Low-rent bounty hunter Stephanie Plum reaches depths of personal experience that other women detectives never quite do. In Hot Six, for example, a sequence of new and hideous cars bite the dust; she finds herself lumbered with a policeman's multiply incontinent dog; and she has several bad skin days. Book Review
3+ out of 5 stars for Hot Six, the sixth book in the "Stephanie Plum" cozy mystery series, written in 2000 by Janet Evanovich. I've had some bad days before. I've even done some things I am not exactly proud of. But one thing I've never done... set someone on fire. Who does that? And what do you do to get revenge on the fire-starter? Maybe Drew Barrymore has some ideas. I'm a gonna call her today. On a more serious note, yes, that's poor Stephanie's life in this book. Bail jumpers are pushing her to the limit, but this one seems to want to kill her. While this book was funny and followed the same formulas, it was a little less remarkable than most of the others. I love all the kooky characters and the relationship issues between Ranger and Morelli, but I'm getting to the point where she either needs to kick one the curb, kick them both to the curb, decide Lula is the girl for her, or move to a new city and start fresh. I mean come on... something's gotta give here, right?

A buddy read with my friends at BB&B!!! Let's go hunt some bond skips!!!

I do not know how does this author keep on making me laugh??? I mean, this is book 6! I should be tired of the same old, same old, right? How long can one very inapt, clueless, and fully unprofessional bounty hunter, with propensity for finding dead bodies, keep bringing the funny and rev up the likability factor ever higher, from one book to the next??? And Stephanie Plum does all that and more, reeling us in with every misadventure, despite, or realy because of all of her ineptitude and ridiculous decisions and actions... And in this book she managed to destroy only two cars!!! Well, more, if you count those that belong to other people...

""Hey, man," Moon said to me. "Real shame about your car. That's mad crazy, dude." "What happened?" "I was sitting there on the bench waiting for you, and I saw Reefer walk by. You know Reefer? Well, anyway, Reefer just got let out of the tank, and his brother was coming to pick him up. And Reefer said why didn't I come out to say hello to his brother. So I walked out with Reefer, and you know Reefer always has good weed, so one thing led to another, and I thought I'd just relax in your car for a minute and have a smoke. I guess a pod must have jumped, because the next thing your seat was on fire. And then it kind of spread from there. It was glorious until these gentlemen hosed it." Glorious. Unh. I wondered if Moon would think it was glorious if I choked him until he was dead."

Her job mostly sucks...

" I flipped the top file open. Morris Munson. Arrested for vehicular manslaughter. "Could be worse," I said. "Could be a homicidal rapist." "You didn't read down far enough," Connie said. "After this guy ran over the victim, who just happened to be his ex-wife, he beat her with a tire iron, raped her, and tried to set her on fire. He was charged with vehicular manslaughter because according to the M.E. she was already dead when he took the tire iron to her. He had her soaked in gasoline and was trying to get his Bic to work when a blue-and-white happened to drive by." Little black dots danced in front of my eyes. I sat down hard on the fake-leather couch and put my head between my legs. "You okay?" Lula asked. "Probably it's just low blood sugar," I said. Probably it's my job.

She is attracted to two men, each of them wonderful in their own way, and honestly, even though I hate love triangles, in this case I totally understand the dilemma... They are both too perfect in two very different ways...

OKAY, SO HERE'S the thing. My mother's worst fear has come true. I'm a nymphomaniac. I lust after a lot of men. Of course, maybe that's because I don't actually actually have sex with any. And some of my lustings probably aren't going anywhere. Probably it's unrealistic to think I'll ever get it on with Mike Richter, the goalie for the New York Rangers. Ditto Indiana Jones. On the other hand, two of the men on my list of desirables actually desire me back. The problem being that they both sort of scare the hell out of me. My name is Stephanie Plum. I'm a bounty hunter, and I work with both these men. Both are involved in law enforcement. One is a cop. And the other takes a more entrepreneurial approach to deterring crime. Neither is very good at following rules. Both outclass me when it comes to lusting experience.

And grandma Mazur is moving in, hahahaha!!!!

