After a strong start that focused equally between an interesting cast of characters and theme, the theme took over completely by the halfway point of this 450 page book. No growth or emotional development of the characters but instead cardboard stereotypes. No real plot but instead a reportage-like enhancement on the theme of abuse of power. The book went from interesting to dreary and repetitive. I had the impression Aswany already wrote this visualizing it as a soap series rather than focusing on the art of language and literature.

Yes it’s repetitive. Yes Deida has a premise that you can read in just one page and everything else is stretching that premise and analyzing it from all angles. But the thing is, when you read this book at the right moment on your personal development journey, then all of that doesn’t matter because the premise is really important and the repetition hammers it into your subconscious. And being a superior man and living that way is absolutely wonderful. My soulmate and I have an amazing connection, two shamanic practitioners that found each other later in life; we have an amazing sex-life, we can’t keep our hands off each other for the 3 years we’ve been together, and still learning to own the way of the superior man brought an even more intense depth to our already amazing and fulfilling sex life. So I personally gained from this book just like I did from his other book Intimate Communion.
