This book was nice. Familiar. If, like me, you love magic academy, I didn’t know I was a supernatural being until now, stories you should feel at home here.
Ethereal Oleander and puppy energy Skyler are really what made the book for me. They are the two sweetest cinnamon rolls and I loved them. Will look forward to Book 2. 3.5 stars ...more

Story of good and evil done in Pacat’s way of highly visual and immersive settings and three dimensional characters. Squealing through the last thirty pages, I read the last paragraph three times. You’re telling me none of those characters are real and none of that happened? Nah
Now I need all the aesthetic reels and book two. Can’t believe I waited so long to read this. James!!! ...more

Chani brings great execution as usual, putting her own style on the trope. It only keeps getting better the farther into it you get. Sloooow burn That’s all I’ll say. Better to go in not knowing too much and let it all unravel for you. Despite how the cover looks, this is not MMM.

Simon, whose hair color I couldn’t figure out because it changed three times in the book (inconsistent writing), started out pretty annoying for the first 33% but his relentless antics grew on me as his softer side for Wolfy started coming out.
I loved Wolfgang from book one and even though he had a slight personality transplant since then, there IS reasonable understanding behind it and I still adore him.
All you owning, marking, touch him and die, and growling lovers will get your fix here.
This book made me forgive all the sins I usually wouldn’t in most books but because it was compulsively readable, I have a soft spot for Wolfy, and had a good time my ⭐️ rating stands for now.
The Twins are now the most intriguing of characters and hopefully their book will be released.
All CW, tropes, kinks, etc are in the beginning of the book so read them first. There are a lot!...more

So, that being said, I really did enjoy this. It was campy fun (I put that in bold for a reason) and compulsively readable.
Dual secret/hidden identities might be one of my fave tropes, for that moment of recognition and realization and I’m always wondering which MC will figure it out first and how, and Hero/Villian you can’t go wrong there, throw in a little praise kink, “baby” and mine and I’m pretty content.
The dom/sub lite and daddy stuff weren’t really necessary for me here but whatever. I do feel like it would have been more impactful if we were shown more of their hero/villain dynamic in the beginning instead of just being told about it randomly throughout. Did some of the sex scene dialogue read a bit MF? Mmm, a little.
All of the content, tropes and TW are listed in the beginning of the book and there are A LOT of them.

DLately I’ve been thinking about reading The Lord of the Rings, but I decided to read this instead and it was the perfect substitution in my opinion. Does LOTR have a dark sorcerer trying to seduce a knight into bed? I don’t THINK so.
Sorcerer Tan is Sebastian “Bash” Vogel but with magic (iykyk)
The story gets deeper as it unfolds so patience is good here. Looking forward to continuing!...more
