It is a lovely little book, with exemplary writing (for the most part, in terms of writing for children) and with lovely illustrations, but I thought they were a bit too trying. Trying too hard to be amusing; trying too hard to be different; trying too hard to fill the hole left by the end.
None of the stories were that great, and the version Hermione tells in the film of The Tale of the Three Brothers is so much better, I'm not sure why it had to be changed so. Fun, though, if you like fairytales that are just a bit too twee, even if they are about death. Isn't everything, though, eventually.

QI is one of the most popular British comedy panel shows. It's intellectual prowess is unrivalled, as is its humour.
1227 QI Facts to Blow Your Socks Off does exactly what it says on the tin: a book full of (1227) facts that are simultaneously wonderful, funny, intriguing and down-right weird. A wonderful book to dip in and out of. It's not set out in any kind of order: there are no themes or sections, it's simply a list of facts to give you The Knowledge. Use it wisely.
Downgraded because a.) it's just a long list of facts. Whilst they're fun and unusual facts the later books from QI are interspersed with more information and snippets from the show, so this is a bit bland, and b.) because four stars made me pull a face.

I read this in 2012 when I was less picky about the genres I read and basically read stuff for the covers. It looks interesting enough and I'm sure the plot was fine, but YA always tends to have mediocre writing and that makes me quite sad. From another life, almost. This book is the first in a series of crafting books that Kirstie has released in conjunction with her TV series. This one contains 50 handmade projects to try out and is divided in to crafting areas: from Needlecrafts to Flower crafts.
The thing I like most about this is that it contains crafts that can be made for free or for quite an amount of money. It has simple crafts and quite intricate crafts, so any crafter can enjoy it, be you a beginner or a wonderful boss.
It includes colour photographs to accompany the step-by-step instructions, but I think the books that came out after this one are much better and contain better crafts to try out.

Yes , it's a nice edition to the world of Harry Potter, fun and imaginative, but it certainly wasn't funny and there definitely could have been more annotations done by Harry and Ron. It also just felt wholly childish and not, instead, childlike.

Like the other Rebus novels, I can't bring to mind the plot without looking at the blurb (and even then it's quite difficult) but it's Rebus, so it's gonna be great: one of the later ones, as well, which were written so much better and Rebus was better developed, alongside Siobhan.
