Kingdom of Wolves #8

Ripped To Shreds

Rate this book
War is coming.
And if I don't act fast, everyone I love will pay the price.

I spent thirty days with the aloof serial killer and mobster Vincent Davenport before being passed to the vice president of the Bloody Skulls, Mason.

Mason is the exact opposite of Vincent in every way,
but both men set my heart alight.

While Vincent is ice, Mason is fire.
While Vincent is cold passion, Mason is heat and laughter.

But falling in love is immensely dangerous
when there's a war looming on the horizon.
A war that threatens everyone I have ever come to care about.

As my relationships with both Vincent and Mason grow, I find myself intrigued by the protective, possessive prince of the Totemic Tribe, Tai.

He's everything I shouldn't want in a man -- bossy, arrogant, and possessive -- but I find that I don't want to stay away.
I find that I CAN'T stay away.

One man wants to claim me.
Another wants to protect me.
And the last wants my heart and soul.

All three men despise each other, yet none of them can stay away from me.

Will this queen claim her kings? Or will she fall prey to a war she didn't start?

Entertaining but I was ready for it to be over. Tai's entire storyline at the end was jumbled and rushed. Scenes moved so quickly with emotions pivoting so abruptly that I honestly had a hard time following Tai's whole section. It felt like the author was just squeezing him in at the end but also trying to wrap up the plot. The ending battle was very very rushed. There was a lot of build-up for something that ended in a few short pages.

I enjoyed book 1 more, but it was fine.

Ughhhh. Really??
A fade to black scene at the very end when we’re just about to finally get that group scene?
*sigh*
Why the hell do all of these RH series have to have terribly fucking disappointing endings?!

I mean I enjoyed this.
I liked the concept and the storyline and the characters. But we hardly got anything at all.
I mean all of the characters hinted at things they wanted to do and we got none of that.

Then there’s the fact that Blair is supposedly some assassin and spy for her pack but nobody really says anything about that and she hardly uses that knowledge or skill for anything that’s happening.

I don’t know. It was alright. I’m just disappointed that it ended without giving us everything I wanted from it.

Frustrating!

I'm Disappointed. The first book had action, backstory, mystery, love and gave me all the feelings I want a book to give me. I was so excited for this one to come out and it started off great but it felt very rushed. The men seemed to change personalities, which I hated, and it didn't hold my attention so I kept putting it down. Sadly, I skimmed through half of the book.

The conclusion to this duet was, honestly, kind of rushed. The final relationships (Tai's specifically) seemed convenient. The connection didn't have enough time to grow. The plot line within the romance seemed rushed as well. I would have enjoyed more buildup or a few more obstacles for these character to really make sure they grew into themselves properly. I did like the story ideas, and the characters themselves were great!

This was the best thing I’ve ever read, from start to finish I was hooked into their story especially having waited on this since the cliffy in book 1. This book dealt more with Blair having to come to terms that she definitely had 3 mates and was falling in love with all of them even though they’re supposed to be enemies.

I loved all the guys for what they each brought to the table. Vincent is cold yet protective & just warrants safety & control. Mason is the goof ball, flirt & the one who you instantly love bc HES the bestfriend to lover guy. Then we have Tai the stoic protective & also partner in crime who’s a little bruised from his past trauma.

They all have one thing in common and that’s Blair. I’m just obsessed with RHs a whole and the relationship dynamics they all put their differences aside because they all love her and they find a way to make it work. Ms. Katie wrote this almost too perfectly, I’m really trying to find something wrong with it and I cannot. The steam was intense, sexual chemistry was everywhere in this book. I also loved how action is packed this was, when I was at the 70% mark my nerves were shot!

The banter between everyone I was actually laughing out loud because of how funny it was. Aaahh I just love them so much man. The ending was so perfect. I can’t wait for what comes next.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

- SLOOOOW burn
- shifters/wolves
- why choose
- enemies to lovers
- found family
- MC/mafia-ish
- all grumpy no sunshine 😅

This Duet is sooooo gooood!!

