The first book was an eye opening experience for me in regards to what the life of a super model is like. While there were some moments in the first book that my brows went up to my forehead, nothing really shocked me. And let me note for the record, I'm not that kind of girl that's easily shocked. In fact, I liked the direction the first book was taking. This book...was a bit out there.
So, I'll start with where things left off in the first book. Katie's step-father, Daniel, whom she was in love with, passed away and now things are bit unsettled among the family. Katie is set to inherit some of his estate and his biological daughter, Caroline, is having some trouble with that. They head over to France to get things settled and there Katie meets Victor. It's clear that they have some pretty intense chemistry from the start, but Victor has some interesting ideas on relationships. He's definitely into Katie, but he also wants her to help him build his business. His business...basically a secret sex club that's on a yacht. There's an abundance of drugs and every sexual fantasy you can imagine. While, Katie is familiar with a lot of this, some of the things she experiences are new to her. Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like she struggled a bit with some of the bizarre. She really cares for Victor and vice versa, but yet they have these massive orgies. I think that's the part I struggled with the most. If you truly love someone, why would you want to share them? So, are they really in love? I suppose we shall see. Victor wants to take their relationship to the next level, but someone from her past resurfaces and I think Katie's going to have to make some tough decisions.
I have to point out that not all the sex was all that out there to me. The first time Katie and Victor are together was pretty damn hot. And I admit, the scenes between Katie, Emily, and men were pretty incredible. I think it was because there was an intimacy involved in those scenes that made it appealing. I also admit that there was a part of me that hope that Katie would end up with Arnaud.
I suppose I could go on more about the details of the book, but I feel like my mind is a blur of sex, drugs, and orgies. There were threesomes, holes filled in every available slot, and even some girl on girl action. Seriously, it was intense. So, how can I rate it a 4? Here's why...I still feel some compassion for Katie. I think she's a good person who got stuck in this chaotic life. She wants to be loved and wants to love someone completely. Plus, I'm still totally fascinated by this lifestyle. It's so far out of the realm of my reality, so it's interesting to me. I'll definitely read the next book. I need to know where things will go from here. If you're looking for a true Erotic Novel and you have an open mind, check this series out! ...more
I really enjoyed the Marriage to a Billionaire Series, so I was anxious to get started on this spin-off series. I had hoped this would be Wolfe's bookI really enjoyed the Marriage to a Billionaire Series, so I was anxious to get started on this spin-off series. I had hoped this would be Wolfe's book, but I still enjoyed getting to know Kate and Slade. They were fun, sweet and sexy!
Kate's down on her luck with guys. Ironically, she owns a match-making company. Kate has a knack for helping people find their true loves. Let's just say she gets a special spark when she finds a true match. She just hasn't found her own spark...yet. When she takes on new client, Jane, everything in her world shifts. Not because of Jane, but Jane's brother Slade.
Slade's not too keen on Jane using a match-making service to find a guy. He's got a really bad view of love and marriage to begin with. He's a divorce attorney, but he's also experienced his own failed marriage. So, he feels like he needs to nip this match-making in the bud fast. He wasn't expecting to find someone like Kate.
Can you take a guess at what happens? Yep, she gets her own spark when she meets Slade. He's everything and nothing like she expected her match to be. He's skeptical about relationships in general, whereas Kate wants it all. However, they can't deny the chemistry they have. It takes time for them to work through all their reservations about getting involved with each other, but I will say that the anticipation of them getting together was worth the wait. They had some really tasty heat!
Overall, I enjoyed it. It was a fast weekend read for me and I am looking forward to the next book in the series. And I appreciated seeing the other crew and I'm even more anxious now to get Wolfe's book! I think it's going to be fantastic!!! If you're looking for something with some fun and steam, check this out!

IFinding Cinderella was an absolute pleasure and such a great addition to one of my favorite series. I was completely consumed by this short novella. I've always liked both Daniel and Six individually. Together...perfection. I have to say that I was a bit surprised at the pairing at first, but after seeing their chemistry, it was unavoidable. Their story was fantastic and I know Hoover didn't plan on writing more about them, but I think she should! Finding Cinderella wraps up nicely, but I think Daniel and Six have more to share, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for more. If you're a fan of the Hopeless Series, you must pick this one up!