Add the Moon Man and an old mobster who keeps jumping in her car, and you have just another day in the world of Trenton, NJ, The Burg she and her family inhabit with their ethnic identities and bizarre energies...! Ooooo, and let's not forget Bob - the dog from hell with stomach of steal and limitless appetites, he is my favorite addition!!!

"Bob wagged his tail and looked from Grandma to me. Grandma ladled out oatmeal for the three of us. She and I took our bowls into the dining area, and Bob ate his in the kitchen. When Grandma and I went back to the kitchen, Bob's bowl was empty. The cardboard box that used to hold the cake was also empty. "Guess Bob's got a sweet tooth," Grandma said. I shook my finger at him. "That was rude. And besides, you'll get fat." Bob wagged his tail. "He might not be too smart," Grandma said. Smart enough to eat the cake."

I give up! This is one of the most hilarious series I have ever read and is the best cure for gray or dark days and moments of book slumps and some depressions... It is just fun! Everybody should read it, but be prepared - there are stereotypes, cliches, and many tropes, but if you understand the intention with which the books are written, and they are for entertainment purposes only, I promise all a good time all around!!!

Now I wish all of you Happy Reading and may you never loose your sense of humor!!!!

This was shaping up to be an eight-doughnut day.

Seriously? I want Stephanie's metabolism! Where do I sign up for this? If I had an eight-doughnut day, I would have the get the word "Goodyear" tattooed across my ginormous body.

Also the only way to get me to sporting events.

So, another day, another dollar. If Stephanie can bring in a crazy lunatic that keeps trying to set her on fire. And, if she can lose the newest guys who are following her around town. Plus, she has to hope that her new dog, Bob, doesn't just eat her paycheck. He eats everything else.

"That's funny," Lula said. "Didn't you put those nuggets on the bucket lid? I can't find that bucket lid anywhere."

We all looked at Bob. He had a small piece of cardboard stuck to his lip.

I have a dog like that. Around Christmastime, it looks like we own a unicorn because of all of the colored poop in the yard. I swear she's half goat.

That sounds about right.

The other problem is that Ranger, Steph's friend and mentor, is accused of murder and she's trying to help him sort things out. Ranger has a habit of showing up in Stephanie's apartment in the middle of the night to get status updates. Bob isn't much of a watchdog either, because he doesn't even wake up when Ranger breaks in. Or, when the multitude of other people break in to her apartment. It seems like everyone can pick a lock except Stephanie. She really is a terrible bounty hunter. Hilarious, outrageous, and madcap. But, terrible.

Ranger: "Nothing is ever simple with you. Men blow themselves up. Cars get flattened by garbage trucks. I've been in full-scale invasions that have been less harrowing than meeting you for coffee."

Joe: "You know, when you're a cop you get to a point where you think you've heard it all," he finally said. "You think there's nothing left that could surprise you. And then you come along, and it's a whole new ball game."

Well, at least she's never boring. Even on a slow day there are at least some cars exploding around her.

So, this book is just as fun and crazy as the rest. I feel like I am really getting to know all of these wacky characters, but then new ones are always coming in. And, although there are always the expected things, like car mishaps and an eating disorder, it hasn't yet gotten old to me. I still find myself laughing ever few pages. I will keep going on the series until I stop.

As a bonus, here is a picture of my two labs. The chocolate is the one who eats everything.

This is a very funny cozy mystery, and this is the 6 book in the Stephanie Plum series. I love the Stephanie Plum series. They are so funny. They are well written and very quick reads. You do not have to read them in order. I think they can be read has stand alone if that is what you would like to do.

Janet Evanovich's, Hot Six is funny, sexy, and bloody! Yes, all three with perhaps two or more thrown in! Evanovich writes a great book from a ladies point of view which makes if more enjoyable. As always, Joe Morelli and Ranger are trying to keep Stephanie Plum out of trouble and in bed. Most of the time they don't succeed. It's a wonder Stephanie has not ended up in the morgue. Grandma is trying something new. Has the family in in a state of what's next! Stephanie's mom is everyone's mom and how she cooks! A must read for fun and laughter. Yes, I laugh right out loud! You will, too!

