Brexley has endured starvation and survived torture and even Warwick Farkas, the brutal legend who still haunts her like a ghost, spilling into her thoughts and life. His betrayal made her a prisoner of Killian, the gorgeous Fae Lord of Budapest.
There her life takes another unforeseen twist, something that will change the fragile alliance between the humans and the fae, and Brexley finds herself in the middle.
As weeks go by, Brexley also discovers Killian isn’t the malicious leader she was told about. As they spend more time together, their relationship begins to shift. However, when an old acquaintance turns up, she is given the chance to escape the sexy fae leader, and her entire world explodes.
Brexley is thrown into a nefarious web of politics, desire, betrayal, lies, and truths that will shatter her foundation and who she is, what she believes, and who can be trusted. No longer is there a clear line between good and bad.
Hunted by both sides, Brexley is on the run and must untangle all the lies, deceit, and deceptions, before she becomes another victim in the wild lands.
Stacey Marie Brown is a lover of hot fictional bad boys and sarcastic heroines who kick butt. She also enjoys books, travel, TV shows, hiking, writing, design, and archery. Stacey swears she is part gypsy, being lucky enough to live and travel all over the world.
this series is a drug and i want to inject it straight into my veins.
everything i loved about the first book is still alive and well in this sequel - the central/eastern european rep, the betrayals and rebellions, the great characters (main and side), and all of the cool magic! still an absolute page turner of a story.
the reason why this isnt getting 5 stars like the first book is because im a little over the whole “i hate you but im attracted to you” angst. yeah, it was good for tension/build up in book 1, but it feels too dragged out in this installment. im just ready for them to figure out the bond and give in to exploring feelings other than hate.
but like an addict, im gonna continue to chase the feelings of that first high, so onto book #3!
It's so hard to put this series down, I'm basically devouring it🙈 I like how fast the storyline moves. There's never a dull moment. Brexley and Warwick as usual have sizzling chemistry, which makes you want more and immediately root for them. I'm so intrigued by Scorpion's character and the connection he shares with Brex. I seriously have so many questions, hopefully they'll be answered soon.
It got slightly repetitive that Brex can't stay safe in a place for more than a week or Warwick always have to rescue her then seduce her and leave. It's become a cycle. Also, how she keeps getting shot👀Hopefully in the next book that won't be the case.
The cliffhanger again was so good 🤌 Can't wait to start with the next one.
✅ Dystopia ✅ Action scenes ✅🆗 Brex and Warwick’s bond ✅🆗 Characters ✅🆗 Writing ✅🆗 Plot 🆗 Feeling of insta-love and insta-attraction 🆗 “I’m not like the other girls” ❗️❗️ Trigger warnings: captivity
2.5 stars I guess… That one was disappointing, and I am not sure if I want to continue this series or not.
Honestly, at times it felt like I was reading a fanfiction. The writing is not too bad, but the way the plot kept jumping all over the place, and the freaking written sound effects gave this book an unpolished feeling. There were also weaknesses in the writing of the first book, but the originality of the plot and the fast pace made up for it. Here, the plot was getting pretty repetitive. It was mostly :
1. Brex being somewhere and needing to escape. 2. Brex and Warwick having conversations and touching each other through their weird bond. 3. Warwick making a building explode to create a diversion. 4. Brex and Warwick fleeing (usually on his motorcycle). 4. Repeat steps 1 to 4 as much as needed to fill the page quota.
This book starts with Brex being held captive by Killian after Warwick betrayed her at the end of the first book. At first, I really liked Killian. His refined and sophisticated appearance, the way he seemed to be so ruthless, but also dashing and elegant, I LOVED it… But then there was a kind of insta-attraction between Brex and him and any was all ruined. To be fair, it did happen over a few weeks, but the author decided to do a time jump and fast forward from “Brex is a prisoner and they despise each other” to “they spent the past few weeks working together every day and now they kinda like each other”. The time jump prevented us from seeing this bond form, so it felt like a rushed insta-attraction, and I disliked it. It felt so out of character for the centuries-old ruthless fae king to fall for Brex so quickly, like a hormonal teenager.
It feels like Brex is just running from one place to the other. She starts in Killian’s palace, then she runs and goes to the HDR, until she needs to run again and join another group, only to be running again a few hours later. Sure it’s a lot of action, but it lost its impact at one point because all she did was run from everyone, and it also affected the relationship development.