I have to say that I was curious about Nick and Willow from the first book. I had a feeling that there may be something going between them. Turns out I was right. So, now here we are with this fiery couple. The story starts out with Willow and Nick meeting to negotiate on a property that Nick owns. Willow wants the space for her catering business. Well, Nick just wants Willow. So, he's going to play a little hard ball with her. He tells her he'll agree to leasing her the property if she agrees to go on dates with him. Willow wants the space bad enough that she agrees. Of course, it's not really a hardship to date a sexy guy, but these two have a history.
I think the fact that they had history is what I liked the most about this couple. We get bits and pieces of what happened between them and what caused their break-up throughout the book and honestly, I would have loved seeing flashback bits of them. But, I also appreciated the focus on the relationship in the now. They've both grown so much and well...they're older and more mature. Nick is definitely more prepared to balance a relationship and his career. And Willow, she's more settled and more independent. The timing may have been off for them in the past, but one thing is certain; they have a connection that can't be denied.
Overall, I really enjoyed Game For Trouble. Nick is one yummy dude and there were a lot of ways that I could relate to Willow. I loved seeing Jared and Sheridan again too. I love that they're all best friends. I'm also anxious to get to the next book in the series. I think it's going to be a good one! If you are a fan of steamy romance, check this series out!...more
First impression: I adored the first two books in the series, but I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about this one. I do love the new covers of First impression: I adored the first two books in the series, but I have to admit that I was a bit nervous about this one. I do love the new covers of the series.
The story: Throughout this series, Grace and Jack have had their struggles. They're both in the entertainment industry, there's an age difference and they've had to be apart for long periods of time. But, they've somehow made it through and always with a sense of humor.
In this book, their relationship starts off on solid ground, but the newest set of obstacles heads their way. The biggest challenge they face is that they've both become famous and they're still trying to hide their relationship from the public. The struggle to balance their fame and their love was harder than they thought it would be. I certainly had panicky moments when I wasn't sure if they could pull it together!
The characters: I have always loved both Jack and Grace. Grace is the kind of girl I would love to be friends with. She has flare, but she's also very real. I was happy for her in this book, that she finally achieved some success in her career. I was also happy to see that in the end, she stayed true to herself. She also had to make some tough decisions regarding her relationship with Jack that I thought were commendable.
I can't believe I'm actually going to say this, but Jack hurt my heart a bit in this book. His level of fame really got to him and he began making some questionable choices. He had moments of sweetness, but he just wasn't the same Jack I had originally fallen for. It makes me so sad to say that.
What didn't work for me: I was a bit surprised that this book lacked a bit of the humor I had fallen in love with in the first two. There just wasn't much witty banter between them. And their sexy scenes lacked a bit of their magic.
I also found myself a bit irritated with the press releases. I don't mind a few here and there, but there were chapters that were taken over by press releases. I wanted more of Grace and Jack. I didn't want to see their relationship playing out in press releases and that's how it felt to me.
As I mentioned above, I was upset with the change in Jack's character. It just seemed like such a drastic change and it was hard to adjust. I understand that a dramatic element was needed, but it hurt to see a character I loved so much making horrible choices.
Overall: Even with the things that bothered me, I did enjoy it. I'm so happy that I found this series a few years ago. It truly is one of my favorites and I was pleased with how it wrapped up in the end. If you like sassy, funny and sexy romances, check out this series!

There were some things I was expecting, but there was a whole new element to Jacobs story that I enjoyed. Then there was the heat. Oh boy, was there heat!
I'll admit that I wasn't a huge Jacob fan in the first book. However, I was open to the possibility that he may redeem himself. And in His Ever After, he did. I enjoyed getting to know him a bit better. It helped me understand why he made the decisions he had in the past, but we also see a whole new side to his character, that I really liked. I will say that I was ready to see him close the chapter on his obsession with Samantha. She was happy in her marriage and he needed to let her go.
His relationship with Brooke was way complicated. I was surprised by how that part of the story played out. I wasn't expecting it. And in some ways, feel like it come on abruptly. But, it also gave a broader opening to put Jacob with the person he was really supposed to be with.
Kara and Jacob have known each other for a while, because Kara was friends with Brooke. The "situation" with Brooke, brings Kara and Jacob closer together. I really liked Kara, which kind of surprised me, because I don't usually care for timid characters. But, I loved the way she was able to draw Jacob out of his gloom and make him really see that he was capable of loving and be in a healthy relationship. They both helped each other heal too. I also loved that Kara became close to Jacob's sister and her kids. It was so sweet. I was really happy with Kara and Jacob being together.
The heat level was hot, but in a different way than the first book. The first book was crazy HOT! And it was also forbidden sex. In this book, Jacob and Kara had hope for a future together. Even if it didn't start out that way, that's how it was. There was chemistry and a deeper connection between them. It was pretty great!
Overall, I enjoyed His Ever After. I was glad to see Jacob move on and find happiness. It was great to see Samantha and Aiden again too. I was glad to see them happy. If you're in the mood for an intense and sexy read, check this one out!...more

