Firstly, for those who don't normally read the Author's note at the beginning I advise you to read it here. This is hot,I mean seriously hot BUT it's not just gratuitous sex...it's important to the story. As the Author states physical pleasure shouldn't be wrong and who you love/experience love with is your choice.
Starting a new book by this Author is like Christmas.....
The anticipation, the excitement, the knowledge you're going to get something pretty special and when you unwrap that present and it's everything you hoped for.
Tyler and Joel couldn't be more different.Tyler is out, comfortable with who he is and hallelujah for a parent who is supportive and pretty damn special in his mother(I loved her). Joel is just the opposite, deeply in the closest, for reasons which are explained. It's not just his sexuality he's hidden but who the man he is deep inside.
The floodgates are about to be opened when an encounter one night with Tyler leads to something neither man expected.Enemies to lovers? It's more about Joel fighting his attraction to Tyler....
I unlocked the cage, and the beast broke out. He was spectacular.(...)
This is highly erotic, and sensual, but don't be fooled it's also a beautiful love story. The writing is so compelling,I was totally swept up in Tyler and Joel's story. The story might start of with hot sexual encounters but it finishes with so much more....two men who kind of rescue each other and turn out to be just perfect together.
“Thank you,” he said. “You have no idea how much you’ve changed my life.(...)

Oh,how,I loved this.
Delightful characters, Great setting, Humour, Just enough sexy times, Brilliant chemistry between Adam and Ryder, And....dirty talk...YES!!
Ryder is,
young,hip,and seriously hot
He's running his families bourbon business-it's been in his family for years. He's reluctant to sell the recipe for Hanged Man Bourbon....but needs must.
Adam is,
stuffy,closeted,and uptight
Sent by Bluegrass Bourbon( the company who have bought the recipe ) to check over the business and send a report back.
Sparks fly between them but the chemistry is evident from the start.I loved the small town setting with all the quirky residents and it's so funny at times,I'm sure I had a huge smile on my face virtually the whole time I was reading it.
"You're gay.He's gay.And you two did the horizontal tango....or whatever the phrase is.I don't know.Robert doesn't tango much anymore,horizontal or otherwise...."
These two are super sexy when they get going with some delicious dirty talk from Adam. And he definitely likes to take charge in the bedroom....or any other surface.
Adam moved quickly and deposited Ryder on the table. He was all flushed and breathing hard, disheveled and staring at Ryder as though he were the dinner they'd forgotten to eat.

I'm gushing and fangirling and twirling big time here.I read this in a day. Was it perfect? No but that didn't stop me giving it all the stars because I absolutely LOVED this story.
Teenage angst at it's best....
1986...
Two young boys from opposite ends of the track. One was comfortable with his sexuality, the other was confused, scared and all the time with the threat and uncertainty of Aids hanging over them. Two sets of parents and their struggles to do what they could, what they thought was right for their sons.
I'm gravitating more and more to YA stories these days. These boys were friends first before attraction took over.It was sweet, sad, heart breaking at times as they navigated their way through a small town homophobic existence.
I'm very late to the party here. There are some great reviews out there....check out CC's HERE because she's said it perfectly.
Highly Recommended.

Beautiful writing...

This is one of the reasons I love this site.If I hadn't read a friend's review of this I probably wouldn't have either stumbled across it or considered it and I would have missed out on a pretty unique read. This Author definitely has a way with words and making a story special.
Ondro left Slovakia years ago, disillusioned with his life as a young gay man there.Somewhere, deep inside,he knows he left for the wrong reasons and decides to leave the life he's made for himself and return 'home'.This time he wants to leave for the right reasons.
He meets Jamie,a young American man who has made a life for himself in Edinburgh,in Basel Airport when due to an Airline strike they find themselves in the same hotel overnight.
After the initial one night stand I had no idea which direction the story would take. The story is told only from Ondro's pov and his thoughts are beautiful....haunting and poignant, yet full of hope and longing.
Don't go into this one expecting an abundance of sex scenes because there are only a few and I think that's what made this story feel real.Yes,there's a deep sexual attraction between them but the connection the two men made over a few days is the main focus of the story.
It's most definitely a love story and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

