I stayed up as late as I possibly could on a Saturday night reading, and woke up early Sunday to finish - that's how gripped I was. I admit I went in completely blind and the only thing I knew about the book was that the male lead was Irish (always a bonus).
This was a story of 2 young strangers who lived in different continents, with lives headed on very different paths. But fate was not going to keep them apart forever as fate is meant to be.
What starts as an intense 24 hour one-night-stand in a small town in Ireland, ends up with harboured feelings of resentment, a plan for revenge and more than a few fucked up secrets.
Flawed characters are my favourite and this was no exception - Rory and Mal learn that love is not always easy or fair, but in the end it's all that really matters.

It's so hard to put into words how I felt whilst reading this book, it was such a complex and emotional story and one that will stay with me for a very long time. I'm already such a huge fan of this world, having read the original series with all the parents and now getting to do it all again with their children.
Luna & Knight have loved each other from little kids, but teenage angst and jealousy can be toxic - lump that together with parental illnesses and feelings of rejection, they have one hell of a journey to travel before they can even start thinking about pursuing a relationship.
"There were two Knight Coles. One was mine. The other everyone else’s."
I fell in love with Knight, a mamma's boy who was so sensitive and loving but with rejection issues so bad he often acted 'cocky' as a defense mechanism. Luna has always been a mystery to me so it was great getting to know her and find out how and why her selective mutism manifested itself.
As always, the writing was stunning and beautiful and everything I love about a gritty type of romance. Definitely not a fluffy series, it is raw and emotional, grab your tissues for this one because its a killer!

A really unique idea for a romance, I read this pretty quickly which means I was completely invested in the characters. I loved them both in the good times, the bad not so much.
(view spoiler)[I refuse to believe that a sane person would be intentionally that cruel to the love of his life, so that part was unbelievable to me. Plus, the flashbacks were too much). (hide spoiler)]
However, the beautiful words really made me smile so all in all I enjoyed it a lot 😁...more

Pretty Reckless is the first in a series that follows the children of this series -> Vicious
Here's what I loved about this book - the heroine is flawed, she's a bitch, and she is 100% real. I am now in my forties, but this story really took me back to my teens. Girls are often brought up to be "kind always" and all that jazz. But, the fact of the matter is that girls have emotions, huge angsty teenage feelings that are not always pleasant and nor should girls have to be kind to people that do not take their thoughts and feelings into consideration.
Daria is the daughter of Jaime and Melody from Defy. She is a spoilt brat, of course, and she has a very complicated and tumultuous relationship with her mother. She gets jealous a lot and hits back using her defence mechanism of being a complete an utter mean girl.
However, I adored her and I mostly loved how Penn Scully is the one who 'sees her' and the girl who just wants to be loved.
Penn was an interesting character too, and although he didn't realise it yet, he also yearned for love because he'd been let down in the past by the only two females in his life who were important to him. When Jaime & Melody take him in after becoming homeless, he has a chance to break down Daria's walls, the girl he was always intrigued by, and who hates him as much as he hates her. Enemies to lovers at it's finest.
Pretty Reckless for me, was an unputdownable story of raw emotions. I absolutely loved it!...more

I am so relieved to say that this book lived up to the hype! After being slightly underwhelmed with Kai's book due to the fact that it focused a lot on Damon, I will admit that it most definitely was 100% necessary, as there was a lot of info that lead up to this culmination. Damon turned out to be an anti-hero that redeemed himself, a feat that I really didn't think would happen. Guys, he made me cry!
After doing many bad things to his closest friends, including almost killing his best friend Will, I absolutely hated him during both Corrupt and Hideaway. We are introduced to Winter Ashby, the girl he went to prison for raping, and we find out why they hate each other and why his purpose in life is to torment her but also keep her close.
I loved the twists, and I loved the backstory between Damon & Winter. I also couldn't get enough of the way they tormented each other. The bond between Rika & Damon was also fabulous to watch, and also the glimpses of how much he loved his sister, Banks. There was so much passion in this book, I devoured every page and think that this was the perfect HEA for Damon.
We also got to know Will a little bit more, so I am intrigued to see how his story pans out in Nightfall.

Salana is privileged and white, but even at the tender age of 16 when she meets Tiago, she see's the person that he is deep down and doesn't care that he comes from the projects, or that his skin is not the same as hers - she falls in love without even realising it until many years later.
What I loved most about this book was the connection that they shared, it was truly beautiful. Tiago was a man born to a life of drug abuse, poor opportunities, and a world full of prejudice, but he fights for the woman he knows he deserves.
A forbidden, inter-racial and sexy romance - with a side of angst.
I am not sure if I have adequate words to describe my feelings right now, this duet absolutely blew me away!

This story is a very unconventional love triangle and had I known that beforehand, I probably wouldn't have picked it up since I was totally not in the mood for the angst and despair that often comes with these types of books. However, if I had listened to my gut instinct then I would be kicking myself right now because it truly was a spectacular piece of work.
In my opinion, Jewel E. Ann writes the most swoon-worthy and soul-deep beautiful heroes - in this duet she gave us two! But there was one that really stole my heart and I felt so much of his pain and emotions that it was as if he had come to life in the pages.
Very reminiscent of the Jack & Jill Series, lots of twists, plenty of ups and downs, and wonderful characters that will be remembered.

I hated the other man for his selfishness, and I'm very torn about how I feel about Charlie too, she made some very stupid choices throughout this book.
Steiner has a huge talent, she is a fantastic story teller - unfortunately I don't think I can read another book by her, I'm always left feeling extremely sad when reading her books and this was no exception.
My heart broke many times and it still feels pretty battered, even now.
However, I'm so so happy my man got his HEA!

All these elements, along with poetically written prose and a deep sense of emotion is what makes a book one that I will remember out of all the thousands of books that I have read - Midnight Blue is one that I won't forget.
Alex, a broken and angry super famous rock star from Watford in England is the hero in this story, and I promise you won't fall in love with him straight away, but he will seep into your veins and make you love him, just like he did to our heroine.
Indigo is a giver, she is equally as broken but she deals with her heartbreak by helping others and this is how she ends up with the job of 'sobriety buddy' to the Rock God in question, she needs the money to help her family and she is willing to put up with her mean and moody boss.
This story felt real, there was a lot of emotion and pain, but also a lot of humour - I loved Alex's banter, it was very 'British' and I completely connected with him as a character. Indie was the kind of girl who you can't help but love, and also empathise with her unwanted pull towards the bad guy.
If I was being picky, the ending was kinda rushed, but I don't care, I absolutely loved all of the feelings that this book evoked, and I would 100% read this again.

Oh the angst in the first half of the book was delicious and painful, but the minute they come together changes everything for them, and what a scene that was, holy moly.
The rest of their journey was a tough one, but worth it in the end.
I've been looking forward to this story since the first in the series, and it was definitely my favourite out of the 3 - great to catch up with the rest of the gang too ❤️...more
