actual thoughts on the plot/ romance yada yada ☞ the book was fine, pretty sweet, very cozy, low stakes all that. felt like a warm blanket, and hey I actually finished it after being in a slump for a good week or so. so there's that. good representation, too. needed HEAVY editing. I say that with a lot of love, but there were so many instances where my eye was twitching bc things were repeated that have been said a paragraph prior OR the conversation flow was jarring to say the least, bc it sounded like the characters were responding to thing that have been cut out/ said later in the text. And those things were so glaringly obvious that either a) author did not bother proof reading their own work enough and/ or b) their beta-readers suck, bc those things should have been picked up on very easily.
That last uhm sex scene was a choice , I'd say. I'd say the promise of the premise when picking up an Angel/ Demon book is Wings, Horns & Tails, maybe some making love in the clouds bs, you know things like that. We got very little of wings, one time use of horns, and 0 tail (again, why give your characters a tail, elude to using it but not showing it? Do I have to buy a patreon DLC for that?). What we did get though was TENTACLES. yup - yeah makes total sense to me too. Idk why I'm even surprised, really.

✘ all tell, no show ✘ cool premise, plot had some promise were it written by a better author ✘ horribly overwritten? under-edited? The writing style was atrocious. ✘ cringe-fest, sometimes funny, mostly not ✘ 50% smut, 100% boring ✘ Gray was cute, but also giving creepy vibes with how much the author infantilised him. He did come off as a child, and given that he has his own book and romance arc, I don't know how I feel about that.
➤ returning to KU, probably will not continue with the series
This is Book #3 of my 'read it or return it' KU reading challenge, in which I try to read through my GR 'want to read' books that are available on kindle unlimited, either reading them, or sending them back. The goal is to (hopefully) clear some books off of my shelf and find new favorites. ...more

my main gripes were:
- I just really disliked Kel, sorry. I found it highly unbelievable, that he went from spending one night with Rin to forcing an Engagement on him the next morning. I couldn't suspend my disbelief in that, and I tried. The dynamic was too similar to Kal's and Rabbit's from Echo, only without their insane chemistry, and slower relationship progression, that felt more than earned by the end of their book. Kel's and Rin's relationship did not feel earned to me. It just was. - I also just don't think that corsets look good on men, so every time it was brought up, it was an automatic turn off. - I liked Rin! In my personal opinion he deserved so much better, and I'll stand by that even if in the end Kel did come through. - The mood disorder was handled well imo - plot was alright, although I caught on the plot twist very early on. - huge no for Kel's pet name for Rin - FLOWER?? When the man dropped 'Flower, unfurl for me' I almost gagged - smut scenes were ... a bit meh. Lacked a certain je ne sais quoi....more
the fact that I could easily read another 2 books about Rabbit and Void alone and their dynamic. Loved Rabbit as the MC, and adored Void too. ✘ great start, mediocre middle, boring ending ✘ shoddy editing - needed at least 1-2 more rounds before it would have been ready for being released. ✘ ✘ great start, mediocre middle, boring ending ✘ shoddy editing - needed at least 1-2 more rounds before it would have been ready for being released. ✘ marketed as hurt/comfort when it is S&M ✘ 3rd in a very fluffy & light hearted series - suddenly including kink (not that I have anything AGAINST reading stuff like that, but I just really didn't want/ expect it in this series) ✘ Audric was boring - sorry! ✘ Corin wasn't much better, although at least he developed some personality by the end ✘ practically no emotional built up for the two, which made their romance feel shallow and un-earned. they drop the L-word after sleeping with each other twice and talking to each other on two separate occasions. I can suspend a lot of disbelief, but not this much. ✘ No swoon - worthy moments (in my humble opinion). Audric's inner monologue was practically 100% sex driven and how much he wants to hurt Corin - but it was never explained why ✘ best parts of the book were the supporting characters and the little cameo's we got from Jules, Whisper, Bell, Rakos and Lucian ...more