I waited to read Connected until I had TORN in my hands because I had heard that there was a pretty big cliffhanger. And I have to say, I'm glad I did have TORN in my hands. There is a lot I liked about TORN, but it was also intense and frustrating for me.
I liked Dahlia in the first book and that remained true into and through this book. While a lot of truths are coming to light that challenge her relationship with River, I felt like Dahlia handled it all really well. She had faith in her relationship with River and was ready to move on with their lives. Dahlia has been through a lot in the past few years. She's dealt with grief, deception and deep depression. When River came back into her life, it gave her hope and peace. She finally understood what love was supposed to feel like.
As for River, I've really liked him throughout too. I'll say that there were times in this book where he made me a bit nervous. He reveals more about his past and his relationship with his father. While I didn't feel like he feared he would become his father, I think he wanted to be better and not make the same mistakes. River wants to be the man that he thinks Dahlia deserves. The lifestyle he lives isn't what he would have chosen for his life. He loves music and enjoys being a part of that life, but he truly wants to settle down and build a family with Dahlia. River is a really great guy.
Now I get to the hard part. I will do my best not to divulge any spoilers and I hope you can get an idea of what I'm talking about without me getting too detailed. Ok, here goes. So, there is a huge cliffhanger in the end of the first book. This cliffhanger involves someone from Dahlia's past coming back into her life. And he wants her in his life for good. This person was so frustrating and unlikable for me. There were many, many times that I literally had to set my kindle down. He's selfish and arrogant, but the biggest issues I had with him were that he has built a life based on lies and I never really felt like he was truly remorseful. This person will have a role to play in the series down the road and I did feel that near the end, I could see where readers may have some empathy for him, but I wasn't impressed with him and am honestly not sure I'll even read his story. I think I just felt a little disappointed with the direction this one went. I would have been happy with him not coming back into Dahlia's life. I think there could have been just as much drama. The twists, turns, and the ties that bind them all together could have still been there and I liked that part, but I just didn't need him to be there. Make sense? Maybe not and I feel a bit rambly, but I had to voice this frustration.
Overall, I liked it and I tried focusing more on Dahlia and River's relationship. The ending was great. I also loved getting to know River's family more. I'm excited to see where Xander's story will go. He's a complicated guy and I'm sure there will be lots of heat and drama with him. Despite some of my frustrations with the direction this story took, I do recommend the series. But, be prepared; this series is heavy angst. Yes, there are some truly great romantic and sexy moments between River and Dahlia, but it is among my more intense reads.
Side note: The covers are beautiful, but they don't fit the description of Dahlia. It drives me a bit batty.
Quotes: ~When he tugs on the string around my back, my bikini top falls to the ground. I twist my head around and joke, "What? You want more?"

Little Gavin is all grown up. Not only has he grown up, but he's in looove. I kid you not, from the second I opened this book, I was laughing. The penis loving kid from the Seduction and Snacks series has grown up and found the love of his life. The issue? Well, it's Charlotte, who happens to be Jen and Jim's daughter. They've grown up together, have experienced the embarrassment of having crazy parents together, and well...they're in love. But, neither one of them know that.
I love Gavin. Opening the first half of the book with Gavin was genius. I've always wondered what would happen with Gavin as he got older. He's always been a bold, honest kid. Now...he's not sure how to act with the one he loves. He and his friend Tyler come up with a list to win Charlotte over. Not only does the plan fail epically, but Charlotte has her own agenda to win Gavin over. Their relationship is awkward, funny, and yet...very sweet.
Overall, I was thrilled to have Gavin's story. I really felt like it needed to happen. And, I'm happy that the love is staying near and dear. I really want to see Tyler and Ava's story next. Ava is Jen's second daughter and she's a tough chick. She is "in your face" honest. You have to respect that. It was great to see the S&S crew again too. I'm anxious to see this series grow and see how the gang will adjust to having their kids fall in love. Check this one out!

