I have read 3 good series back to back and I wonder if my good fortune is going to run out. I imagine the world will try to balance it out by making my next 5 books awful.

This book was amazing! Our heroine is one vicious criminal who is trying to find who killed her mother. Unfortunately, in the process of doing so, she loses someone really important to her which makes her retreat into herself. Then a new lead appears and she decides to be done with it once and for all but all is not as it should be.

She meets the General of the kings army and he agrees to train her in his fighting style, then she discovers he is from another kingdom, a kingdom that veiled and locked so no one gets in and out. She is curious about why he is here but her focus is on her new lead. She is trying to find the people stealing young children from her syndicate and her lead is the crown prince but she has been warned not to contact him again if not she will lose more of the people that are important to her like she did that last time.

Scarlett, our heroine, is stuck. Every time she tries to make her own choices she is chained by others, she suffers in her despair and even though she is among the best killers in her syndicate she cannot find her way out of the darkness. As she trains with the General, she starts to rely on him more and more and he promises to help her find those responsible for killing her mother.

As I said I enjoyed this book, I saw a review that compared it to ACOTAR but I wouldn't know because I tried reading the first book of that series and was so bored I had to stop. I'll admit this book was a bit repetitive but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
