Cosmere meets fairy tales! I never thought I'd see that combination, but it really works. I also think the spores are one of the most interesting magiCosmere meets fairy tales! I also think the spores are one of the most interesting magic systems he's come up with, and I kind of want more books set on this planet to see what the rest of the spores do. It was also nice to see Hoid in a central role for once.
As always, his comedy is slightly cringey and not exactly Pratchett, but I think most of it landed this time (unlike in Steelheart, which I thought was very cringey indeed). Hoid could have come across in the "Lol tacos RAWR XD I'm so random!!11!!" humour teens liked in the early noughties, but I thought it really did work.
I really do think Sanderson is allergic to missing. This one, as always, was a hit. ...more