This girl! I mean...there hasn't been a Caldwell man that I haven't liked yet, but I was curious about Flynn. What I found with his story was a really kind, patient, giving, and yes, super sexy guy! I'm definitely happy that we got his story.
I liked having a little bit of background on him going in to the story. He lost his high school girlfriend in a house fire, hence leading him into a life as a firefighter. He has the tendency to want to save people. Especially women. As a result, he's often been taken advantage of in relationships. So, when he saves Rowan while on the job, he can't help but want to help her out. The circumstances surrounding her situation were shady and a bit dangerous, but Flynn felt like there was something different, unique about Rowan and he wanted to know more about her. He invites her to stay with him while she gets back on her feet. Naturally, feelings and attraction grow, but Rowan has her own set of issues to overcome and she's not quite ready for what Flynn has to offer.
Rowan was...frustrating for me. She ran away from home when she was eighteen and didn't have a very good relationship with her parents. The result was a girl who felt unloved and reluctant to let herself feel for others. She worried she didn't know how to love because she wasn't sure what it felt like to be loved. So, I understood all of that, but Flynn was the perfect guy and she repeatedly led him on and then pushed him away. I understood the first time it happened, but after that...she needed to be smacked. By the end, I was happy that she finally let Flynn into her heart, but boy did it take a while.
A few little extras that I loved in this one were the love they had for Rowan's dog, Capone. While the fire introduced them to each other, I felt like the dog brought them together. I also loved the relationship that Nix and Rowan had. It was like a sibling relationship and it made me laugh. Seeing Flynn interact with his cousins and sister was pretty special for me too. I love this group.
Overall, I really enjoyed Off Chance. The ending and the epilogue were exactly what I needed to wrap their story up. I absolutely loved seeing past characters. Nix is my favorite in the entire series and I was happy to see plenty of him in this book. I also loved getting updates on Linc, Ryan, and Renner too. This whole group is great and I'm hoping we will get at least a few more books in this series. If you haven't started this series yet, definitely check it out!

From the minute I opened the book, to the very last page, I was on the edge of my seat rooting for this couple to pull through their heartache. It was a bittersweet ending to a series that I'll hold dear.
I've loved Christian from the start of the series. Yes, he's made some bad choices, but he always comes back to correct his mistakes. He's devoted to his family and he loves passionately. I really felt for him in this book. He felt helpless with Elizabeth, but was also dealing with his own grief. He desperately wanted to heal his family. Some may argue that Christian should have done more, but like I said, he was dealing with loss in his own way too. But, I think what matters is that he never gave up on Elizabeth or their love for each other.
Elizabeth. My heart was breaking for her. Just when she thinks she will have her happily ever after, the rug is pulled once again. Elizabeth is lost in a hole so deep and she can't seem to pull herself out. She places blame on Christian instead of dealing with her depression. While my heart hurt for her, there were times I got frustrated with her. There is a point in the story where her family confronts her and I was cheering. No, I can't imagine what it would be like to suffer a loss like she did, but she really needed to pull herself through the grief or get help. She had a daughter to care for and a man who wanted to be there to support her through this time, but she couldn't see through the pain. Of course, she does ultimately heal, but it takes time and some harsh realities.
I could say more, but if I did, I feel it would reveal too much about the story. Overall, I really enjoyed it, despite the emotional turmoil. I was thrilled with the ending and I'll admit I was in tears through both epilogues. Elizabeth and Christian's journey hasn't been easy, but it showed that this couple was truly meant to be together. Did I need this book to complete their story? No, because I was happy with where things left off in Take This Regret. However, I appreciated seeing how they handled real life challenges as a couple. These two have grown a lot. I'll miss them.
If you haven't read this series yet, I highly recommend it. It's not easy and it will make your heart ache, but if you're a romantic like me, you'll cherish the love that's created.

