I didn't love the characters off and on but they were pretty real - for good or for bad. It'd been so long since I read the first four, the reveal didn't carry any weight with me, didn't remember that person so meh, but otherwise, it was good but I'm glad it's done. It got repetitive and didn't hold up as well as some other long running series.

I kept cringing at all the over-the-top adjectives - of which every noun in the book had at least one. It was never anything like 'in the cover of the night on a tuesday'. Instead it was 'in the silent cover of the dark night on a wet tuesday'. It got really really old after the first chapter. And I never liked the characters. Gillian was a bit of an idiot and just didn't do it for me at all. Dunno. Just not my personal cup of tea.

I won't go into how AWFUL it was - you can read that in all the other comments. I will say if you don't like repetitive noises do NOT listen to it. I nearly chucked my audiobook when the snapping started. I should rate it a 1 for that alone.
The story was alright. Nothing great. The audio killed anything good about it though.
I want to clarify it was the quality of the audiobook and the sound effects that were excessive/annoying/super loud. The narrators on their own are all great, especially R.C. Bray, who is one of my favorites....more