Mooner, Ranger, homicidal maniacs, a Rollswagon, dog poo, a dead guy in a lawn chair, the nemesis from hell, a Star Trek party and eccentric Grandma Mazur all make up my favorite Stephanie Plum novel so far! Lots of laugh-out-loud moments and great secondary characters.

This is the 6th book in the Stephanie Plum series - and by far the best so far! Grandma Masur, the dog and Lula made this story priceless!! Although I am new to this series , and reading them in order- I can see where the Joe vs Ranger love triangle may get to be 'annoying' (for a lack of a better word) .

I'll still continue this series - and I wonder how long it will be for me to get annoyed by the love triangle- we shall see -- so for now---- on to the next !

Hot Six (Stephanie Plum #6) by Janet Evanovich

Synopsis /

Low-rent bounty hunter Stephanie Plum reaches depths of personal experience that other women detectives never quite do. In Hot Six, for example, a sequence of new and hideous cars bite the dust; she finds herself lumbered with a policeman's multiply incontinent dog; and she has several bad skin days. All this when she is trying to prove her distinctly more competent colleague and occasional boyfriend Ranger innocent of a mob hit; avoid the heavies trailing her in the hope of finding him; and cope with a wife-abusing bail defaulter with nasty habits, such as setting Stephanie on fire.

My Thoughts /

🛑 Warning. Stop reading now UNLESS you love reading about hilariously funny characters; hairbrained antics; half-baked decision making and laugh-out-loud moments!

Just in case you haven’t been following along as I read/review this series of novels written by Janet Evanovich – it is centred around the character of Stephanie Plum. ‘Who is Stephanie Plum?’ I hear you ask. Here is a very quick intro: Stephanie Plum was originally working as a lingerie buyer for a local department store until, in the first novel, she was laid off from her job. With no other job prospects, she turned to her cousin Vinnie who offered her a position as a bounty hunter (or “bond enforcement agent”) for his bail bonding business - Vincent Plum Bonding Company.

I have so many dilemmas,' says Stephanie Plum—Trenton's most adorable, least reliable bond enforcement agent—'I can't even remember them all.

In book 6, Hot Six, the “dilemmas” just keep coming! There is the ‘romantic’ dilemma. That’s when Steph can’t decide which ‘hunk’ she wants in her life. Policeman, Joe Morelli – the guy she’s known all her life. The guy who, at age eighteen, sweet-talked her out of her underwear. Or the Cuban bounty hunter extraordinaire Ricardo Carlo Manoso (aka Ranger). Then there’s Bob, he’s the big, boofy, slobbering, eat anything, ‘dog’ dilemma. You all know; what goes in must come out; and what comes out of Bob are some of the funniest paragraphs in this book. Next, is the ‘pimple’ dilemma. Yes ladies, a pimple – right in the middle of her chin no less! Hmm, upon reflection maybe I should have made this the first dilemma. 😊

Last, but not least; and the reason she has the job at all…..the FTA dilemma. And it’s a big one. This time round, Ranger is wanted for questioning in the murder of a known arms dealer. However, Ranger is MIA and Steph’s cousin, Vinnie has given her the job of finding him. Steph quickly works out that if Ranger doesn’t want to be found, she’s not going to find him. Crap! What a dilemma. However, that doesn’t mean that Ranger is out of the picture – far from it. He turns up (uninvited) at Steph’s apartment in a series of clandestine meetings and enlists her help in trying to prove he’s not guilty.

Steph’s not the only one trying to find Ranger. Apart from the cops and the bad guys, Stephanie’s arch nemesis, Joyce Barnhardt is also on the bounty hunter trail.

A shiny black Jeep Cherokee pulled to the curb behind the wind machine, and Joyce Barnhardt got out. She was dress in black leather pants, a black leather bustier, which barely contained her C-cup breasts, a black leather jacket, and high-heeled black boots. Her hair was a brilliant red, teased high and curled. Her eyes were ringed by black liner, and her lashes were thick with mascara. She looked like Dominatrix Barbie.

As in previous stories, Evanovich introduces a couple of new characters, and in Hot Six they are Mooner and Dougie (aka the Dealer). There’s also Habib and Mitchell – two ‘heavies’ who work for a local mobster. Habib and Mitchell seem to pursue Steph throughout the entire book and, in a series of comical events, seem to be plagued with the same car trouble gene that Steph has.

