This book covers the feeling of suddenly having no idea what you're doing and being confronted with the harsh reality of the real world and trying to reconcile everything you want and that you think you want with such nuance and heart. The love story is also gorgeous and gay and sweet and romantic and both Grace and Yuki are written with such enticingly human complexity.
I disliked some parts of how the storyline with her parents was handled. Specifically her father, which is definitely the most complicated and nuanced relationship in the book. It felt to me like Grace didn't get the resolution she deserved with her father, and the truth of the harm of their relationship wasn't as clearly called out as it should have been. But perhaps that's more true to life, as so often those that hurt us never truly do see what they did wrong....more