Not only do I feel like I know him better, but now I'm anxious for the spin-off series so I can see what happens with him!
Enzo always been the wild one of the bunch. He lives to surf and claims to have a 'plan'. But, now things are changing. His siblings and friends are getting married and he's craving something more of his own. So, when he meets Jessica, he thinks she may be the one. He's never felt like this for anyone before. The problem is that Jess is holding him at arms length and he can't figure out why.
So, here are my thoughts on the situation. Enzo just might be a favorite for me. I just like him. He has a great sense of humor, he's a good dancer, and he's just plain sweet. I think Enzo craves someone to love. He's at that time in his life where he needs to find his place. Get settled a bit. I mean, he's still young, but it's time for something more. I think with Jessica, he did care for her. However, I also felt like he wanted there to be more. Not to say he was forcing something, but he was definitely looking for more than Jessica could give him. Of course, she has her own secrets, which pretty much destroy anything they had anyway. And honestly, I was glad. While I enjoyed the steamy moments between them and getting to know more about Enzo in the process, I never felt she was the right fit for him.
Overall, I really liked this novella. Enzo is really a special guy and I'm glad that he will get another book. I loved the sneak peek at the end of the book. I think I'm going to like Jordan, who appears to be the female MC. I loved seeing the rest of the crew in this one too. Cohen and Maren's wedding was perfect and the guys, as usual, made me laugh. This is a great series and I highly recommend it if you haven't started it yet.

Somewhere that's mine, and not full of frustration of Cohen being more together, Lydia and Cece being smarter, or Genevieve having life fall into place so perfectly.
Somewhere that my happiness isn't based on a lie.

Not only was I excited about this new series, but I love friends to lovers stories. Dirty Trick was a fun and sexy read!
Ok, so Grace is a matchmaker, but hasn't been all that lucky in love herself. One bad relationship after another has left her feeling self conscious. She feels like she must be doing something wrong to cause these failed relationships. The only good relationship she has is with her best friend, Trick. He's a gorgeous SWAT officer, who's always had luck with the ladies. But, there's only one lady that Trick wants.
Trick finally decides to make his move on Grace after her most recent break-up. Now, here's where the drama comes in. He decides to make his move at a Halloween party. He wants her to see him in a different light. So, he wears a mask to the party. Of course, sparks fly between them and they find themselves in the throws of passion in the sauna at the party. Yet, Grace still doesn't know it's Trick. No good will come of that, right? Well, he can't seem to tell her the truth and the lie keeps building.
Here's the thing, I liked Trick and I liked Grace. I even liked them together. Their first time was somewhat awkward and rather sweaty, but still hot. They did have good chemistry and I think it's simply because they were such good friends going into the relationship. I was on board with all of that. What didn't work for me was the fact that Grace was so oblivious to the fact that her mystery guy was Trick. I dunno...it just wasn't believable to me. I think if you're around someone daily, you know their smell, their voice, their mannerisms, etc. Yet, Grace had no idea. Hmmm....So, while I don't think Trick's dishonesty was in any way ok, I still didn't have much sympathy for Grace when she found out the truth.
Overall, I did enjoy it. I think what kept my rating up was that I did like the characters. It was the way things played out that didn't work all that well for me. Although, I did like the ending. Of course, I also liked the sexy times, so that helped too. Christine Bell sure knows how to write a good sex scene. Even though this wasn't a favorite for me, it was definitely a fast, fun, and steamy read. I'll continue with the series for sure. I'm hoping Grace's friend Serena gets a book next! Dirty Trick would be a good weekend pick-up.

~"So the best way to change my opinion of him was to seduce me at a party, lie to me, and pretend to be someone else so he could get me into bed?"