I loved this!! A definite change from the gritty, dark books these girls write.A story of second chance love for Marek and Adrian-two men who couldn't be more different.
Marek is very uptight, firmly stuck in the closest. His main focus is his work at an Advertising Agency. He's all about how he appears to others, not wanting to let his defences down.He tries to ignore homophobic slurs from his boss and co-workers,desperately seeking promotion.....but his life is about to be turned upside down with the appearance from someone from his past.
Adrian is the complete opposite. He's open about his sexuality. He's laid back and charming. He's spent the last 5 years travelling but now he's back in Moscow looking for somewhere to stay.
These two men have a past.......they were lovers, until Marek let Adrian slip away.
I don't know how but these Authors create some of the best couples.Dom and Seth are my all time favourite M/M couple ever and I recently read The Black Sheep and The Rotten Apple and loved Evan and Julian but I've got to say Marek and Adrian are right up there.
Marek is a bit of a complex character but I actually got him and really felt for him.He puts on a facade but is deeply unhappy and when Adrian reappears in his life he's conflicted. He wants Adrian but is he willing to let go of his carefully crafted life and be true to himself?
The two men are thrown together, even more, when Adrian approaches the Advertising Agency Marek works for with the idea of starting up a mobile food truck, concentrating on traditional home cooked food.I absolutely loved this aspect. If there's one thing I love in books it's to hear about cooking/food.I loved Adrian cooking in Marek's kitchen making him authentic polish meals when he came home.I visited Poland when I was very young and can't remember much about the food but the food described here sounds delicious
This is a slow burner on the physical side but the attraction between them and sexual tension was more than enough to keep me satisfied and when they do,eventually, get dirty together it's just delicious. And the Epilogue was just perfect.
Recommended Read.

Well,I wanted a really dirty M/M book and this one definitely delivered. A prequel novella that can be read in a few hours.
Shane is 35 and runs a bar. He's straight and has never been attracted to a man before.....that is until he sets his eyes on Musician,Gabriel. He becomes completely obsessed with the beautiful man playing in his bar. He's fascinated by him and can't stop thinking about him. He's disgusted, ashamed, conflicted in his desire for Gabriel but at the same time has never been so turned on.
Gabriel is a bit of an enigma. You don't really get to know his background, where he lives, what he's up to in his time away from Shane.I would have loved his POV,but I think can see why the Author didn't go there.
The sex is desperate, raw and extremely filthy.Throw in some delicious dirty talk and I was more than happy.........

I'm all about the forbidden/risky and give me a Historical book with all that smouldering passion and I go to a happy place but there was something2.5
I'm all about the forbidden/risky and give me a Historical book with all that smouldering passion and I go to a happy place but there was something about this that had me feeling a bit uncomfortable.
John has been obsessed with Harrison for three years-nothing wrong with that except there was ......
Harrison is only 19 so John was basically lusting after a 16 year old boy.....I found this extremely creepy.John's actual age isn't mentioned,he's just referred to being less than double Harrison's age so I'm guessing about 35? but he came across as being a lot older to me.
On the plus side I loved how the Author created a world where it was ok for men to marry each other in a Historical setting( 19th England ).I did enjoy the writing and definitely would be interested in reading more from this Author but I just couldn't get past the creepy factor and once it was in my head it wouldn't go away.
Most people loved it.Available on KU.

One kind of grumpy Detective who doesn't do relationships and doesn't go back for repeats4.5

Opposites attract in the most delicious way...
Take:
One kind of grumpy Detective who doesn't do relationships and doesn't go back for repeats,
One kind of nerdy guy who definitely does do relationships, and wants the white picket fence, and the HEA,
And:
You get something quite delicious and believable and HOT.
I really enjoyed this,I've had it on my Kindle for a while and I've no idea why I didn't read it when I bought it( isn't it great when you go to buy a book and find out you already have it? )
Nevin might be a badass at work but he's a pussycat deep down.Don't you just love it when you think a man might be dominated and it turns out he likes to be manhandled just a bit??
Colin might be a bit nerdy, after all,he had a collection of Julie Andrews DVDs,likes to sing along to musicals, and Disney films....not quite the femme character I can't get enough of,but pretty close... To say I loved him is putting it mildly.
AND HELLO,
Who would have thought it?
Colin is a bossy top.....just delicious,it definitely pushed my buttons.
He thrust deep and hard, grunting with effort. He and Colin were noisy together—groans and huffs of air, skin slapping against skin, bedsprings creaking, and the headboard banging against the brick wall. Colin’s fist flew up and down while his other hand clutched the bedding and his pink-tinged skin beaded with sweat. But his gaze stayed focused on Nevin, sharp and bright as a knife-edge.(...)
The story and their relationship develops at just the right pace and add into the mix a murder/mystery plot incorporated very well into the story and this was a total winner for me.
I would definitely recommend it.
Can be a standalone.

One thing I've come to expect from picking up a new book by Roan Parrish is never to expect a similar story with new characters. Her books are wonderfully diverse and this is no exception.
Book two in the series ( book one is MF ), but can definitely be read as a standalone. Both characters were introduced in Small Change and if you go both ways in your books I would definitely recommend that one.I was more than a bit fascinated by Jude and, especially,Faron and was really interested in reading their story...
This one deals with mental illness and kudos to the Author because her portrayal of Jude's condition was extremely well portrayed. His self doubt, insecurities, and feelings of worthlessness touched a cord with me as I have personal experience with a family member who suffered in the same way.My heart ached for Jude at times and Faron was just perfect with him.His patience and understanding with Jude was so special to read about.
It's a slow, sensual story that was beautifully written and one I would definitely recommend.

