This is my favorite book in the Alabaster Penitentiary series. There I said it thank you very much. Felix Darcey is also my favorite character in the Alabaster Penitentiary series. The look inside the mind of a serial killer, the non-existent feelings, what he's supposed to feel… The whole point of view is just addicting to read. And Dr. Love the way he asks the questions to get the answers he wants from Felix… and not always for research purposes…

Felix Darcey known as "The Carver" is literally so addictive to read. The way he rationalizes everything he does and the way he doesn't feel but also has this side of him that doesn't want to be alone. Nyla K. legit standing ovation because it is so fucking good. Also the way that he is this scary serial killer on the outside to everyone but inside he's just a scared kid who wants people to like him and blueberry pancakes with bacon. Be still my beating fucking heart I mean…

And you have Dr. Lemuel Love PhD. Everything he does is for research purposes… (sure buddy). I love that we get tidbits and sneak peeks in "Joyless" about him but nothing does this human robot justice. His backstory is devastating not gonna touch that with a 10 foot pole. But the way he is so fascinated by Felix and when he starts to develop feelings he tries to rationalize it by saying it's because he is interested in him as "The Carver"… (as Felix says "keep telling yourself that" buddy).
"Felix Darcey is exactly that. A dangerous animal behind bars. And I can't help wanting to step inside his cage… In my presence, I want him free to do whatever his twisted little mind wants to do."
Again again these are the songs that I added to get into that criminal minds, fall in love with a serial killer, prison vibes… You know what I mean?

Alabaster Penitentiary is unknown to the world. Except for the prisoners and the guards who work there. But the guards don't work there by choice. Every one has a secret. Officer Chevelle basically runs the place… but what does he have to do to keep everything in check? Officer Jameson is the only female guard but you would be wise not to underestimate her. And the newest addition? Officer "Rook" Samuels - squeaky clean and former cop. No one is a guard in Alabaster Penitentiary from the goodness of their hearts. The prisoners and guards might be one and the same. But that doesn't mean that the guards can't mess with each other heads too… And maybe even their hearts.

Okay so the first time I read "Joyless" it was not my favorite of the series. Now I did love it don't get me wrong but there were others that just stood out more for me. After rereading I can say definitively that this book will live rent free in my head and I have no objections to that.

First let's start with Officer Velle. Officer Jonathan Chevelle. After "Distorted" you come out with this sort of hatred for him because he is an asshole I am not taking away from that but after "Joyless" he became legit one of my favorite characters. He is HILARIOUS. I am not even joking. All of his one-liners to himself literally made me cackle. And the fact that a prisoner murdered another prisoner is an "inconvenience" to him is a literal mood. Like do you know how much paperwork that is??? Also, his backstory… I will literally be a Velle defender for life and I am taking applicants to join just saying…
"Between the two of them, they're an unstoppable web of sex appeal on this island. One I'm not sure I can keep from getting tangled in."
Then we have Joy Jameson. She is a legit badass and if you think different then you are wrong. Sorry those are just the facts. I mean she knows Taekwando and is the only female officer at alabaster… She can kick me in the face multiple times and I will get her an ice cream sundae with cherries and whipped cream (IYKYK). I mean she literally sacrificed herself to save her family. She is legit the coolest… (sounding like a second grader but don't care that's how cool she is…)

Last but certainly not least we have Rook. I am just going to say this - Like if you would put a picture of Rook and a golden retriever next to each other I would take them both home you know? Legit being the "innocent" one in this situation is so fun to read and watch because his interactions with Joy and Velle are EVERYTHING!! I mean if walls could talk am I right?

Lexington is a genius hacker stuck in Alabaster Penitentiary. He can't escape. He knows that. He's not going to try and change that. Warren Xavier is also in Alabaster Penitentiary. And wouldn't you know it, he has his eyes set on one thing. And he will do anything to have Lex. Even if it means pushing him away in the process.

Yes!!! It has finally arrived!! I have been waiting for Lex and Ren's story since "Distorted" and I was not disappointed one bit!!

Now this book was a BEAST!! I ate it up but with 700 pages of story there was a lot!! But I could not put it down for one second!! I was obsessed!!
We come back to Alabaster Pen in this telling of Ren and Luthor's story while also incorporating scenes from "Distorted", "Joyless", and "Brainwashed". And we see Lex and Ren's relationship from when they came into Alabaster Penn, what they did to get in there, and the "present" if you will.

I have loved him since we saw him in Dash's story and finally we get to see have his moment in the spotlight in this book!!

And then we have Ren. Sweet beautiful sassy hilarious Ren. I always wondered what Ren did that made Luthor be so hot and cold towards him through the first three books and yikes I got it! But honestly, I cried in this book a little and all of it was because of Ren and his backstory. I am not saying that what he did was right in any way but I am saying that his story is really painful and he needs to be protected! Preferably with Lex there as well.

This book was beautiful and I loved every second of it. Don't get me wrong "Brainwashed" is still my favourite but this one climbed up the list I can tell you that! The action, the romance, the story, the "cliffhanger"!!! OMG I can't wait for Shadowman honestly! Nyla K has my wallet at this point and I have no complaints.

This book is amazing. Even reading it a second time and I am OBSESSED. The pure emotion in this book is addiction. Nyla K. is amazing at making me do 2 things: laugh my ass off at quips and jokes and completely and utterly shatter my heart and put it back together. And this book is the perfect example for that. And I thank her for the emotional rollercoaster I went through reading this book (again).

Let's start with Avi. First off Avi is a vibe. He is chill, he is an artist, and he is sassy and hilarious and I was here for it. I mean the whole mascot thing basically just to piss off Ky legit something I would consider doing no joke. Him being his mom's best friend was ADORABLE. Their relationship was everything and his mom is a badass, I will take no objections. I very much identified with Avi, you know, making jokes at appropriate or inappropriate moments doesn't matter, if we see a chance WE WILL MAKE A JOKE!!

Shout out to Rina Kent for giving us life with the Aiden and Elsa cameos because I could not stop crying and laughing and smiling at them!! And the relationship between Aiden and his kids!! OMFG I cannot WAIT for Eli's book!!

But I mean that scene with Aiden and Adrian was everything and I will not apologize for the fact that I am so happy we got it! Anyway Annika Volkov. Jasper Jervais is exactly what you expect from a cowboy hockey player (in all the good ways). When it comes to Friends-to-Lovers it is so easy to make the main female character so unlikable and "pick me". But Elsie Silver once again proved how top tier she is and makes Sloane such a bad-ass.
This goes into one of my favorite Friends-to-Lovers and if you know me you know that list is so short!!
Plus that little Reckless teaser?? Yes please!!! Theo had only a couple lines and I was already melting and I can already tell that Winter is going to be badass!

This reread is so worth it!!! I mean the breadcrumbs alone I am gobbling up literally each and every one!!! Rina Kent keeps serving every time and I am here for it with my arms out begging!! It all started with Killian and Glyndon and I was eating up every interaction, every line, every insult, every smutty thing!!

Her and Killian are literally a push and pull! He keeps pulling and she keeps pushing him away and has snarky comments and love love love!! Also I loved to see the relationship with her and the other offsprings (thank you Remi!!) and the girl power trio/quartet happening I was all for it thank you very much!!