I had added it to my TBR, but like many of us, it got lost in the bunch. Then, I got an invite to review the second book in the series and that gave me the reminder I needed!
I liked Rory pretty much right away. After the death of her mother when she was a child, her life changed. It's just been she and her dad. And well...Rory's been a bit sheltered. She's not naive though. She's never dated and didn't have many friends. When she got to college, she made friends with Kylie and Jessica. They've helped to open her up and encourage her to take some chances and enjoy college life. One of those chances comes in the form of Tyler Mann. He's rough, tough, and hot as hell. Also, the type of guy Rory thought would ever be interested in her. But interested and curious, he is.
Tyler was just plain sexy. He gives off a bad boy vibe and he's earned it. But, Tyler is also just a guy trying to figure life out. His home life has always been bad and he has two younger brothers that rely on him. So, Tyler struggles to make things work. He goes to school and works. When he meets Rory, he's curious to know more about her. Sure, he's seen her around campus and at parties, but she's quiet and honestly intimidates him a little. When he gets his chance, I think he was surprised to find out that he really wanted more of Rory, but he didn't feel like he was worth it. They come from different worlds, but they really did have a great connection. I felt like they really saw each other.
Of course, there was plenty of great sexual tension and steamy moments between Rory and Tyler. I appreciated the build up too. They didn't jump into sex. They really did fall in love. There was more depth to their relationship than just a physical connection. And I was so glad that they didn't give up on each other.
Overall, I really enjoyed getting to know Rory and Tyler. I was pulling for this couple to make it work despite the family pressures they had. And yes, the way they were brought together was less than ideal, but it quickly turned into something more for both of them. I loved watching it develop. The supporting characters were all great too. I loved Tyler's brothers and I liked that Rory became attached to them too. I was excited about picking up SWEET, because I wanted to know more about Tyler's brother Riley. If you're a fan of NA's, pick this one up.
Quotes: ~"Don't worry about me, Dad. I have plenty of time still to explore unhealthy relationships with self-absorbed jerks. I'm taking philosophy next semester so I have high hopes for that class."-Loc 477
~Because I was standing there, and for the first time, really, I felt like I was of worth, of value, to someone. I was comforting him and that made me feel important. That I had something to give.-Loc 1316

I picked this one up right after finishing TRUE. The tension between Riley and Jessica was magnetic. I couldn't wait to dive into their story. And, I I picked this one up right after finishing TRUE. The tension between Riley and Jessica was magnetic. I couldn't wait to dive into their story. And, I wasn't disappointed!
Jessica is a party girl. She likes having fun and she likes getting attention from guys. She lives her life opposite to how she was raised. Brought up in a strict religious home can be difficult. She doesn't want to be the minister's wife. She has dreams of her own. When she went away to college, she finally felt free to live her life. She has good friends and is enjoying her classes. Still, something is missing. She doesn't really have deep connections with anyone, because she doesn't let anyone really get to know her. But, when she makes the decision to stay on campus for the summer, her plans fall through and she needs a place to stay. Enter: Riley Mann.
Riley is frustrating, sexy, and exactly the kind of guy Jessica needs. He won't put up with her crap and he sees something more in her. He sees how she battles with being the person she wants to be versus the person she is expected to be. He knows how kind and caring she can be when her walls are down. As Riley and Jessica prep for his custody hearing, they really get to know each other. They also want each other, badly. But, Riley won't give in to Jessica so quickly. He wants to win her heart, gain her trust, and show her that he can be a guy she can depend on. I absolutely loved that Riley forced their physical relationship to go slow. That's not to say there weren't some steamy moments, because there were plenty, but it was a slow burn.
Rory and Tyler were in the story a bit, but not much. In those moments, I loved seeing how their relationship was doing. It made me miss them. One of the side stories that was developing had me curious for the next book. It involves Jessica's friend Robin and Kylie's boyfriend. There were some shady things going on there and it will surely rock the group. In the sneak peek at the end, we do learn that the next book will be about Robin and a new Mann. It's a cousin and I can't wait to meet him!
Overall, I really liked SWEET. I was happy with the development of the characters and I adored the ending. After I finished, I was trying to decide which Mann brother I would pick and it was a tough call. If I could have a combo of Tyler and Riley...I'd be one happy girl. This is definitely a series worth picking up!