The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because I wanted so much more.

The ending felt rushed.🥺

I wanted more of their life after fixing things. I want to see Val and his chemistry. I want to see Mason with his mom. I want MORE 😫

It also would have had a 4 for spice but the ending scene was the ONE we were waiting for and it faded to black 😱😭

I loved the storyline even though the slow burn was TORTURE.

I cant find anymore books by her in this world but I've reached out to confirm.

Katie mays books are hit or miss for me. This one was mostly a hit. I liked the characters and plot. The i love u was a little rushed, but more planned out compared to her other books. Instant love sucks. I liked that the FML was a badass. I wish she wrote her as she started with being a spy and assassin. It didnt really show that in most of the book and she just let sht happen. There was perfect opportunity to kill the bad guys and they didnt. They fumbled it. Mason was really funny and i liked his jokes. Im glad she got brett back. I didnt like the rushed lackluster ending and it felt like a certain character died just to rush and add stuff to the plot so it didn't seem easy. It was interesting the choice of mates not liking other mates and forcing her to choose. Total dick move but authors rarely do that so it was an interesting take. I really hope katie play does more character building and relationship building. As it is, its too rushed and insant love. The characters are flat and dont always fit their descriptions, like her being a badads killer but gets stailroaded all through the book and doesn't know what to do. Valentina has all these killers for hire and spies but doesn't eliminate the bad guys easily with all their money. Tais 2 youngest siblings didnt even have a role and i would have liked to see that. And more focus on their trauma like Percy. It doesnt even seen they are affected or think of them. With reverse harem the mistake is made doing insant love and no relationship building. This one was rare where it had more building than her other books. But i think she should do that even if it ends up being a longer book with more in the series. Show them actually doing stuff instead of things happening to them and sex. I love the plots (minus the sexism) and changing that woupd make the series so much better respectfully

Good, satisfying ending

Well, all the loose ends are tied up and I always love how Katie May writes decent conflict between the MCs but doesn't take the angst too far.

I really enjoyed Blair as the FMC of this story. It's tough to balance a badass FMC so they don't come across too arrogant or too stubborn. Blair is a great and relatable character who is able to recognize that she can't do everything alone and actually thinks before acting.

The guys are each very distinctive as well which is a huge plus. I never found myself becoming confused between the 3 which sometimes happens in books with larger harems.

Just as with the first book in this series by this author, I am a bit repulsed by the female MC, Blair, because immediately after leaving the man she learns is her fated mate, she willingly goes with his rival/enemy to a biker bar and witnesses an orgy beginning and then chats nonchalant about it with him. Ug. But then the story grabs me, just like the previous book, with a shocking discovery and plunge into a gripping family drama/reunion that brings tears to my eyes and makes me admire Katie’s imagination. There are some inconsistencies such as Tio’s mom’s injuries from her husband’s abusive behavior, that should have healed from her shifter abilities. And the description of the aged shifters, like Papa, when shifters live hundreds of years. But, like with every book in this genre that I’ve read, I suspend my disbelief and read on. The sexual banter between Blair and Mase (Mason) is visceral and crass which I’m not sure I like but I DO like their mutual challenge to make each other fall in love without being the one who falls. That in and of itself would make for a good book. This has been a fun read and I like the way that Kate approaches the RH subject, not as if this is the way of their culture but instead it is an anomaly and it works out. I also like a book that elicits a lot of emotion from me including laughter, which this book does. All in all, I liked the story enough that I plan to find more Katie May books to read.

Enjoyable ending to the series

Katie May, I take my hat off to you for starting the book with a summary of the previous book. So many times I've waited patiently to read the next book in a series but it takes so long that I've forgotten much of the previous book and sometimes I have to reread the ending of the previous book to remind myself.

Book 2 starts off where book 1 finished, with Blair on the back of Mason's bike leaving poor Vincent behind. Book 2 encompasses the final 2 months of Blair's time with the remaining enemy packs and leads us to the conclusion. It's actually nice to have a short duet series.