She sees Caden again, but they only spend about 24 hours together, and his part in this book is pointless. He was there to add some angst, for about 2 pages, and that’s it because then Brex has to flee again. She meets a new group of people and seems to be becoming friends with them, but guess what? She needs to run again a few hours after meeting them and still, she grieves the loss of one of those new friends “like the death of a family member” because of a special connection they had… It felt a little intense and unrealistic. It also feels like she started 10 different plans and 7 new relationships in this book, but never really finished anything because she was too busy dropping everything and fleeing.
Brex seemed pretty stupid at times too… For instance, she learns that a guard at the prison has been working with the rebels, helping them plan her escape… and then she is shocked when she discovers that this mysterious guard is Zander. I mean, she saw that he was helping them escape, and still, she is shocked to discover that he was the one helping the rebel with her escape?! And she thinks that it’s pretty clever that Ling has been telling people in the prison that her name is Lynx, or that her new friend calls her “X” instead of Brex because nobody uses their real names so they can’t be associated with the rebels. Because X and Brex are SO different…
I also have to say that I am still not Warwick’s biggest fan… I can see the appeal, but I still found him lacking a personality in this sequel. The weird connection between Warwick and Brex is also getting even weirder. Brex now calls it her “ghost self” and they are learning to control it, so they can talk to and see each other whenever they want. Of course, they also use it to touch each other inappropriately or see each other naked in almost every other chapter. At this point, it feels like the author just wanted a way to add some steam to the series without rushing their romance, which I appreciate, because I despise insta-love, but on the other hand, I still don’t feel the chemistry between them so their weird ghost-touching is not sexy to me, it’s just weird.
So I am still on the fence about the third book. I enjoyed Savage Lands and was ready to devour this series, but now I am not sure anymore I want to invest the time and energy to continue. I just don’t care about Brex, I still don’t like Warwick that much, and the plot jumping all over the place is just getting ridiculous… Help me, does it get better in the third book? Should I give it a try?
I’m sorry, I know you guys all loved this series, but I’m having a severe case of “it’s not you, it’s me” here. I was not sure about the first book but I was hoping the second would work better so I kept on reading.
The beginning was ok, Killian was intriguing enough, but then Warwick just had to again show up out of the blue and annoy me. I cannot get myself to like Warwick, he is a pretentious prick and he treats Brexley like shit. I don’t understand why she sees him everywhere and I just find it weird, even for a fantasy book. I have absolutely no clue what his deal is, but frankly I don’t care enough to continue.
All in all reading this felt like watching a movie with the sound off. I was intrigued at first and tried to follow but at some point I had too many questions to be able to enjoy the story.
The “relationship” for lack of a better word, between Brexley and Warwick is extremely toxic. I would root for ANY of the other guys who pine after her tbh (and what’s so special about her btw that they all do??). But he is supposed to be the love interest, right?!
I understand that this story has a certain appeal and there were parts of it that I did enjoy, but it was not enough to commit to four more books.
I did not enjoy this one as much as the first book but it’s still good overall!
✅ STILL A VERY EXCITING story and Stacey Marie Brown definitely knows how to keep me reading. We start to learn a lot more about this world and the secrets people were holding but there’s still a lot of unknowns to keep you guessing.
🆗 CADEN’S CHARACTER assassination was quite brutal but I kind of saw it coming so wasn’t too surprised by it. So much for bff’s lol
❌ THERE IS A LOT going on with the plot - it feels like Brexley is always starting a new and exciting adventure without fully resolving the situation she was in before. It felt like there were a lot of cut scenes where we abruptly went to a new setting and new set of characters. The one good thing about this is I can tell we will get a really complex and robust story once everything eventually connects and comes together.
✅ WARWICK IS DEFINITELY growing on me and this slow burn is killing me 🥵😩 Even though it’s taking forever for them to seal the deal… their mysterious connection still makes this romance feel steamy.
Even though I didn’t like this as much as the first book it was still enjoyable and I’ll definitely keep reading the rest of the series! I can just tell this story is going to be really epic and I can’t wait to finally see Warwick and Brexley figure out their shit and become the power couple they were meant to be 🥰
I am still loving this series, but the unanswered questions in my analytical brain are starting to pile up. I am willing to wait but I am really hoping the author will provide logical answers to all of them. Fingers crossed that she has a plan and isn’t building the plane as she’s flying it.
