This was truly unlike anything I've ever read before. There is a lot of exposition but I'm not sure how you explain all of the concepts without it. Also unsure how I feel yet as a result. Generally liked it because we do need more of this and the breaking free and seeing that it is hard as hell and mistakes will be made on the way and we can learn new and better ways. It's hard but possible.
It reminded me of The Devils Within about the kid raised by neo-nazis and got out but has to learn everything from scratch and that requires some really cringey parts. Except, I think that book did it better.
Because of the material there are parts that just make you uncomfortable and hate the main character. And she's struggling. And you get it but also YIKES.
I need to just sit with it for awhile I think. The plot was great and very twisty did-not-see that coming moments. The trauma the characters go through is just... a lot....more