I thought Mason was quite funny and surprisingly sweet. It was also good to get confirmation of Grunt's identity.

What did confuse me was Tai. Prior to Blair moving on to his pack, Tai seemed as if he would be the easiest person to adjust mentally to the RH aspect, but then it was like he shut down, with both him and Blair just not communicating at all, which was a little frustrating.

Because this book is 2 months compared to the 1 month in the first book, there were some gaps in time, but this didn't worry me too much.

I did enjoy the humour included in the story, particularly with Mason and the other guys. But there were also some emotional scenes as well.

Overall a good ending to the series.

So in the end I can say, it was a satisfying read and a round ending.

I liked the story, even if it felt kind of rushed. But the ideas were fantastic, and all things got a conclusion. For a shifter series, there were actually not much wolf time. Even in the war, it seems they mostly fight with guns. I know not all the different wolf species could shift, but even those who could don't do it? I wasn't quite sure why. But it wasn't a major issue.

The relationship between Blair and her men were... well, I'm not sure how to phrase it best, but it felt for me that there were not much time they spent with each other. The story focused a lot on the war and the problems. What I totally get. But I felt bereft and there could have been more build up.

I was a huge fan of the guys. Blair, not so much. It isn't that she is totally bad. She has her good sides. But I don't find her very badass, and she didn't seem to think much when she does something. And the most part of both books, she was in denial. But that's a personal opinion.

In the end I like it anyway and enjoyed it.

This was book 2 in a duology

This was book 2 from author Katie May's contribution to them Kingdom of Wolves series. The Kingdom of Wolves series where several books by various authors in the same universe/basic mythology of various wolves including Fenrir, Toetemic, Lycan's and Bitten (in the case of Ms. May's books).

I came across the series via another author contribution and fortunately several of the authors also expanded with additional books that follow their particular characters such as above with Blair, Vincent, Mason, and Tai.

I have to admit that initially I'm usually not a big fan of Mafia/MC themes but the paranormal element helps me to overcome my skepticism.

After reading book 1 I immediately preorder Ripped to Shreds as I was fully invested with the world and this storyline.

I highly suggest checking out all the books offered in the Kingdom of Wolves series.

This book is pure gold. The first book left my heart hurting. Blair had to leave Vincent who she just found out is her mate, to go to the bloody skulls VP Mason. That man has sex written all over him, I’d lick him. Just saying. But even with the VP at her back, she isn’t safe at the Bloody skulls. With a mate waiting for her, and two others vying for her to pick them this book was full of tension. Not to mention the three alphas are all positive she belongs to them. I personally believe Katie is the master of sex scenes. Even ones Blair witness were very hot. This book was full of action too. We know Blair has a purpose visiting all three wolves. Tai is the perfect conclusion to her trip around the wolves, and no one is safe….unfortunately. I’m sad this is over, but Katie wraps it up perfectly.

I don’t feel like this was as good as the last book, however I still enjoyed it.

I felt like Tai’s story was rushed, and he seemed to change into a completely different person once Blair was around. He could barely speak to her and considering we saw a lot from him during her stays with the others he seemed quite shy and reserved.

I liked Mason don’t get me wrong but sometimes I thought he was just acting like a little boy.

Vincent was my fave boy because he truly grew as a character.

Valentina was absolutely brilliant and I can’t wait for her book with Brett.

I feel like we should have 3 books for this series, a book for each mate because Vincent seemed to get a lot in book 1, Mason got quite a bit and Tai didn’t really get anything.

We didn’t even get to see the foursome at the end which was disappointing.

Overall it was a good storyline but it could have been better

Idk I'm kinda mixed on this review it was an OK read but idk if I'd read it again. The fmc just erked me in some ways and I didn't even remotely like her until maybe 60%. in this second book. Idk I've just been not connecting well with fmc lately so It could just be me. Anywho that ending felt a little rushed and kinda feels unfinished in a way. Would of loved an epilogue too. So all in all it an OK read, I'd rate it a 3 star.