The fact that every guy she meets is obsessed with her is a little fishy since it didn’t seem like that was her lived experience prior to being imprisoned. Other than that I haven’t noticed too many major plot holes. Maybe her differences were somehow activated when she first came into contact with Warwick?
I love the fast paced nature of this series, but it is starting to get tedious that she keeps getting shot and captured and that she needs to be rescued every other day. Mostly it has been pretty unavoidable on her part but her actions leading up to the final abduction really had me rolling my eyes. Ninety percent of the time she is such a badass FMC and then she does something truly asinine that makes me want to slap some sense into her.
The tension between Warwick and Brexley is sizzling but I’m going to be pretty cranky if I don’t see some forward movement with their relationship in the next book. The phantom touches are not gonna cut it for another whole book. Heck, I’d be happy with a kiss at this point.
This series is seriously so addicting and the cliffhangers make it so hard not to jump straight into the next book! For once I’m glad to be late to the party. I would have lost my mind if I had read these sooner and had to wait for new releases.
3.5 It’s entertaining and easy to read. It still reads more like fanfic (the written sound effects are killing me!) but its interesting and the world building is engaging. It is a “she’s not like other girls” and “what is it about you” ( they actually say this several times ) kind of book. So if this isn’t something you tolerate well I would pass but the book does have some awesome action scenes and cool dystopian themes.
-------------------- All I can say right now is stop whatever you're doing. Pick this series up. And you're welcome.
I can't explain how amazing this book is. If you love Ilona Andrews or T.A. White stuffs, you should definitely pick this up. It is one of the most action packed fast paced UF romance books I've ever read. There are multiple explosions, bike chase scenes, badassery that is Braxley and the sexy monster that is Warwick. And maybe one of the most original plots in a UF I've ever read.
You can feel the tension in some of the scenes in here, be on the edge of your seats because it never went down. It was a fast pace book, which was exactly what I NEED right now. And trust me, you won't regret the journey you're in once you start. Maybe regret because you have to wait some time for the next book. Oh yeah, a big regret there.
Eagerly reading this series -read this book in a freaking day??- like my life depends on it. Thanks to whoever suggested it to me. You guys are definitely gonna pay for my therapy but I eventually owe you all a fruit basket for the rec. We've got plenty of 🍌. Lemme know if you also want kiwis in yours.
Having given the first book in this series 4.5 stars I'm very disappointed in how this one played out. The first book had its flaws, but there was a ton of intrigue too. This addition took all the flaws from the first book, multiplied them by 10, and then made it the entire storyline.
The plot is essentially this: - Brexley gets into trouble - BOOOM a bomb goes off - A motorcycle escape with lots of dodging bullets and miraculously surviving - Meets up with random X character for help (This is often a character we heard about in the past that is now being revealed/introduced) - Repeat Note: Throughout this little loop we have constant reminders of how Warwick is LITERALLY SEX and Brexley is MAGNETIC AND DESIRABLE TO EVERYONE.
It felt like I was reading the same thing over and over again. That same loop happened 3-4 times throughout the book. The books ends on the "Brexley gets into trouble" step, which leads me to believe the next book with begin with "BOOOM a bomb goes off" and then follow the same formula from there. Basically, this didn't cut it for me. My interest wasn't held and I was ready for the book to end.
My other complaints, which I did have when reading the first book, are amplified in this addition. First off, literally EVERYONE wants Brexley. Male, female, powerful, weak, every single person she encounters is obsessed with her and can't fight her pull. She's just soooo beautiful, but is also ugly skinny and has no curves or boobs. See? So alluring. I understand this will probably be explained at some point, but I don't care. It's incredibly annoying and Brexley is just meh. She makes really poor decisions and thinks she's super badass when she's really not. Every single time Brexley needs to hold her own and actually fight she can't do it. She needs help from others or is captured. Oh yeah and when she's captured someone else steps in to save her there too. She constantly talks about how she's been through so much - you see she was rich and spoiled and then had to go to jail for a couple of months. She even had to kill a couple of people! Yeah, she also got beat up every second of her existence there, couldn't keep her mouth shut, and could barely take on an untrained middle aged women, but guys she's ~so tough~. Overall her character regressed so much.