Suspending disbelief is a definite requirement for this series as Stephanie gets into some crazy and dangerous situations. Especially when you leave your courage at home in the same place as your gun – in the cookie jar.

The whole cast of regulars also make appearances. A special mention lastly goes to Grandma Mazur.

The front door banged open and closed, and Grandma stormed into the kitchen. ‘I did it! I passed my driver’s test!’

Heaven help us.

Janet Evanovich has done it again, she made me snort coffee out of my nose and she left me with stomach ache from laughing so hard. This is without a doubt one of my favourite comedic series and I'm enjoying it just as much on a reread.

Stephanie is one of the most completely clueless bounty hunters you'll ever come across, you'd think she might be getting the hang of things by now but really she just blunders along in her own little world seemingly catching the bad guys by accident. I know she's a klutz and I know she's totally hopeless but I can't help it, I love her anyway! Her sassy attitude and snark is a constant source of amusement and her crazy family and fun sidekicks just add to the hilarity. Grandma Mazur gets a lot of page time in this book and I love that nutty old bird just as much, you can definitely tell which side of the family Stephanie takes after.

Just when you think Stephanie has her love life sorted something comes along and mixes it up, in this case it's her growing attraction to Ranger and his darkly seductive flirting that sends her pulse racing. Ranger is in trouble and for once he's the one who needs Stephanie's help. He's been set up for murder and it's up to our hapless heroine to try and prove his innocence, something which is definitely easier said than done. Then you have Morelli, he's her on again / off again lover and while their relationship might currently be in the off position he's not given up on changing that. In fact he's going all out to win Stephanie around to his way of thinking.

Throw in a deranged arsonist, a rather large dog who will eat anything, two newly destroyed cars, and a new permanent houseguest and Stephanie is way out of her depth. I don't think I'll ever get enough of these books and I can't wait to read the next one!

When I finished the first book of this series, I wasn't sure I wanted to carry on with it. Then I told myself let's give it a chance, and I'm happy I did. It's only getting better, and most importantly, it helped me gradually get over my reading slump 😍
I'm grabbing the seventh book now. Let's see what it has in stores for me 😁

What do you do when you hit a reading funk? You go back to your old standbys. For me, that means a trip to “The Burg,” the old stomping grounds of bumbling bond enforcement agent, Stephanie Plum.

There was a little twist here, as the wanted man in this story is none other than the mysterious Ranger, Steph’s mentor in the bounty hunting biz. A pawn in an organized crime ring is murdered and burned in a building downtown, and Ranger was the last man seen out of the building. Along the way Steph gets mixed up in a number of botched recoveries with Lula in tow and Mooner as a secondary partner of sorts.

It's the usual flair here, so nothing all that new. There’s comfort in meeting familiar characters, seeing what they’re up to. It does get a little creative in terms of developing new people in Steph’s life and accelerating (sorta/kinda) her lovelife, which I thought was a nice touch. Dialogue is snappy and funny, Steph knows everyone who knows everyone, and the suspense is there. It’s a good mystery, maybe just slightly edgier than the last.

It also feels dated: they just started to have cel phones, but they still carry pagers. And I felt like the later versions (remember: I skipped – pardon the pun – around a lot) feel more intricate and funny. So, I’m considering just picking up around #24 or so. What do you think?

Entertaining mystery listening 🎶🔰

This novel came available on Kindle Unlimited and I took advantage of it. Once again Janet Evanovich has done ✔ it in a Stephanie Plum novel lots of family and friends relationships, a little romance with Morelli, lots of action and misdirection as Stephanie and Luna continue their bounty hunter business. Grammy adds a lot fun to the story. I would highly recommend this series and author to 👍 readers of romantic mystery novels 👍🔰. 2023 👒😀😡😮

Mystery. Stephanie Plum! Being tailed. Again! Car on fire. Again! Has an unwelcome houseguest. Again! I was warned these books get predictable, but I...didn't think it'd be this bad? Okay, okay, I'm shaking it off.

