll like it?

Thank you!
Thank you!
You should definitely check out Sita by Devdutt Patnayak, it’s a feminist retelling from Sita’s perspective. Really wonderful!
If you liked this, you should get your hands on palace of illusions.. that’s Mahabharata but from the view point of a female lead. Absolutely brilliant!!
I would say , this book is far far far away from actual story . Never ever Ram (who is worshiped in India ) have ever used word like whore for any woman or never ever Dasarath broke his vow . He was know to keep his promise . Book says it is reimagined but it is disgraceful to say something so wrong on any tangent .