Now for Warwick and the connection Warwick + Brexley have. Unsurprisingly, I hate both. Warwick is terrible and has literally no redeeming qualities. Why should I root for him? Oh yes, he's sex on a stick. He leans against walls, is huge, powerful and wants 0 connection with Brexley. Honestly, I don't blame him for wanting to stay away from her, it's the sane reaction here, but they are obviously set up as the "love match" in this story. Well, I take that back. Idk if they are. I think so? But Warwick has shown he cares for her maybe 3 times max. It's all a mess. The sexual chemistry is shoved in my face enough that I'm picking up the hints, but I need more than that to actually believe a connection between the two. Also, it's overkill to have this much dancing around sex/sexual tension. It's no longer sexy. We see a lot of pressing dicks into backs, phantom touching (one orgasm via the weird phantom touching btw but nothing else). And look, I don't mind heroes who are complete jerks and lots of sexual overtones when I read books. In fact some of my favorite books have those themes, but this was written in such a way it doesn't work. I'm thinking of Knox in Legacy of the Nine Realms (Amelia Hutchins). He had no redeeming qualities and was a huge jerk, but Amelia still made me love him. The difference seems to be that while Warwick sucks his character is also quite one dimensional. OH! And at one point Brexley watches him have sex with 4 women while he of course wants nothing to do with her. How is this sexy at all?
And a side note, the brownie and the imp are wildly annoying. I think they are being used as some sort of comic relief but it should have been left out entirely. Those scenes, similar to the plot, were stuck on a loop and happened over and over again. Brexley would wake up in X location, brownie and imp are present wearing insane clothes, random talking and wildly annoying chatter, repeat.
I'm really disappointed and don't plan on continuing the series. Bummer that I wasted money on this.
Well, tits. The obsession is in place. There’s no going back for me.
THE SEXUAL TENSION. Okay, that is all.
Not really. So this series seems to be nonstop action and slow teases which apparently works for me. The world is steadily expanding as Brexley uncovers more about herself and what she’s been sheltered from and I’m itching for more. There are endless potential love interests dangled in front of her but Warwick comes in like the Kool Aid man every damn time. Oh yeah.
Okay that’s all I’ve got, time to go devour Dead Lands and then wait in agony for Bad Lands.
DNF. I really enjoyed the first book, but I have no idea what's going on with this one. Is this supposed to be reverse harem? Because I feel like it randomly turns into that. There really isn't any chemistry between any of the characters, and yet everyone is so thirsty for each other. The first book had such an interesting plot, so this was just disappointing. Maybe it just wasn't my thing.
“Ó, hogy baszd meg egy talicska apró majom” (Oh, may a wheelbarrow of small monkeys fuck it.)
After every horrible thing that happened in The House Of Death aka Halálház, things only get more intense for Brexley. From being captured by the gorgeous Fae Lord Killian, to FINALLY meeting my favorite tree fairy, her journey is anything but easy.
Every aspect is intensified, the action, violence, political intrigue, and especially the sexual tension.
It shouldn’t be a secret that my favorite trope is enemies to lovers. Yes, the romance is fantastic… but the underrated influence and experiences of the side characters are some of my favorite ways Stacey Marie Brown reveals everything Brexley has known as truths, are completely false. She’s been raised as a lethal Fae killer, because they’re (supposedly) ruining this apocalyptic world. But from her experience in Halálház and everything that happens after, she quickly realizes she’s been part of the oppressive side. Honestly it’s not discussed enough but when a character gets the philosophical “rug pulled out from under them”, and the MC realizes how racist, bigoted, or problematic they’ve been, might be my favorite part of a great enemies to lovers scenario. Then the charming side or romantic characters sweep in to soften the blow.
This is dark, sexy, and violent, sometimes all at the same time. But honestly I’ve never read anything like it. Even rereading this almost a year later, I find myself bookmarking practically every single page and highlighting most paragraphs. I’m already trying to mentally & emotionally prepare for the finale.
Disclaimer: I received an Advance Reader Copy at no cost from the publisher/author. All opinions in my review are my own.
OMG, you guys! I thought that I was ready for this book, but I wasn't. I have been anticipating this book since Savage Lands released and I thought that I was prepared for Stacey Marie Brown's ingenious mindbending plots but I was so wrong. She slayed me with this book. This book will scorch your psyche. When you start this book you will be pulled so far down the rabbit hole that you won't ever want to climb back out again.
