These books were fun, predictable, hilarious, excessive, insane and utterly impossible to put down. I ripped through them like a piece of tissue paper. I regret nothin. Was this the best PLL book? It was decidedly average. Girls escape, Emily is the hero we all expected she would be come, the liars go to jail, the mom had ali the whole time etc. Stupid stuff happens- Wren and spencer back together? LOL. Hannah and Mike get married? ...more

Better, more in sync with the PLL world and just more interesting than Pretty Little Secrets. Manages to make the real Courtney seem like the victim she actually is, not the psycho she's made out to be. Sure, she's awful and fucks up but that's as much because she needs to act like Ali as anything. Retelling things the girls shared felt fresh here where it normally is horribly dull. This was a breezy read, especially since anyone reading it will know the ending. But I can't give it 5 stars, though it was one of the best i the series. DEFINITELY should not be read by anyone who hasn't read every other book to this point, which makes it difficult to really recommend. Still, Courtney as victim is an appealing, relevant and necessary perspective for someone who has a Laura Palmer-esque lack of voice. {cue the screaming in the black lodge)...more

Totally crazy. Things hit their absolute nadir for the liars In a relentless and unforgiving fashion after seems to be peacefully resolved. And guess Totally crazy. Things hit their absolute nadir for the liars In a relentless and unforgiving fashion after seems to be peacefully resolved. And guess what! Iris' boyfriend Tripp aka Nick aka every guy present when the girls effed up is one person AND Ali's secret boyfriend. But Ali has been decaying and living in the woods just Tj get revenge. Also she had a gun. And they almost die of cyanide poisoning in a secret bunker room under a worn down building covered with pictures of Ali. And ali turns in her accomplice before escaping!! I mean this shit is unrelenting in its compound absurdity and inanity. There were some goofy inconsistencies here, like Emily mentioning NC state not unc and the girls being framed in a way that defies explanation. AWESOME ending. I love the chapters that are from Ali's perspective. It's bonkers. Still, this wasn't the strongest- it's mixed up continuity Marred what is generally airtight plotting, even at its most extreme and unbelievable. Onward to #15, bitches!...more

AGH. picks up welll where the other left off- tons of false starts, intentionally confused "advice" and a bizarre not-ending. So many funny deus ex machina result from Spencer's faulty memory/subconscious mental block/whatever. But now she knows- ali is her step sister! She's such a great character and it's frustrating to see her identity as an out and accepted lesbian woman be shuttered off so she can have a boyfriend...it's inconsistent and best and problematic and frustrating at worse. I love the depth, the characterizations, the well played cliches, the sheer mystery of it all. There is something truly bizarre happening at every step.