Ps: in the beginning there's this like character glossary and the last person on the list says Paco Tai's best friend but his best friends name was Pieter in the first book.
Also in the first book Brett told her to run but in this one she just replies she ran and kept running as though he didn't know that.

Okay so I am super sad that Papa Gray died. But I love that she was able to reconnect with her brother and eventually their grandmother. I was both not surprised and shocked by the fact that Grim attacked her. I was honestly loving how silly and endearing Mason was. I love that Vincent and Tai were both stalking her. It took them a little bit to accept it but they finally did. I was not expecting Mason and Tai to be brothers, that shook me. I’m glad there is a book about Valentina and Brett, because I need more. I loved that Tai was so nervous at first, it was adorable. The four of them worked together and the war was over and handled pretty quick. This was a fast paced, hilarious read.

Amazing Conclusion!

I absolutely love this ending for Blair and her mates. I honestly don't think it could have been written any better!
Blair once again remained the strong fearless FMC we fell in love with in the first book.
The guys... they all came together for a mutual goal and love of a girl that was nothing but an enemy.
I can't wait to revisit them in future books!
Amazing job Katie!

Loved it!!

This book is all the things. Hilarious, fun, exciting, romantic, action packed, and just all around awesome. The FMC is perfect. She's a combination of vulnerable and badass. The plot kept me on the edge of my seat and was both interesting and original. Katie May writes complex characters that just come to life on the page. I loved this book and can't wait to read more from this author.

Ripped to Shreds

Katie May can write a heck of a novel that slides right into the omegaverse. I love her take on all the different wolves and mannerisms. The love story within this second installment exploded and had you feeling way more connected with the characters than the first installment, in my opinion.

The ending has some heartbreak but some happiness as well. All the strings were tied up nicely. I suggest diving in if you’re on the fence.

Brilliant

This series is definitely one of my favourites. Each of the main characters are so unique to each other that they complement one another perfectly. Brilliantly written without too much x rated content that can sometimes overshadow the emotional journey. To me a perfect balance. Can’t pick a favourite character but loved the humour added by mason first then added to by the others xx

mc shifter mafia oh my

I loved this universe all the authors were a part of. I’m so happy this one has finished and no more cliffies to worry about. Blair is strong sassy and alpha. The guys, just wow. I still can’t believe that shocking revelation at the end. My mind is blown. Lots happen and loose ends get closed. You need to read this duet pronto.

Excellent Conclusion

Great second in this duet, part of the Kingdom of Wolves world. Learning about Mason and Tai and their packs, the strengthening of Blair’s bond with Vincent, twists and turns, bloodshed and battles...this will be read in one binge read. Solid 5 stars for this instalment.

Paused at 84% (location 3371, page 213). Book is okay. Probably would have finished it if I didn't fall into a great new (to me) author and her backlist. May or may not finish this, since I'm so close anyway. Either way, won't lose any sleep over it.

Triple the men yes please!

The female lead in our twisted plot of lust, torture, death, and orgasms is a bit too calm at times for me. But she certainly becomes the heart of all her alpha men. Each alpha male brings something to the mix and together they evenly distributed the power and the sexy love!

In the second book of this duology we get to see Blair's interactions with Mason & Tai. War is coming and they all have to decide how they are going to face it.

I loved seeing Blair's interaction with Mason, Tai & Vincent. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait to read Katie May's backlist.

I’m blown away by every word that I read. For Blair this is the hardest time in her life and I can’t imagine how much I felt from her relationships and how she managed to keep everyone from falling apart. I love how strong she is and how she’ll love fiercely. I loved how everything came together and they found happiness.

These were great, they may be may favourite of the KoW series

At least for fun, they don’t tear your heart out and stomp on it like some others and there’s less stupid decisions, it’s just fun and sexy times with a threat in the background. The guys all have distinct personalities and looks and Blair is pretty handy and her personality isn’t subsumed by the men around her.