In all honesty, there isn't much that I can say in my review that wouldn't be spoilery. But if you are familiar with Brown's writing, then you will be on cloud nine with this book because she delivers the heart-stopping, twisty-turvy plot that you have come to expect from her. And these characters...gah! The way that Brown crafts her characters is nothing short of inspiring and downright genius. The dynamic that she creates with her characters draws the reader in so that the characters consume your every thought. The characters become more than just names on the page. They become your friends, your enemies, your lovers. You aren't just a bystander anymore when you pick up a book by Stacey Marie Brown. The characters become a part of you and you feel everything right along with them. Brown writes her characters so intimately that it is hard to separate your mind from them when you are finished reading. But that is the amazing thing about reading one of her books. The characters stay with you long after you close the book. I really loved all the new characters that are introduced in Wild Lands and I am really excited to see where things go with them.
Again, discussing the character development in this book would be pretty spoilery so I'll just stick with a general observation about Brexley. She definitely had a great character arc in Wild Lands. She is certainly not the same girl in Wild Lands as the girl that went into Halalhaz in Savage Lands. Her experiences in Halalhaz and in the Savage Lands have changed her and, dare I say, awakened her in some ways. She sees things from new perspectives after her experiences and it not only changes her mentality on current events in her world but it changes her very place in that world. Her journey in this book is very inspiring when she finally admits to herself that she won't live by someone else's whims nor will she be controlled by someone else. No matter who it is. There is a lot of self-discovery for her in this book that I can only expect will be even more amazing in the next book.
In short, this book was everything that I expected and more. I am totally blown away each and every time I pick up a book from Stacey Marie Brown. She is my unicorn author. Her ideas are so clever and stimulating and she weaves her stories with a magic that is untouchable. She is a literal goddess with the written word. There is just no one that crafts stories like she can. I am just such a fangirl for this author. Her stories seep into my marrow. They challenge me, warm my heart, make my heart want to break out of my chest, just a gamut of emotions every time I read one of her books. If you enjoyed Savage Lands then you will be over the moon with this book. So many of your questions from book one get answered but you will have just as many new questions upon finishing this book. And you won't even be mad about it because the ride that Stacey takes you on in this book will knock your socks off. If you have not dived into this world yet then you are missing out on an opus of epic proportions. If you are a newbie then I suggest starting with Brown's Darkness series. The Savage Lands series stands on its own and can certainly be read independently but it is set in the same world as her Darkness series, Collector series, and Lightness Saga, and reading them first really compliments and enhances the reading experience of the Savage Lands series. This world that she has created is truly a work of art.
Wild Lands has a cover and it is glorious! Wild Lands releases February 9, 2021, and I cannot wait!
. The FMC is still freaking annoying, and we are led to believe that she’s supposedly this amazing fighter and strategist whereas she always gets her ass kicked and she’s always beaten in combat. She is supposed to be a freaking badass, a warrior who has been trained her entire life to be the crème de la crème and funny enough she needs to be save numerous times. So no, I don’t believe it. She’s cocky, annoying and entitled. She had multiple occasions to prove her worth and she was disappointing every single time.
. The plot is still messy as ever, there’s a lot of info dumping about things I do not care about or aren’t explained in a way that’s interesting.
. The world building is complex but poorly explained, at least it would’ve been nice to have a map because the different settings are confusing as shit.
. On a positive note: I do like the chemistry between the main couple/characters ( even if the back and forth is slightly tiresome)
. It’s not a bad series, but again not worth all the hype around it, and I expected more for this type of premise. Sadly I find this series to be quite underwhelming. I’m willing to give the third book I try, but yeah not more than that. I’m attempting to Dnf less book as possible ( especially some who have potential to be amazing) but some books makes hard to stick to this.
