Actually, if the previous books were a comedy of errors I'm not even sure where to start with this one except to say that it is completely awesome.
We get to know more about Stephen in this book (who I still hate), along with Cam (who I have a soft spot for), as well as Finlay's mother who is downright hilarious and Nick, who I seriously love so much. Can he join their burgeoning criminal empire? Because I think he should. But that would also compromise so much of who he is.
The conflict is real folks.
The setting in this book is Atlantic City, a place I've never been to, or seen much of but can now vividly picture due to Elle Cosimano's fabulous writing. I felt like I was there.
This road trip is full of twists and turns, casinos and fake wigs along with crooked ex cops and a (I'm picturing) adorable pupper, and a diabolical ex-wife, and for once I'm not talking Finlay.
There's also some growth in Stephen (god I hate to admit it), where he realizes, guess what? He's not all that and a bag of chips.
This book will make you laugh, cheer, gasp aloud and in general have a good time while scratching your head and wondering how the hell the team of Finlay and Vero get away with anything....more

That is the word that comes to my mind whenever I am reading a book by Linda Lael Miller. I can't even tell you how long her writing has captivated me for but it has been quite a while, which is why I was so happy to get my hands on a copy of this book, especially with the coming holidays.
This book and its characters made be delighted to be reading it. Raine is not your run of the mill romantic heroine, and Mick is definitely not your typical cowboy. In fact he's rather laughably not one at all. But man are they both awesome characters.
Raine is an artist, interested in the beauty of the world around her, and despite living in Hollywood Mick is much the same.
The two of them come together in a really sweet way, friends of friends, I suppose you could say, and it makes it all the more magical.
The cast of characters includes Raine's daughter, their dog, Sampson, and their colourful, amusing cat who doesn't seem to realize how large he is.
This is the type of book that you should read before the holidays, to incite those warm, loving fuzzy feelings within yourself. Or all year long when you need a little bit of Christmas magic.
This book feels indulgent, it's an escape from a world that has gone a little bit chaotic, even for a little bit. ...more

Now that I’ve gotten the John Stamos joke out of the way.
Expect to be spellound, says the little quote on front of this interestingly covered book.
I admit, when I read the quotes on books I kind of just shake my head. But that quote is right, my wonderful little, book obsessed friends.
Mercy Thompson is one kickass character. And she is far from perfect. That being said, she is oh so perfect in my eyes. Like seriously. I want to be her best friend. I want to learn how to fix cars, kick ass and forget the names from her.
She is well written, she is fierce, her story is not an overly familiar one from what I’ve read in the genre and at no point during this book was I gearing up to get to the action, nor was I bored in the moment that there was no action.
The characters in this novel are all different, and none of them are cookie cutter even when they might be on the verge of being so.
The plot is not formulaic, in fact it’s quite enjoyable to learn about this world in which vampires drive mystery machines, werewolves are Vietnam war veterans (or older) and fae are former Volkswagen mechanics.
So if you’re in the mood for something a bit heavier, but not super heavy and wanting to slip into a world that’s not your own you should definitely pick this one up....more
