Cress and Thorne are very much not my favorites. I find her very naive and him just... too much. Their relationship was very instalovey and just, not my cup of tea. But even if the pair isn't your favorite, this book doesn't just revolve around them, so I got to enjoy myself nevertheless.
I really do enjoy this series. It's a fastpaced sci-fi retelling of all the most iconic fairytale characters, and it's really well done. ...more

It was boring. It was just so b-o-r-i-n-g. I didn’t care about the characters because there was nothing much to like about them. I didn’t care about the plot because it was just a bunch of very very very boring politics and not much of anything else.
I just don’t care enough to waste my time anymore....more
I wish I enjoyed this much more than I actually did. Kaufman and Spooner hadn’t led me astray so far, but this book was just mediocre.

I’ve read reviews raving about the setting and the asthetics of this book, but I just didn’t see anything special about it. The characters were mild, the plot was stale and everything put together was just barely enough to keep me going.

I loved the characters in this one and also really liked the plot and romance progression.
I did lose myself a little bit in the science fiction details of the twists at the end, but hopefully it will make itself more clear as the trilogy progresses.
This tiny misstep didn’t really affect my reading experience so I enjoyed this book a whole lot anyway....more

Plot wise this book is really weak. We find ourselves stuck in much the same places and much the same situations throughout most of the book, only for everything to come crashing together quite disappointingly in the last few pages.
The progression to the end felt sluggish and the end itself disappointed in the way it brought everything we've worked for to a close. It kind of felt... a bit cheap. And I'm really sad about it.
If there are three stars in this rating, they all belong to the cast of characters in this series. I still really love them, and although I'm not 100% happy with how stuff played out for them, they still own my heart.

I guess I'm a little bit disappointed. I had thought Renegades was new favourite book material, but it didn't really hit that mark. (It wasn't a very fair mark anyway.) However, Renegades is far from a bad book.
The narrative is compelling and the characters are nice, and the concept for the story is ever so interesting.
You can, however, straight up guess the arch and the main plot twist of the story straight from the prologue, and Meyer doesn't really stray from the expected. I was just hopping for a little more humph, I guess.

Damn, what an adventure. Turns out they’re two of my favorite books of the year.
The plot is exciting and thrilling, the characters are so charming and the relationship between them so pure. I may have known where the plot was going for the very beginning (it’s not very hard to guess) but I still had one hell of a time in the journey there.
I won’t underestimate these two ladies again, that’s for sure....more

I reserve my one stars for books I either simply hate or that I think are unarguably bad. And although I didn’t absolutely hate the book, I do think it’s legitimately bad.
Characters are simplified to mere caricatures, dialogue and actions are barely humanoid and devoid of true life. The relationships are honestly so badly developed, so incredibly superficial, I find it hard to believe anyone would root for anyone in this story.
But the icing on top of this shit cake is the plot devoid of all meaning, simplified sci-fi low budget movie type. And although there is little driving this narrative, it still manages to make no sense whatsoever.
I honestly struggle to understand how anyone would enjoy this....more