⚜𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄⚜ I'm continuing with my Re-reads of this series until Shadow Lands gets released. And just like the first time I'm still as enamored with this story as i was then. These characters will definitely be the death of me. It 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘, 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘, is gonna be a loong month. ]|I{•---------⋘⋙---------------•⪼⦕࿅⦖⪻•---------------⋘⋙---------•}I|[ I didn't think it was possible to read a book this fast but here I am. I 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄𝐃 this book even more than the first one and i am a 100% sure this series will become one of my favorites. Easily. We had a lot more happening here, more destruction, fights, sexual tension, more lore/world building and more information about Brex and Warwick origins and bond. We also got introduced to new characters and ghosts from the past to add to our little band of misfits. I was a bit sad to not have Tad and Kek in this one, i really loved them and i know they would be great allies since they already have Brex's trust and friendship. But that feeling didn't last long because i had a lot of things distracting me from that loss. Mainly Opie, Bitzy, Scorpion and Ash. In this one i feel like the author was like, i’ll be taking it easy on guys and gently reintroduce you to The Savage Lands but then the last 40% were like a 𝐆𝐎𝐃𝐃𝐀𝐌𝐍 𝐕𝐎𝐋𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐈𝐂 𝐄𝐑𝐔𝐏𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 of chaos and information reveal. One explosion after the other until the last word. Especially that shower scene. Jesus 𝐅#𝐂𝐊. Now the next paragraph of this review will be more of a rant than anything else. ]|I{•---------⋘⋙---------------•⪼⦕࿅⦖⪻•---------------⋘⋙---------•}I|[ Now i'm not hating on Caden so she can be with Warwick (even tho we all know they are end game) but because of who she turns to around him and that's 𝐍𝐎𝐓 𝐄𝐑 Plus he's a 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐔𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐆𝐮𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐀**𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐞. So i don't mind only having the banter, animosity and the undeniable raw passion between her and Farkas at the moment. “I jerked back as if he punched me, inhaling sharply. My attention darted down to Caden, the boy I was supposedly so in love with, and yet now that I had him, I barely even noticed him. The moment Warwick showed up, I became aggressive. Fierce. Confident. Carnal. All things I hadn’t ever been with Caden before. I was no longer the girl who sat up here with him last spring, timid and insecure, desperately waiting for him to give me a scrap of notice. Allowing him to tell me he loved me too much to be with me. What bullshit was that?”
And I'm glad the author didn't make this into a love triangle, because I legit would have died if that happened. I'm not a fan of that trope and usually avoid it like the plague but in this series with that twiddlefu#k i wouldn't have been able to handle it. So I'm very, very, very extra happy we didn't go there and that when the moment came, 𝐒𝐇𝐄 𝐂𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐄 𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅 and didn't let her feelings and nostalgia for him muddle her judgment.
]|I{•---------⋘⋙---------------•⪼⦕࿅⦖⪻•---------------⋘⋙---------•}I|[ Now if you thought the intensity of Warwick and Brex relationship in the first book was the highest than this book just 𝐎𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 the meter of hotness. Their relationship evolved a little more and I like the way the author is handling this slow burn romance. I honestly prefer it this way. Let them build up a kind of alliance and friendship first. With of course a tone of sexy moments, i mean come on, there are no saints here. Anyway everything about them feels natural and powerful i just want to immerse myself in this world to experience those feelings with them.
“Why?” My focus went on him. “I don’t know that either… I just know from the moment you walked into the mess hall that morning in Halálház, you’ve screwed everything up. Like a fucking succubus… pulling all my attention, demanding it, moving me around you like a planet.” [...] He sucked in, and I knew he felt me trace the deep indention as if my hands were actually there. “Kovacs,” he said between gritted teeth. “What?” I challenged him, staring right into his eyes as he felt my hand slip inside his jeans, grazing the tip of him. “Fuck.” He choked, his body naturally curling into me, seeking more, desiring my touch. [...] Air puffed out of my lungs, matching his as I moved up and down his shaft. He growled and pushed his hips into me, his grip on my arms tightening. His eyes blazed, meeting mine, breathing heavily out of his nose. In this moment, he was not some myth or cruel beast. We were equal. And I could drop him to his knees as easily as he could me. Without actually touching him.”
]|I{•---------⋘⋙---------------•⪼⦕࿅⦖⪻•---------------⋘⋙---------•}I|[ Now that we got out of the way, i want my own morning routine to include a Brownie and an Imp waking me up. I want my own Opie and Bitzy and be a clan of three. And I'm totally heartbroken it will never happen. I legit feel robbed of the experience.
“Chirp! Chirp! Chirp!” Opie’s mouth fell open. “I don’t think he could reach his own ass and do that.” Opie looked down at himself, curving as if he was trying to see if what she said was possible. “I mean, if he could, I don’t think he’d be so cantankerous all the time.” My hand came to my face, a chuckle springing out. My life was so confusing right now. I felt so deeply for these two creatures, who I should have despised and possibly tried to kill by the standards of my own people. Even Bitzy. Yet, they helped me make it through Halálház. My body had been broken there, and they kept my mind together, making me laugh or comforting me, getting me through some horrendous moments. They saved me from myself, became part of me, and I knew in my soul I would protect them with everything I had.”
I absolutely love how she has mingled in all these separate worlds and I’ve fallen in love with all them. I like how she keeps switching the plot and changing up everyone the main character is surrounded by. It keeps reading this series fresh and I’m excited to read book 3,4&5.
