Grace was such a relatable character for me personally because I figured out I was queer when I was 29 (thank you oppressive childhood) and deal with chronic pain and coming to terms with being disabled. Grace’s personal journey was just as compelling as her love story. She had love and support, but earned her self acceptance. Blair was so closed off but so protective of those she cared about. Even when she struggled to give and receive hugs, she still would drop anything to help Mona or Grace. The kink exploration was sweet and Grace and Blair’s relationship was the stuff of fairytales.

Poor Sturrm had so much grief and trauma from his past and she helped him process a lot of it. He gave her a safe place that she’d been missing. I liked that Grace was a mechanic with the weirdest of the gifts so far. Branikk was perfect for her because he was so sunshiny and full of compliments that Grace eventually learned were sincere. Annie was so determined to be independent that she took a wild journey to avoid Wick. She was super attracted to him but, understandably, leery of his “you’re mine” declarations following a one night stand. He had a pretty good growth arc, primarily learning to cede some control, but never changing his core possessive alphahole attitude. The app didn’t feature a lot in this book, but it did bookend the story a bit.
