I loved seeing Remi the RainFire alpha have his own story. When he meets Auden Scott, part of him is attracted, and part is repelled by an unusual sense of duality in her. Aiden has been through some difficult times of her own, including a failed brain graft years before that has left her supposedly somewhat addled and under constant supervision by her late mother’s sycophants. As the child of the two deadly Scotts, Shoshanna and Henry, she is definitely somebody to be wary of. However, Remi just can’t fight the attraction. When she builds a small home on the outskirts of RainFire’s property and turns up, obviously pregnant, he can’t help but be drawn into her life. As it becomes more obvious that something sinister is going on involving Auden and the baby, she and Remi become more and more emotionally involved. At the same time, the Trinity and Kaleb Krychek and his group are fighting a seemingly losing battle to keep the Psynet from collapsing. We know obviously that our two lovers are somehow going to be involved in whatever happens with the Psynet but how is quite the twist. Some old favorite characters like Kit from DarkRiver and his sister Rina who is now a sentinel in RainFire, make an appearance along with some new intriguing folks like Finn and Angel. I loved the little Wild Women vignettes that start the chapters. Of course, little cutie JoJo is a nice little touch of sweetness in an otherwise tense story. Loved this book and it will be unbearable waiting for the next one!...more

Sonya McTavish is planning her wedding and she’s tired so she decides to blow off her appointment with the florist and go home to surprise her fiancé. Anyone who reads romance knows this is not gonna turn out well. And it does not-fiancés in bed naked with Sonya‘s cousin. Weddings off. Another little wrinkle in this is that they work together and after a few weeks of the ex acting like a jerk, Sonya has had enough and resigns. Then comes a knock on the door. Sonia has inherited a manor in Poole Maine from an uncle she never knew existed. So, having started her own design business, and now having a new place to live, off to Maine she goes. You might be thinking this sounds like a fairly typical romance story, but here’s where you’d be wrong. The house is haunted with the spirits of several brides of the Poole family who were murdered on their wedding day. It also appears that the vengeful witch, who murdered them also haunts the house and isn’t really happy about Sonia being there. When Cleo, Sonya‘s best friend moves in, the fun really starts. I really enjoyed this book. There’s a lot of hidden history that slowly gets discovered, and while it provides some background, it also just makes the mystery a lot more mysterious. The book is a great blend of romance and paranormal suspense. And the ending!!! Let’s just say the next book cannot come soon enough....more

He’s also taking a whack and a couple of the earlier players on the Icehawks team. So you knew eventually we were going to learn a little more about him. Briggs is literally skating on thin ice with the Icehawks. He has plucked their last nerve, and they’re ready to give him the heave ho. Luckily, for him one of the coaches goes to bat for him, and he gets one last chance. Michella is the object of Briggs‘s desire. She wants to become a private eye and takes a job as an apprentice add an agency run by a tough lady detective named Carla. Michella is hoping to be able to help find a potential serial killer that she suspects could be her old boyfriend. I really enjoyed this book, because both characters are looking to change their lives, one kicking and screaming the whole way, and the other, looking for a new path in her life that she’s pretty sure, won’t include him They both provide what’s needed to fill in the holes for each other but they are not sure they can be that one for each other. I love a good redemption story, and this one was really good! There’s something about that damaged hero, and a spunky heroine that really gets to me. I’ve enjoyed all of Jamie Davenport’s books and I look forward to the next one in the series....more

I listened to the audio version and it was very well done by narrators Liam DiCosimo and Stella Hunter. Katie Carter has never gotten over her short-lived romance with hockey star Jude Taylor. Just when things were starting to heat up, he got called up to the NHL, and she sent him off without a peep. Jude has also thought about Katie all these years and wishes that things had not ended the way they did. When Jude is injured and sent back to his hometown for therapy he ends up going to the practice where Katie works. Finally, an opportunity for the two of them to talk about that time and see if there still is some thing there. This was a sweet Second Chance Romance with a bit of spice and drama thrown in. Not only do they have to deal with all the years between them, there is a little matter of professional ethics as she works where he’s rehabbing. Add a vindictive office manager who is looking to ding Katie and this has all the possibility of something really bad happening. I thought the author did a good job of working through all of the negative possibilities while keeping the romance uppermost in the story. When conflict happened Jude and Katie acted like adults ( unlike last time) and worked it out. As I said before, the audio version was very well done with both narrators doing an excellent job. They conveyed the emotion in the story perfectly and made it very easy to listen to. Now I have to go find the next books in the series! ...more

At the end of the last book Hannah dropped a bombshell which is addressed right at the beginning of this book. Hannah decides to take a trip with her mother to California to visit their friend Lynn. While there she gets a frantic phone call that her sister Michelle’s boyfriend is a suspect in a murder. Hannah of course rushes back and works with both Mike and Norman to solve the crime. Because the suspect, Lonnie, is a police officer Mike can’t work the case. So this one time he’s happy to have Hannah stick her nose in. In her tried-and-true the way Hannah talks to people, makes observations and bakes like a maniac throughout the book. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve cut out sweets for the new year but all the recipes sounded really good. As always this mystery is not full of blood and gore and creepiness. But it’s fun to read and there’s the ever present competition between Mike and Norman, although there seems to be a favorite developing. ...more

When Cam “Brick” Brickley sees Olivia Lockwood in a bar, she piques his interest. When his teammates bet him that he can’t pick her up and then a second bet that he can’t date her for 2 months and not fall for her, he takes both bets. She agrees because he charms her and because she secretly hopes to get him to be a spokesperson for her sports oriented non-profit for children. They start dating and develop an actual sort of relationship. They both have insecurities about love relationships that they talk about and support each other through.
One of the things I enjoyed about this book is the banter between the two. I also liked that they do interesting things, not just hit the sheets(although said sheet hitting is pretty hot). But my favorite part was that Cam told her early on about the bets when he realized she had been burned by dishonesty in a relationship before. They get creative about how they will handle their friends and families while staying “not emotionally involved”. Well, we all know how well that works. When it all unravels, they both need to take a hard look at what they really want.
I really enjoyed this book and will miss the Aces series but I can’t wait to see what Ms. Jamieson comes up with next!...more

Now he is a hot Wall Street broker with a great job, great apartment, great sex life, in short he has it all. Then, Lara McKenzie comes through his door. Lara is an investigator with the SEC and she is investigating him after they received a tip that he did insider trading. She’s convinced he’s a fast and loose player and he sees her as an uptight rule bound spoiler.
As Lara investigates, she discovers Ian has loyal friends and coworkers who help her see another side of her target.Ian, in turn finds out hat Lara is an honorable person with a specific life goal and a woman who might just need someone like him to have a life not just a goal.
I loved the bantering between the two characters and their friends. Ian and Lara have a ton of chemistry between them and when they finally connect, they burn up the pages. There are also lots of secondary characters who make me want to know what is going to happen with them.
This book has it all, hot romance, great characters, intrigue, and bits of humor all wrapped up in a great story. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!...more