This here's the book where Ranger's wanted for questioning in connection to a fire and also a murder and has Stephanie doing stakeouts for him. During the course of the investigation, she picks up a dog and a roommate, and then a couple more roommates. Ranger's pretty frisky here. Morelli's getting antsy on account of not getting any. And Stephanie's still making the same stupid mistakes. This book really lacked focus. A lot was going on and everything felt kind of scattered and vague. More so than usual, even.

Two stars. It was still funny and hot; it just needed a stronger plot to drive it.

Stephanie Plum is back in Hot Six with all of the humor and bad luck her readers have come to expect. This book is action-packed and filled with eccentric characters, some returning and some new to the series. I thoroughly enjoyed the previous five books in this series, but this one may be my favorite so far.

Stephanie Plum, bounty hunter not so extraordinaire, is told by her cousin and boss, Vinnie, that he has a bond jumper for her to locate. When Stephanie finds that it is former Special Forces member and fellow bounty hunter, Ranger, she declines. Ranger, arrested for carrying a concealed gun without a license, has failed to appear after being caught on video leaving the scene of a fire and murder. Ranger appears to be the top suspect, but while Stephanie believes the mysterious man is capable of much, she believes he is too intelligent to have been captured by camera if he were really involved. Ranger contacts Stephanie and asks for her help in watching the Ramos family, the shady relatives of the murder victim and owners of the building that burned. While Stephanie tries to do what she can to help Ranger, she has to confront her usual array of problems that include being followed by unscrupulous characters, having a huge dog dumped on her, Grandma Mazur moving into her apartment, being shot at, and the loss of another car to fire. Stephanie is involved with on again, off again cop boyfriend, Joe Morelli, but she also finds her attraction growing for Ranger. Morelli is also working on the case, as he shares Stephanie's conviction that Ranger is innocent of this crime. As the situation heats up and danger stalks Stephanie, they must rush to solve this mystery.

I loved this book. I always like Morelli, but found him to be more tender and concerned about Stephanie in this book than usual. The usual sexual tension heats up between Stephanie and Joe, but this time she is also struggling with a not so welcome attraction for Ranger. Grandma Mazur's antics are just as hilarious as usual, and this time a large dog named Bob adds to the entertainment. This is another great book for fans of Stephanie Plum.

"You know, when you're a cop you get to a point where you think you've heard it all," he finally said. "You think there's nothing left that could surprise you. And then you come along, and it's a whole new ball game."

I agree Morelli, but you know what? Stephanie is not the worst, it's everyone that surrounds her who is. In this series they're all crazy mad. Poor Stephanie's mother, why is it always her? Why does she have such a daughter and such a mother that should be a poor old lady but actually behaves like a rebel teenager? Haha.

He pulled me out of my chair and kissed me.
The doorbell rang, and we both jumped apart.
"Shit!" Morelli said. "Now what? It's always something! Grandmothers and murderers and pagers going off. I can't take it anymore."

Poor Morelli HAHAHA. At some point those interruption were starting to annoy me as well WTH 😂
But finally Morelli realized that he has to marry Stephanie! Yay! High five!

I really didn't understand the FTA case, but that was wild! How does Janet Evanovich keep writing these books and not run out of ideas?

P.s. RANGER GO AWAY. You're cool and everything but Stephanie already has a man and you're late to the party. Sorry.

Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series is brilliant. Totally hilarious and worth its weight in gold.

Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter with attitude and an interesting fashion sense runs around with her sidekick Lula in attempt to catch and haul in criminals that have missed their court date.

Working for Vinnie, is interesting to say the least. Vinnie is anything but vanilla. His lifestyle and preference in partners although highly abnormal by society’s standards, I find intriguing and laughable. If you don’t understand something .. might as well poke and prod at it until it makes some kind of sense.

It was rumored that Vinnie had once been in love with a duck. And Joyce was said to be fond of large dogs. But somehow, the thought of them together was even more horrible.

Curiously finding herself with more roommates than she can handle, her Grandma Mazur and a stoner named Mooner, exhaustion rips through her and the only thing to keep her focussed is the food on the table, and the expectation that eventually her sex life will find its way back into her pants.

