But enter 'The Fairytale Keeper: Avenging the Queen' by Andrea Cefalo and sure enough, I know hate the character of Cinderella. Well at least this book's version of Cinderella that is.
To be honest, I am a bit confused with this book. Maybe it has just be way to long since I have read a historical book. Not that this book wasn't right on with it's history. I couldn't find a fault with that, it was maybe just the old time way of life. You know things like.... Woman should be seen but not heard, you obey your father unless you want to be brutally beat, no sex before marriage.... you know things like that. I just kept waiting for the action to happen or even for it to be mentioned how a Queen was going to be avenged. After all, that is the title of the book. I completely understand how the fairytale's come in, they are easy for you to see, but where exactly is a Queen wronged in this book, that she needs to be avenged? Where is there even a Queen mentioned in this book? This maybe where I am confused. Because the title of the book, doesn't fit the story AT ALL. Well at least not the 'Avenging the Queen' part.

First off I want to thank Spencer Hill Press for generously providing me with an ARC copy of Cursed to review on my blog. I always have a great experience whenever I talk to anyone at Spencer Hill Press, you are all the very best.
Okay, onto the review.
Cursed by Jennifer L. Armentrout, while a good book (which is to be expected from one of the best up and coming authors in the past year or so in my opinion) did not blow me away however.
I have read both Half-Blood and Pure and have Deity (from her Covenant Series) to read as well as Obsidian (her Lux Series, yet to read). And from what I have read of them, they are all very strong books with a strong, well thought-out plot line and kick-ass characters. Cursed however was lacking a lot of these traits, which I have come to expect in Ms. Armentrout's books.
Don't get me wrong, it was a good book and a good start to what could be another interesting series by Ms. Armentrout, however, there just wasn't really anything in this book to really keep my attention. It was a struggle at first for me to even get into it, it wasn't until around chapter 6 that things started to move along at a pace that made me want to read more. But after awhile the plot line just seemed to be on repeat. Ember distrusted the people that she was living with, the other "special" kids were all weary of her and only Hayden was there to try and help her learn how to control her touch. That was all that happened for the majority of the middle of the book, over and over again.
There was really no action. Or danger for that matter. And the danger that was introduced did not seem to fit. All the other "special" keeps were terrified of Ember and what her touch could do. But Ember actually has to touch someone to kill them, all the other kids have ways of protecting themselves from her even touching them, yet Hayden has a power where he only has to look at you and he can bring houses crumbling down around you. I am sorry, but if it were me, I would be way more terrified of Hayden then Ember.
Because of these things, I can only say that Cursed was an "okay" book for me. It wasn't horrible by any means, but it really didn't hold the spark that I thought it was going to have. To the best of my knowledge it isn't confirmed yet if there is going to be a sequel, but I truly hope that there is going to be. Because the ending of this book only left one with way more questions then answers.
Here is to looking forward to seeing where this book can potentially lead it's readers....more
**spoiler alert** First off, I want to thank Ms. Kate Kaynak from Spencer Hill Press for sending me an ARC copy of 'Elemental' by Emily White. I love **spoiler alert** First off, I want to thank Ms. Kate Kaynak from Spencer Hill Press for sending me an ARC copy of 'Elemental' by Emily White. I love all the people over at Spencer Hill Press for giving me the opportunity to read their amazing books (from some amazing authors) before they have even hit store shelves. You are all doing a great job and I greatly look forward to all the amazing books you have coming out soon.
Now for the review. 'Elemental' by the lovely Ms. Emily White, was WAY different then what I was expecting or even used to reading. I am not much for sci-fi, different worlds and space travel. But when I was reading 'Elemental' and the lovely way that Ms. White writes there were a lot of times that I forgot that this whole story wasn't even taking place on Earth. Or I don't believe it was. That may have been one of the few issues I had with this whole story. It was quit a bit confusing.

Jennifer you just keep blowing my mind more and more as you go along with this series. I liked Half-Blood well enough and Pure stepped it up another notch. But you have just hit it out of the ballpark with Deity. You are the freaking Queen of suspense and know how to keep your readers hanging onto every word until your ready to give us all what we are craving. I absolutely loved this book, but oh how you broke my heart at the end of it. And now I can't freaking wait for the release of Apollyon. Which doesn't even release until April 09, 2013, oh the torture.

**spoiler alert** *Sigh...* I went into this book wanting to love it so bad. But sadly, in a lot of ways, it fell short for me. Now don't get me wrong**spoiler alert** *Sigh...* I went into this book wanting to love it so bad. But sadly, in a lot of ways, it fell short for me. Now don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it, but once again, it took till the very end for me to even start enjoying what I was reading and not be frustrated with it. And if I find myself frustrated with most of a book, I find myself a very sad camper indeed.
First off. Haden saved Theia from Under in the first book. And how does she repay his undying loyalty to her even when he couldn't even remember her for a part of 'Falling Under'. She breaks up with him in 'Dreaming Awake', because it's just to much for her. Eck... (insert eye roll here). I cannot express in enough words how much I HATE when 2 characters break up in a series. Because in the end you know that they are going to get back together (especially in this series were there's not even a love triangle). It just seems sooo pointless to me, it was all a way to give the book more length and try to fool you into thinking that more happens in this book then what really goes down. Because trust me when I say, not much of interest happens.
