"I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain."

❗This is a spoiler-free review from Netgalley❗
Okay, I know I can't spoil anything in this graphic novel because that's the one rule on Netgalley, but how many of you don't already know what happens, anyway? Is there truly anyone who hasn't seen this treasure of a movie, yet? If so, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, GO WATCH IT!!!! And then go buy this graphic novel because everything becomes a hundred times better when it's written down and illustrated. On that note, you should definitely buy the book as well, because everything starring Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaak, and Jason Momoa deserves to be read. Period. These men have my heart.
If it hasn't already been made abundantly clear, I absolutely loved the movie, it was fantastic. I may not know just how accurate it is to the book(s) because I haven't read any of them, YET, but I still think it SLAAAAYYED. Of course, it could be that some of my favourite Hollywood actors play in it. I am crazy in love with Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. Honestly, they must be two of the most talented young actors of our time. Then, there's Oscar Isaak and Jason Momoa who I also love deeply. They are both incredible. Not to mention, Josh Brolin and Stellan Skarsgård. They seriously picked the best out of Hollywood for this movie and it shows.
As far as the graphic novel goes, it is exactly the same as the movie, scene to scene and line to line, only on paper. Not that I am surprised by this. If you're going to make a graphic novel out of a movie the least you could do is make it accurate from start to finish. I particularly enjoyed the art. Everyone looks as beautiful on paper as they do on screen, especially my girl, Zendaya. As if she could ever look bad, duuuuh ...more

Perhaps that isn't the sort of compliment an unmarried (in the real sense) woman hopes to receive...but you are already an incredible mother. And I have no intention of replacing you as Anya's guardian."

⚠️Trigger Warning: Graphic Violence⚠️
So, I changed my mind. I decided that instead of writing reviews for each volume, I should just write one review for all (released) volumes. This way, I'll avoid becoming so repetitive (which I noticed was happening in each review).
I'm gonna start by saying that I loved this manga so much I am full-blown obsessed over it. It's been a while since I've read a manga series, so I was even more excited to start this one. I can definitely see the hype. I get it and I'm part of it. I was going through a rough time this past few days, my mood was pretty bad but this series was so absurdly hilarious it actually got me out of it. What was equally helpful to me was all the sweetness (mostly Anya but also Yor and Loid) and excruciatingly slow-burn romance that utterly destroyed me every time. Not to mention, the awesome fight scenes and bloodbath in almost every chapter. Yor and Loid are seriously soo damn cool. This manga is honestly a cure for the soul. Also, despite all the fun in the series, there were several emotional moments that effectively ruined my mental health completely. It was hanging on by a thread for a while though but still...
Loid Forger, a.k.a. handsome spy Twilight, has officially entered the never-ending list of fictional characters I love, yet can never have. Yes, Yor is in there too. These two are absolute badasses. They may be my all-time favourite spy and assassin so far. I love their ridiculously incredible fighting skills and strength, and how much they care about Anya (even though they are both pretending to be doing it for their own personal/professional gain. Most of all though, I love their dynamic and outright refusal to realise they have feelings for each other and SHOULD GET TOGETHER IMMEDIATELY. I HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH!!! Any romantic moments between them are so minimal they make my eyes twitch. They could at least make out or something. For me. ...more