“Hey dude,” he said, “your granny fixed me some pancakes. You’re, like, so lucky to have your granny living with you. She’s totally the bomb, dude.”

Mooner is a character to say the least.

Stephanie’s relationship with Ranger takes an interesting turn. The growing attraction between them leaves them rolling around on her apartment floor, knee-deep in kisses and his roaming hands .. at least until Mazur busts out of the bedroom. Saved by Grandma or damned for days of mental lusting?

Between Morelli, Grandma and Ranger, Stephanie really has her hands full in this book. Mobsters jumping into her car to escape the freak show of a family, to Star Trek riots, this book is filled with tons of funny scenes.

With that said, I really didn’t find myself tempted to read this book. Sure, as hilarious as the others, filled with plots that leave your toes tingling, you would assume I’d get my kicks off. But for some reason, it really didn’t float my boat.

I’m not giving this book a bad review. Evanovich is awesome, and her books are phenomenal. I just didn’t care much for this one

I do recommend this book to anyone needing a laugh. If you’re reading this series, then of course this is a MUST READ! Mild sexual content and violence. Dead bloody bodies but with little detail for the sensitive minds.

I’m looking forward to the next book of this series, Seven Up!

Happy reading!

The Prologue starts with Steph in a sexy little black dress. The line from a 2019 song by Florida Georgia Line, "Don't get me wrong girl, I love it. Now I just want to get you out of it." keeps running in my head long after I read this very hot, sexy section. That is just the start of one of the best and funniest books of the series. I didn't see the end of this one and Steph gets involved up to her eyeballs with Joe, Ranger and a twisted case. Lots of fun and we get introduced to Bob. I've decided that I'm going to be Grandma Mazur when I grow up. I even know which of my four granddaughters is most likely to be Stephanie! I have got to say, I wasn't happy with the audio as it was an abridged version and lacked a lot, so I went back to the book.

Stephanie Plum is a Bail Enforcement Officer, aka Bounty Hunter. She has a remarkably good record for someone who has no clue what she is doing, but manages to get the job done anyway. When Ranger, yeah Ranger, goes FTA Stephanie refuses to take the job, but ends up smack dab in the middle anyway. Another car, or two, bite the dust. Steph makes friends with a gun runner with a nicotine habit. Two goons working for a drug dealer tail her hoping to get to Ranger. Steph makes friends with Mooner and Dougie, who are just adorable. Just another chapter in the life of Stephanie Plum.

Actually, my rating is more like 3.5 stars

This is my first Janet Evanovich book (although sixth in the series, which I didn't realize) so I can't compare to the ones that went before. It's got a peppy pace and is often hilarious with memorable one-liners. She should be a stand-up comedienne! Rare to find a book so humorous and witty.

The characters, the Mooner and Dougie the Dealer, are like totally cool, dude (and dudettes). Perfect caricatures!

The only thing that bogged me down is that it seems to go in circles: the heroine, Stephanie Plum, goes to her office, then goes to her apartment, after that she goes to her mother's house, then comes back to her apartment, goes to Hannibal's (the bad guy's) house, goes back to her apartment, goes to the office, goes to the Ramos family's house, goes to the office, goes back to her apartment, goes back to Hannibal's house...around and around so much I got dizzy.

I bought a whole bunch of this author's ebooks, so it won't be the last of Evanovich for me.
Stay tuned.

This is the sixth book in the series but the first one I’ve read as opposed to listening. I enjoy the experience of reading much more, but in this case, I could hear the characters voices in my head as I read… if that makes sense.

Lots of humor, vivid & likable characters and fast pacing will keep me coming back for more. The author just published book #30 in the series, so let the games begin.

After reading the paperbacks in order, I've recently begun reading these books in their unabridged audiobook form in reverse order. I started with #8 (Hard Eight), recently finished up #7 (Seven Up) and the latest listen has been Hot Six. Reading these backwards has been an eye-opening experience and I'm now able to pinpoint exactly where things began to become repetitive for me as a reader (the very beginning of book #7, for those interested).

Hot Six has all of the wit and the fun its two follow-ups lack. Stephanie's car blow ups are still funny, the tension between Stephanie, Ranger and Joe is starting to wear thin but still shows moments of spark and the one-liners are abundant and are grin-worthy. In Hot Six things are just beginning to get that "same-old, same-old" feeling about them.

