It’s more fun and light than the rest of the Shadowhunter chronicles. And oh so many swoony moments! In my opinion it’s the funniest of her books. I don’t really need to sell anyone on this book. If you love Malec, i think you’ll be happy.
3/2/22- i must say i was worried that this wouldn't hold up for me, but it absolutely did.

5/18/19- I'm just here, crying AGAIN! With everything happening in America right now, this was the perfect book for me to re-read this week. Catch me in 2020 re-reading this every week just to get through the election madness. YOU NEED TO READ THIS BOOK!
5/3/19- This is officially my favorite book of all time! I laughed, i cried. I felt so many different feelings i can’t even explain. If you wanted different results in 2016, this is for you. If you’ve struggled with questioning your sexuality, this is for you. If you’re a human with a pulse, this is for you. Can’t recommend highly enough!
1/22/19- A MILLION STARS! Might be my new favorite book. Full RTC when i stop crying (good cries)...more

(and also because it was chosen as the book for my book club). but honestly, i think this may be my favorite book of all time. I'm considering doing my first book-talk on my channel with this book, just so i can gush about it. Maybe even cry. I love Pen, Johnny, Blake, and Olivia so much. I want to be best friends with them. I can't WAIT to see what else M-E Girard is going to write. I'll buy whatever it is!
9/17/16 I absolutely adored this book. Pen is a precious cinnamon roll. Blake is BAMF. Olivia is so kind and awesome. Johnny is brother goals like for real. I'm gonna try and form some coherent thoughts for a full review....more

8/1/17 I honestly think this might be my all time favorite book.
4/9/17 So i'm going to try and somehow write a coherent review for this book. it may turn rambly, but let's go.
As a teen, I never had a fat positive book in my life. In fact, i didn't have one all through my twenties either. I don't think i ever got to see myself represented in a positive way until i was 31 and read Dumplin'. I can't even begin to explain how fucked up that is. As an avid reader, i just tried to put myself in other books, thinning myself out in my head. i know there are many, many marginalized groups that know how this feels. so when you finally get to see yourself in a book, it's AMAZING! and i had this euphoria when i read Dumplin... but it was magnified by a thousand in Upside. fuuuuuuuudge, i wish i had had this book as a teen! my God, Molly is me! I am Molly! (okay not really, i'm not as Pinterest-y as Molly. and still not as confident as she is. I don't even think Molly realizes how confident she is). am i even reviewing this book, or gushing?
this book made me laugh and cry and swoon and so many other happy things. it's definitely a happy making book. like, i want to shove this book into the hands of every fat/chubby teen. or every anxious and awkward teen. maybe just every teen. it's so relatable, and diverse, and not like, in your face, THIS IS A DIVERSE BOOK. it's effortlessly diverse, because that's how the friggin world is. and sigh, i just want to live inside of this book.
in case it wasn't obvious, I FUCKING LOVED THIS BOOK!
sorry for the rambling review. READ THIS.
i've already read it twice, and plan on reading it again when i can get the audiobook for it. it's already in my Top 5 books of all time.
i think i'm done now. read this book. ok, bye.
11/15/16 I can't even explain how much I loved this book. And how much it meant to me. Full review to come....more

ThiHonestly, I loved The Five Stages of Andrew Brawley. I already put it on my list as my favorite book of the month. And then I read this. And this? This might be my favorite book, ever. Why isn't everyone talking about this book? I want to climb on my roof and scream about this book. It contains my new favorite couple. It covers family, suicide, mental health, addiction... Gosh, everything. And it's done well. Shaun David Hutchinson is a phenomenal writer. I don't know why I'm just now discovering him but damn, I'm so glad I have more books of his to read. Oh, a video review will be coming....more