Our heroine is always getting Caught, while our hero rides in a motorcycle to her rescue blasting bombs everytime ! Oh ! My desi heart ! ️
Finally ! This year's fav. Series for sure ... hopefully. Its been sometime since I need a break from reading a story, to just walk around and jump and get all the energy trapped in my chest out. Silently screaming !
Highlights : • Soon I would be unable to recall the girl I had been
•“A single drop of water can be the one that breaks the dam.”
•“You look at us like we are the monsters when it’s been you humans the whole time.”
•But the ploy he used on me as a girl no longer worked on the woman before him now.
•Humans disliked difference. If there was something unusual about you, something that did not meet the norm, you were treated with suspicion. Mistrusted.
•“I love you, but I love myself too.
•“We have enough enemies we’re fighting out there,” Andris barked, motioning beyond us. “We don’t need it in here too.”
•Earth is a magical creation; everything depends on everything else to survive. One thing gets removed, and it causes a ripple effect for everything else.
•A promise was a bond in the fae world. They didn’t throw them around or break them as humans often did.
tady mám MOC pocitů a čekala jsem několik dní, než k Nezkrotné říši něco sepíšu, protože bez odstupu bych jí narvala 1* a čau pipi
I can't even with this Author, she blows me away with her words and she is an out of this world Author. Her craft is so well rounded and her story telling is mind blowing.
Wild Lands picks up where we were left in AWWW of Savage Lands and that epic conclusion (if you want to call it that) of book 1. Wild Lands digs deeper into the FAE world and the Mixing with the humans. The suspense and excitement of this book had me on edge and I couldn't read fast enough. The words flew off the pages as I was immersed in the story and consumed by every word until the end. I was holding my breathe, screaming at the pages and on pins and needles on how this story would go. When things were happening and moving, something else would throw you for a loop. A BIG twist that I did not see coming. This world is not like any I have ever read and I seriously can't wait to devour Dead Lands, Book #3.
The way the Author can make NOT touching someone feel like you yourself are on fire with words and energy in the air is the most magical part of this series for me. The phantom touches between the two main characters, it is something else let me tell you, shewww... HOTTTT. The chemistry is off the freaking charts SIZZLING! Just wait y'all, you are going to love this book even more.
The deeper you dive into this series the better it gets. I hope you enjoyed this one as much as I did, just EPIC OUT OF THIS WORLD EXPERIENCE!
I really need Brexley to start paying more attention to her surroundings. Homegirl walks around alone with the confidence of having Liam Neeson for a father and is always completely surprised when she’s kidnapped yet again.
Still had a great time reading it. The tension. 😏 Warwick, amiright?
Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal, New Adult, Dystopia Triggers: violence, death, torture Tropes: enemies to lovers, revolution, touch her and you die, fae vs humans Series: Savage Lands #2 Cliffhanger: yes Spice: 2/5 🌶 Rating: 5/5 ⭐
“What should I do with you, Ms. Kovacs?” “Is this a multiple choice or fill in?” I countered. “Because I vote you set me free.”
Can this series get any better? I'm in love and still very much overwhelmed.

- Killian showing her the experiment - Opie and Bitsy being there
“Do you enjoy being in a cell so much you had to find another?” Opie sighed. “I mean, I’ve heard a lot of women are into being chained up, especially by Lord Killian, but this seems a bit excessive.”
- Killian kissing Brex - Warwick phantom juju replacing Killian during the kiss - still not sure what's going on here - Zander showing up - Zander helping Brex escape, again - Killian punishing Nyx - Warwick taking Brex home, to Caden

“No, Caden.” I pulled away. “I love you, but I love myself too. I deserve better than that. I’ve been through too much shit not to be someone’s first choice.” “You are my first choice.” “The woman in there is your first choice.” “I don’t get to fucking choose!” “Yes, you do!” I shouted back. “I want a love where nothing can keep us apart.”
- Brex discovering things in Istvan's study - Finding out Istvan's plan for her - Warwick showing up to help Brex escape HDF - Phantom hands; I can't say anything but PHANTOM HANDS for both of them!!!?! - Rose and Brex reunion - Brex inviting Opie and Bitzy to be in her clan - Warwick meeting Opie and Bitzy
Chhhiiirrrppp. “I second that… dammmnnn.” Opie’s voice tugged my attention back to the pillow. Both sat with their mouths open, staring at Warwick, blinking as if they were in a trance. Chirp. “Yeah…” Opie sighed. “He is dreamy.”
