"It was all so incredibly sad. Six smart and talented lives taken. Six families—parents, siblings, grandparents—whose lives were irrevocably destroyed. And all for what? One sick individual’s twisted pleasure"
"He was home and he was safe. She was looking for problems instead of counting her blessings.”
"There was no logical reason for Robert to protect the man who’d killed his son”
" A monster was responsible, and I shouldn’t be salivating at the thought of studying him."
"Losing a child was like losing a limb. You were reminded of it every time you moved, until the consistent adjustments to life became a permanent part of you."
" We had been strangers, our history linked without us knowing, our focus on distraction from our grief and problems. "
↠ The plot of a psychiatrist trying to figure out the murders of six teenagers was overall pretty fine. I think it was just exceuted in a very boring way, cause at no point in the story did I think it was thrilling. The heroine was never in any danger, even at the end it was kinda lackluster.
↠ After reading The Good Lie, I'm convinced that everyone of us would make a better psychiatrist than Dr. Gwen Moore. Girl, that was really embarassing how clueless you were the whole time. All the wasted money of patients who went to her therapy lessons for help... I'm standing with these victims. 😔
↠ I don't know if it's because in my teen years I've read as many psychological thriller books as the amount of romance book I've been reading now or if the book was just predictable, but I guessed the killer pretty much the at the beginning. The FBI is really missing out on not having me on their team.
↠ I can't believe i'm going to say this, but I wish there was like no 'romance' in this book at all, cause it was dry af at best. Everytime Gwen and that defense lawyer got it on (sorry I already forgot his name) I was shaking these dumbasses that there is still a mystery to solve.
↠ The last couple of chapters were a bit rushed due to the short lengh of this book. A.R. Torre could have easily written a couple of more chapters, which would have been beneficial to the characters and story overall.
↠ *looks at my notes to see if I have anything else to rant about the book* ... no that's it.
