I definitely wish I could have read this in the original japanese, because there were times when the translation felt a bit...clunky? not necessarily in and of that the translator didn't do a good job, but just in and of that certain things maybe didn't translate very smoothly, and so sometimes the writing felt awkward in a way I imagine it wouldn't have in the original
that said, it was still very worth a read, and I really liked the way everything intertwined and overlapped, and the way the relatively low stakes were given so much dignity and treated as important. it felt like the author really respected their characters' struggles, and gave them—and by extension the reader—so much grace, and that was just really lovely to read...more