I haven't read many books by Amy Lane but this is,without any doubt,my favourite.I loved pretty much everything about this book.I mean a story spanning over years is totally my thing and add in the angst,feelings-so many damn feelings, happy and sad,the ever present family connections that were so powerful in this story.I cried so many times reading this and it might sound weird but I LOVE it when a book moves me to tears.
Kelly and Matty are brothers and have been friends with Seth from a young age.Named the String Boys after being chosen to learn the violin. But it's Seth that excels, although he doesn't really see his own talent-he just loves to play.Kelly has loved Seth forever but it's Seth watching Kelly sleeping one day that has him recognizing his love for Kelly.
And it's a powerful love.It has to be.They go through so much but I never doubted their love or that they'd make it.Even when things seemed to crumble in front of them their love never wavered. This is one of the most believable love stories I've read in a long time.
Amy Lane tells their story and their struggles and their lives so beautifully.A massively important part of this story in family.Seth's family of two( him and his father ) and Kelly's family-the Cruz family.I could picture all their lives from the faded, worn furniture in their apartments to the laughter and tears as they grew up.
His boy. His beautiful, faraway boy.
One of my favourite books this year(so far)
Highly Recommended.

This is one of those books you want to race to the finish line to find out the outcome but you don't want it to end.
The writing is superb. It's going down as one of my favourites. Was it perfect? No,it had it's flaws but I couldn't rate it any less than 5 Stars.I was swept up in this Author's words-honestly his writing is so thought provoking.I was hanging on every word.
The story of two men.One who had turned his back on his previous achievements and one who was only existing.
Ian seemed to have the life most would aspire for,but something was missing and his turmoil and pain felt so real,so raw.I got inside his head and felt for him.
The scene setting,in Paris, was beautiful.I've only been there once and like most people,I imagine, you do all the sights. But the Author showed a different Paris here. From Ian's small apartment with it's balcony to the magical side streets with their bars and restaurants and beautiful waiters.Honestly,I was there feeling all of it.
A story of self discovery that will stay with me for a long time.

Delicious quotes:
When I stepped out of the guest room, Nate was reclined on the couch wearing bright blue panties that were designed to hold his cock and balls in a little pouch of lace. They were obscene and I was hard in seconds. His lips were red this time. “Not blue to match?” I gestured toward Nate’s mouth. “Would you like that?”“I . . . Fuck, yeah.” (...)
He pulled off his T-shirt and then worked his way out of his shoes, socks, and shorts until he was standing in front of me in his pink panties. “Don’t take those off,” I said. He smiled. “I wasn’t going to.” (...)
“How many colors of panties do you have?”“Every color of the rainbow. Eventually, you could see all of them.”(...)

Well this was a pleasant surprise.A very easy read.Yes,it's short but the story was very well crafted.
Milo and Stefan are botanists,as different as night and day.Milo is so laid-back he's practically horizontal. He was an easy charm about him and gives off very positive vibes.People are easily drawn to him.Stefan couldn't be more different. He's never felt he fit in anywhere or was liked by people. As a result he's thrown everything into his studies and work, striving to be the absolute best. His life is very organized but he didn't even realize he was lonely until his world collided with the sexy as sin Milo.
I wasn't sure about Stefan at the start but the more I read and came to understand his character, the more I loved him.
I loved these two guys and this story.I was even fascinated by all the plant references and I would LOVE a roof top garden like Milo!!
My only slight negative was it finished at 80% and the end felt a tad rushed.Still, though, very enjoyable.
Recommended.Available on KU.

I found the writing style here a lot different to the previous books I've read by this Author but,as usual, his words and characters h4.5 Stars.

I found the writing style here a lot different to the previous books I've read by this Author but,as usual, his words and characters had me captivated.I've got to admit I didn't know what a 'vignette' was,
Definition: a brief evocative description, account or episode.
I found reading a the story in this way so refreshing.

In His Eyes maps the story of four men,
Micah, Skye, Reid, Calvin.
They meet when they are young men, just finding their way in life and all the insecurities that go with youth and follows them into their forties. They all, eventually,go on their own emotional journey but theirs lives along the way are far from perfect.I don't want to give anything away but the story deals with some emotive subjects. It takes them as mature adults to look deep inside themselves to,firstly, recognize themselves as individuals and in doing so appreciate what they have.
A recommended read....
An Arc of In His Eyes was kindly provided to me by the Author in exchange for an honest review.