- Finding uncle Andris, as head of the Budapest Resistance - Lynx (Ling) being the fae Andris is in love with - Zander being part of Andris' resistance - Brexley meeting Birdie - Meeting Maddox, Scorpion, Wesley and Zuz - Phantom Warwick talking to Brex
“This is what you call me being free of you? Miss me already, princess?” My body reacted instantly to his voice, pissing me off. Fuck. I lifted my head to see Warwick sitting on the top of the toilet, his lips twisted with arrogance. “No, you just come to mind when I think of shit.” I folded my arms.
- Scorpion and Brex having the same ghost connection - HDF attacking - Birdie coming to fight with Brex - Birdie meeting Warwick
“He’s real? The actual legend is standing in front of me? The guy who came back to life? And you knew and didn’t tell me?” She punched my arm. “Ow.” I rubbed my shoulder. “That’s for not telling me you were sleeping with a myth. Is the sex astronomical? Mythical status?” “Yes,” he grunted. “No,” I responded.
- Ash healing Brex - Brex hearing the discussion between Ash and Warwick - The Book showing Brex the night the wall fell - Ash, Warwick, Beex, Opie and Bitzy under one roof
“I think I prefer the imp high.” Ash headed over to Warwick, pouring himself a drink. “Since when does my life consist of arguing with an imp and needing to hide my vacuum from a brownie?”
- Finding out Brex was the one to bring Warwick back to life - Warwick cleaning Brex in the shower while his shadow self spiced things up - The Book showing Brex how her connection to Scorpion has happened - Being kidnapped by her real uncle, Mykel, who runs the big Prague Resistance - Kek working for Mykel
almost almost 5 stars!! I just need warwick to stop being such an asshole god their sexual tension is out of this world!!! and so many "plot twists" is getng a little repetitive but im really really liking it!! okay i need more ash i like him and these connections brexley has with warwick and scorpion are so damn deep and i need to know what the hell why?? but so so fun and intriguing and brexley is a badass amazing woman!! i am truly invested in this series!!!
A lot of back and forth between Brexley and Warwick.
Brexley keeps mentioning literally every time something happens how she survived the prison and nothing is a match for her now.
Also there were some weird possible "cheating" scenes where Warwick was with OW and Brexley is attracted to every male in this book. Warwick is with not one but four women. And Brexley is attracted to this? Ugh, can I gag? I guess it's only fair since Brexley is attracted to every man in this book. (minus a star for this)
She is so alluring no one can resist her apparently.
The back and forth, her irresistibleness and her little tough girl speeches got a little old. This was good and I can't wait for book 3. (I had to reread book 1, to fully appreciate this one). The lack of clarity was why I didn't give this 4 stars. I don't understand what is uniting the humans and fae and it isn't really discussed. Not sure what all these resistances are fighting for. I mean if they're so great and important, I think people would know their agenda.
****STOP READING HERE IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE WHOLE PLOT OF THIS BOOK My summary so I don't forget and have to reread book 2:
Brexley survives and escapes from the prison in the previous book with the help of Warwick. But Warwick soons trades her for someone (possibly his child? brother? nephew? sister? mother? revealed at the end of the book). She is kept at Killian's where she discovers that the pills she stole will turn humans into mindless soldiers and possibly taken from fae essence? Then she is returned to HDF, where she realizes she is a changed woman and can't go back. Caden is engaged to some Ukranian after her engagement flopped. She is discovered? (not really sure what exactly she's being accused off aside from being super sketchy) and leaves after a stand off between her and her former colleagues/Caden's father. Brexley is again rescued by Warwick. They have some sort of connection. She meets up with some sort of resistance, led by her father's family friend. There she meets Scorpion who she has some sort of connection with (him and all the men in this book, but he's a little more special). Her general adoptive daddy sends an assassin after her, the whole resistance gets caught (this girl is bad luck for anyone around her). She is again rescued by Warwick, they run away together. Brexley is severely injured they go to his friend Ash, he takes care of her. They discover a book (still not clear on this), which entrances her, she relives the night Warwick dies and somehow brings him back to life. Warwick leaves to be with his family?, girl touches the book again and brings Scorpion back to life. She decides to go for a walk. Gets caught by another resistance and communicates with Warwick where she sees him with his family (still not really understanding what these resistances are fighting for-it's implied by no clear moral agenda). Turns out this resistance is being led by her uncle who is alive. It ends there.