Unspoken was a great example as to why I love NA Contemporary Romance. There was passion, romance, and just enough drama to keep my heart thumping. ThUnspoken was a great example as to why I love NA Contemporary Romance. There was passion, romance, and just enough drama to keep my heart thumping. The strength of this book was in the characters. Bo and AM's relationship made this a special book for me.
When I first met Bo in Undeclared, I was intrigued to say the least. He was a bit difficult to read, but I also only got to see little bits of him. In this book, we learn more about this smoldering hot guy. He grew up in a wealthy home, but it was an unhappy home. He was a popular athlete in high school, but his best friend was from the wrong side of town. Together they formed a lifelong friendship. After high school, Bo and Noah enlisted in the Marines. After a few tours, they returned home and went to college. While Noah had his reasons for ending up at Central, Bo was just along for the ride. He's been satisfying his adrenaline needs with fighting and women. But then he meets AM. She's very different than any girl he's pursued before. Her apparent lack of interest in him makes him want her even more. As he gets to know more about AM, he finds that he wants to take care of her, be with her, and show her how special she is. Sure, I loved Bo because he was a hot-tempered, sexy, flirt, but I fell in love with him because there was more depth to Bo than I initially realized. He broke my heart a bit, actually. But, I also loved the way he cared for AM.
Luckily, I've never been bullied. Sure, I've had my fair of gossip spread about me, but never anything that I really gave much attention to. But AM, this girl's reputation has been decimated. And the sad thing is, that it isn't true and she's spent the past year in hiding. She goes to class, but isn't enjoying college life. One mistake, one mistake, made when she was a freshman put her in this position. The sad thing is that it was a typical college hook-up, but for some reason AM was targeted. She has a few friends, she does well in school, and she even has a job, but she tries to avoid campus life as much as possible. When she's partnered with the campus heart-throb for biology class, everything for AM changes. Bit by bit, Bo breaks down AM's defenses and she lets herself fall for and more importantly trust someone with her heart. Like Bo, I felt like there was more to AM. She's a rather complex character when I looked at the story overall. I felt for her and in some ways could even relate to her.
I have to mention the supporting characters. I was happy to see Noah and Grace again, but I really enjoyed getting to know their roommates a bit more in this book. I was excited when I realized that they will each be getting a book. I also really liked AM's best friend, Ellie. She was such a great friend to AM. She was supportive, honest, and really loved AM. She also had a bit of sass, which made me laugh.
Overall, I really enjoyed Unspoken. As I said before, the characters made this book special for me. Frederick's strength is her characterization. They are complex, sexy, likable, and relatable. I can't wait to see what happens next in the series! If you're looking for a new NA series to start, definitely check this one out!
Quotes: ~Bo was the poster child for every disaster that female singers warbled about. He'd break your heart and do it smiling. Worse, he'd make you think you were better off for having your heart broken because it was done in by him. -Loc 173

~"We need condoms for the heart."-Loc 2337
~"I'm going to tell you something." Bo reassured me, as if sensing I was tottering on the edge again. "I'm scared too, but neither of us are going to get what we want if we don't take a chance." "I want to take this chance with you," I admitted. I'd just done either the stupidest thing in my life or the smartest.-Loc 2441 ...more
At this point, I can safely say that Noah is my absolute favorite guy in this whole series. Which says a lot because I have mad love for Chris and LieAt this point, I can safely say that Noah is my absolute favorite guy in this whole series. Which says a lot because I have mad love for Chris and Liev. Maybe it's the whole Rock Star Drummer thing. Maybe it's the fact that Noah faces personal challenges on a daily basis. Maybe it's his incredibly hot sex appeal. Probably all of the above.
The book begins with the guys from Nick Blackthorne's band trying to figure out their next step. Nick has retired, but the guys don't want to split up. Plus, they have a contract to write a song for an upcoming movie. So, they need a singer. Now, these guys are veteran musicians. They're famous and can be intimidating. But, that doesn't stop shy Peppa. Plus, she can't keep her eyes off Noah.
The sexual chemistry between Peppa and Noah was crazy hot! Noah is quite a bit older than Peppa, but that doesn't seem to bother either one of them. And yes, Noah a famous Rock Star, so his life is public, but Peppa's dad was a music journalist and she knows quite a bit more about Noah than the average fan might. She admires him, idolizes him, and generally just wants HIM.
Noah isn't an easy guy to be in a relationship with. He has ADHD and it's affected his life in many ways. Becoming a drummer was a good outlet for him. It helps to keep him busy, but also quiets his mind. He's never been able to feel that with anyone, but Peppa seems to open him up more than anyone else ever has. Of course, they face some dramatic situations when both of their pasts come up, but they're able to make it through. I loved watching them fall in love and I loved watching their steamy scenes even more!
Overall, I really enjoyed Steady Beat. Unlike, Guarded Desires, which could be a stand alone, I feel like this one is best read as part of the series. It helps get a better sense of the band dynamic. And I have to say, I'm kind of in love with Sam. Luckily for me, his book is next! I hope the series continues with the others guys in the band too. They're all great! Definitely check this one out if you like hot Rockers, steamy sex, and true love!
Quotes: ~"I made out to you, Noah. The very first time I made out 'Tempest Soul' was playing on my CD player. The very first time I made out was to your eight-minute drum solo track on Nick Blackthorne's third album. The very first time a boy kissed me, I was thinking of you."-pg 34

