His latest task in India is certainly going to test his skills, it’s not always easy trying to keep someone safe, while there are so many set on killing you. Pierce is pushed to his limits in this latest book in this wonderful series. I’ve read every story and can’t rave enough about how good they are. I had to stop myself from skipping forward to the end to see what happened, and I’m glad that I was patient, as it was worth the wait. I’m amazed that Aiden Bailey can keep coming up with such great stories for Trigger Man, Mark Pierce. He’s a walking death machine, and not someone you want to upset. Tony “Red” Harmon was out shopping with his family when 3 men tried to mug him in the car park of Walmart. They really did pick the wrong man to mess with. He dispatched them with the speed and skill that bordered on the extraordinary. Although the police said that red was in the clear because it was self- defence, they are finding it quite hard to believe he’s just a building manager. While Red and his wife Lori are sleeping, a few men have come to the house and used knockout gas to try to take them both. However they only managed to smuggle Lori out, and leaving Red behind. Red’s old boss Colonel Jim Mayard turns up, and talks red back to the Airforce base to put a team together to track Lori down. When Red left the Air Force he was given a mind altering drugs and therapy to make him believe he was only a storeman. So on returning they again put him through the drugs to return as much of his memory as possible. To remind him he was a special operator, with a bit more skill and violence than just a storeman. Mossad have tracked Lori down to Iran, and the team take to the air to recover her. Red is amazed when they tell him how they plan to drop from the plane in single man capsules. Unfortunately Red’s drag chute didn’t deploy before he hit the river in Iran, and he sank to the bottom after being knocked unconscious. He’s lucky to wake up after only six minutes and make it to the surface. Once they all make it to shore, things really start to heat up, and the team see exactly how good Red is. It certainly doesn’t look like he has lost any of his skill from being away for six years. I was very happy when I read this is going to be a series of books. The Author has done a great job with the Characters, and there is plenty of action to make this a very pleasurable book. Definitely worth a read.

The characters are well thought out, and I especially like Landry Drake as the main character. Deputy Sheriff Landry Drake like everyone else that grew up in Louisiana knows about the terrible past of Victory’s prison nicknamed the Asylum, as it housed men that were criminally insane. It was only after so many of these men had died at the hands of the guards that the place was shut down. However, what Landry finds interesting is there had been 13 deaths at the Asylum since the place was closed down. Landry wasn’t really one to believe in ghosts or super natural beings, so someone was responsible for killing these people, and he is sure that person is still around waiting for their next victim. Susan Fox was trying to get her life back on track after leaving home at a young age, to what she hoped would be a better environment to live in. However, she soon found that no one was going to do her any favours and if she wanted to survive then selling herself to men was her only option. It was inevitable that drugs would play a big part in getting her through this difficult time, and it was with sheer will power that she was able to pull herself away from this downward spiral and make a fresh start. Now someone wants to drag her back into her former life and Susan isn’t going back without a fight. Another fabulous story to add to the many wonderful books that I’ve read by these two amazing Authors. 5/5 Star Rating.