This time around Stephanie is on the hunt for fellow bounty hunter and lust interest, Ranger, who is a suspect in a murder case. Stephanie doesn't have a chance of catching Ranger and she knows it but she takes on the assignment anyway. Ranger soon visits her in the wee hours of the night and asks for her assistance in helping him prove his innocence. Agreeing to this, of course, only gets bumbling Stephanie into trouble with some very shady characters. As if that weren't enough Stephanie's every move is being followed by two inept bad guys and her nemesis Joyce (AKA the tramp who slept with Stephanie's ex-husband) who all hope to cash in when they bring in Ranger. Hot Six is also the book where we are introduced to Bob the pooping retriever with the eating disorder. I love, love, love Bob. His intestinal distress makes for many a laugh out loud moment. Rounding out the cast is the usual group of oddballs: Lula, the hilarious former prostitute, zany Grandma Mazer (who moves in with Stephanie!), Mooner & Dougie the dopey potheads and Joe Morelli the sexy cop and other object of lust in Stephanie's life.

The plot, the characters, heck just about everything about Hot Six is over the top and silly but that's why I enjoyed it. It's escapist fiction at its best.

Read by C.J. Critt this has been my favorite of the recent unabridged recordings. Critt has a full bodied voice, rich and nuanced with just a touch of sexy raspiness that never gets monotonous or over-the-top. The book was a pure pleasure to "hear" and comes highly recommended.

I think I'm going to give up on the series after reading the first 6 books. I like the fast paced story line and I understand it's not the type of book to have much character development, and I really don't mind that but what I mostly can't stand are love triangles that do not get resolved within a book or so, and I am afraid this series looks like it's going to be one loooooong lasting love triangle (judging by the summary of book 18 that just came out). Another thing I can't stand is that Stephanie is whining about Joe not wanting to settle down and marry her but yet goes around making out with Ranger and getting all hot when he touches her...it's annoying...Joe calls her his girlfriend and she goes around cheating (yes, making out with another man is cheating especially since it happens more than once)on him while she gets upset by him only talking or working with other women and stalks him...So this is why I am giving up on the series, I can't spend 12 books being annoyed but a lame love triangle since it will ruin the whole story for me. It sucks because I really enjoyed the new characters that got introduced, and I think the love triangle is completely unnecessary part of the series.

These are light, make you laugh out loud books. I read them when I want light and I want to laugh. This one was just as good and ridiculous as expected!

Ideal book sorbet after heavier fare and when you need a palate cleanser... Lula's not quite as outrageous as she can get but Ranger is hot, hot, hot!

What a fun ride that was. It took me a long time get through this book due to family medical issues.
I will head off to book 7 after I clear books from other series from Mount TBR.

3.5 ⭐ this was a good one! Stars given for confusion, but if I had read the book rather than listening it probably would have been easier to follow

My Review: Hot Six is another great audiobook by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum is one hell of a bounty hunter… well, sometimes. She’s hilarious and constantly surrounded by drama. This time it’s different though, she’s expected to bring in her friend and fellow bounty hunter, Ranger. Yup, same Ranger that has given her hot flashes in the past.

Stephanie ends up with a spastic dog, Bob, that’s scared to be alone and an eating disorder. Bob only adds to the fun at the house, especially since Grandma Mazar moves in! Grandma Mazar is convinced she’s not going to live with Stephanie’s parents anymore and that she’s going to get her driver’s license. She buys a sweet little car and, of course, fails her driving test. Grandma Mazur is hilarious! Sadly, because this audiobook was abridged, I’m sure a lot of her little quirks were cut out.

As usual, she teams up with Vice Cop Joe Morelli and manages to hold off the craziness to solve the mystery behind a murder.

Narrator Review: Here we go again with Debi Mazar. I’ve made my feelings known in my previous post, High Five, so I won’t go into too much of a bitch session. My biggest complaint, she narrates way too dang fast. Take a breath woman.

On a delicious note, next up is Seven Up, narrated by Lorelei King! WOOT!