Peppa's mouth grew dry. "What's that?"

Other than my birthday, Christmas is my very favorite holiday and I absolutely love reading Christmas stories. Christmas Carol got my holiday reading Other than my birthday, Christmas is my very favorite holiday and I absolutely love reading Christmas stories. Christmas Carol got my holiday reading started and I really enjoyed it! Set in Scotland, this charming holiday treat is perfect for a fast weekend read!
Carol's sister is getting married in a rural Scottish estate. Carol is the maid of honor and her ex is the best man. She's a bit nervous about how things are going to go, because she and her ex didn't end on the best terms. Plus, she never really had a clear understanding as to why they broke up in the first place. Then, there's also the added stress that a few of her other ex's are going to be there. I knew right away that she was in for an interesting weekend.
A bit about Carol; she's a workaholic and is in general very driven. I wouldn't say she's exactly warm either. Any of this sounding familiar? Her relationships have suffered because Carol has a bit of trouble letting people in. So, now that she's put in a situation where she must face her past, she plans to find out what went wrong in all these relationships. I loved getting to see small bits about her past relationships with each ex. It painted a clear picture of what those relationships were like. And, despite Carol's armour, I liked her. She just needed a bit of an eye opener. As for the guys, I was a fan of Robert's. He was really sweet and not at all what I was prepared for heading into the story.
Overall, I really enjoyed this modern spin on a classic holiday tale. Carol dealt with her relationship issues from her past, so that she could move forward and allow herself to be happy. I think it also helped her to realize what was really important. If you're looking for a short holiday read, check this one out! ...more

Not only did I love this book, but I loved it so much that I had thirteen pages of highlights! I loved the story and the characters. It was the perfect WIN for me!
I really liked Kiersten. I was a bit worried for her at times, but I appreciated that she took chances. Kiersten has suffered tragedy in her life and because of that, she's lived cautiously. But, it's her freshman year of college and her family and friends are encouraging her to enjoy it. Enjoy something. She never expected that something to be the campus heartthrob. Not only is he a King of the Campus, but his family is well known, but it doesn't really impact their relationship all that much. My point is that Wes is someone Kiersten never would have taken a chance on before. But, she's drawn to him and he makes her feel good. So, despite the rumors she's heard on campus, she goes after what she wants and she wants Wes.
Wes Michals has become a very special guy to me. He's charismatic, sexy, and becomes a really good boyfriend for Kiersten. Sure, he's been in relationships before, but the last relationship he had didn't end well and nearly ruined his reputation. Because of that situation, among other reasons, Wes is making some changes in his life. One the changes he's made is becoming a dorm RA. Coincidentally, he's Kiersten's RA. They see each other around campus, but having him as her RA opened the doors a bit more for a chance at a relationship with Kiersten. Wes' story took me a bit by surprise and was ultimately more complicated than I originally imaged it to be. And while there were times I thought my heart was going to explode, I was really really happy with how things turned out for Kiersten and Wes.
I absolutely have to mention Gabe. He's Kiersten's roommate's cousin, but he quickly becomes a friend to Kiersten AND Wes. He's protective of Kiersten and almost acts like a big brother to her. She needed someone like him looking out for her. I adored him and was THRILLED to find out that he's getting a book too. I just know he has a good story to tell. I also liked Lisa, the roommate. She was funny and a good friend to Kiersten.
Overall, I loved this book and can't recommend it enough. RUIN will definitely be going into my favorites column and it's made me want to read more of Van Dyken's books. If you haven't read this one yet, check it out!
Side note: I got to read most of this book with my Pal Valerie and I suggest a reading buddy for this one if you can. There are moments that you will need reading support!
