Princess Raina’s beloved country is in trouble, and the only way for her to save it is to marry a Prince with coin to spare. Unfortunately, she’s already in love with her bodyguard Gavin…
Raina
At the age of twenty-one, I am to be introduced to society, complete with a royal ball, where I am intended to find a suitable prince.
Mostly, this sounds like fun, until I find out the ball is a ruse. My suitors are under scrutiny for other reasons, and I’m bait.
Apparently, our wealth has been stolen. Our country is practically destitute. It’s my duty to marry us out of the hole, while my bodyguard is supposed to ferret out the thief who has put us here.
Everyone has a secret, and mine is at least as scandalous as most.
I'm in love with my bodyguard. I wonder what he's hiding behind those dark blue eyes, and I'll do whatever it takes to find out.
Gavin
When I was hired to guard the princess, I thought it would be an easy job.
Boy, was I wrong.
Her safety is my mission, but Raina’s no delicate flower, and she doesn’t think she needs my protection.
She’s smart and beautiful with a naughty streak that makes me want to claim her for myself. However, if I give in to her charms, I could find myself on the wrong side of a firing squad.
Besides, I’m a hard man who has seen it all, and done unspeakable things in the service of my country. She deserves better, so I focus on tracking the person who has stolen her fortune.
I pray I can find the money. Because it I do, the princess won’t have to marry for money.
❤️Valentine’s Day ❤️week and here I am trying to read at least a couple of romances to keep myself happy and of course I am smiling like the cat that ate the canary 😻
A kickass heroine- check A drool worthy hero – check Forbidden romance- check Happily, ever-after- check What more can I ask for 🤷♀ 😆got it—Royal palaces and princess to the mix- the perfect cherry on the top. 😋
Gavin is a royal guard but for the past 6 months his life has been a hell, serving as the personal body guard to the princess which should have been a dream job, right? Well, wrong, Raina is no feeble damsel. With a stubborn mind, headstrong attitude and passionate nature, Gavin has a tough job at his hands, the major task, convincing himself that Raina is a princess and thus off-limits. Raina of course has her own ideas, instead of being served on a platter to any Tom, Dick and Harry, she wants to catch the crook that brought her country to financial ruin and thus fixed her future for her. Forced into a situation where marriage is the only way out, she convinces Gavin to find the culprit and replenish the coffers leaving her free to her own wishes. En route, Gavin and Raina get stuck in a snow storm and boundaries are crossed and its only love that shines thru as both of them gets snug inside a cottage cut off from the outside world.
The writing is effortless, as both Gavin and Raina make an endearing pair, the banter between them crackling with sexual tension and forbidden love. There is also an unexpected twist to the story that elevates it to a different level from the usual run of the mill romances. With some steamy love scenes and passionate love, Royal Inheritance by Mckenna James makes it a perfect royal Valentine read 💘 💝 ❣️
In the mood for an angsty forbidden romance? Like heroines that are sassy and rebellious? How about a loyal and broody hero? If you said yes to any of these, this royal romance between a young princess and her older bodyguard will be right up your alley.
Princess Raina is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Her county is bankrupt and she's their best commodity. Her comeout party has turned into a husband hunting event, all while she tries to weed out the one suitor who might actually be out to take not only her hand in marriage but also her (secretly) destute country.
Raina isn't one to take commands lying down and decides that rather than meekly walk down the aisle and commit to a loveless marriage, she'll unmask the real villain and restore the country's financial before she has to sacrifice herself. And who better to help her than the man she actually cares about?
Gavin has always put his duty to crown and country first. But when he agrees to help Raina, he lets his heart lead instead. No way can anything ever happen but that line never to be crossed begins to blur more and more with every minute he spends with her. Will they be able to catch the bady guy and get their happy ending? Or will the princess walk off into the sunset alone?
🖤 ~ My Thoughts ~ 🖤 Loved the story, I'm a sucker for royal romances and this one was good. The middle slowed down a bit with the back and forth and angst between both MCs but the ending was fast paced and definitley ends with an OTT happily ever after!
Heat Level: 4/5
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
ARC review I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. Princess raina parents need her to marry so save the kingdom since someone stole it so her and he bodyguard Gavin go to find what happened to it . Awesome story
This is a good story about finding love and keeping it. Princess Raina is trying to saving her troubling country and to do that she must marry a prince with lots of money. She wants to marry for love but country comes first. She has fallen in love with her bodyguard Gavin and wants to know what it would feel like to be in his arms just once before she has to give him up for her country. Will Raina be able to marry someone else with her heart belonging to someone else? Will Gavin accept that he will never be able to marry her? This story is filled with love, a little suspense, and lasting love to keep you interested. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. This is a first for me from this author and I will be reading/listening to more soon.
An extremely sweet well written royalty romance. This engaging storyline has two people from different backgrounds that find them unable to be together, fighting the undeniable chemistry with intense heat and push and pull between them. I was addicted to the drama, danger, twists and turns, embezzlement, murder, and as these two try to uncover and fight their love and attraction. Can they ever have a HEA. I voluntarily read and reviewed this incredible ARC.
The princess was bad in a good way. She had fallen for her bodyguard and did not want to be without him. Her bodyguard felt the same way about her. Her parents walking in on them was a bit much. Ok story.
Gavin the bodyguard tortured by stubborn, and headstrong princess Raina. Challenged to keep her protected and safe, he failed with his own heart. i liked this steamy, suspenseful romance.
Princess Raina has just been introduced to society so she can find a rich husband. Its of great importance that she does in order to save he country. There's just one problem she is currently in love with her bodyguard. Gavin is not just protecting Raina but looking for the person that stole her money. When he has them tracked down they go after them however they end up in an accident that has them stranded in a cabin. Where Gavin can hold back any longer and they give into temptation. Will they get her money back? Can they be together?
This is an amazing story that will draw you in from the first chapter. The chemistry between them is off the charts hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

She needs to make a good match to save her country
Royal Inheritance is a lovely story about Raina and Gavin. She is a Princess and he is her bodyguard. I will give you one guess as to what happens and who ends up with who in this story. But there is a bit more to it than when you add in the fact that someone stole her country's money and her parents are forcing her to find a rich Prince to marry in order to save the country. Gavin in the meantime has been trying to track down the culprit and once he does you will not believe what happens. So who will Raina end up with in the end............a wealthy Prince or her hunky hero Gavin? You will just have to read Royal Inheritance to find out, but be assured that it does end with a HEA.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
I highly recommend Royal Inheritance by McKenna James which is the story of Princess Raina, who has to find a wealthy prince to marry to financially save her country after it is found the royal treasury has been embezzled by the country’s financial advisor (who was murdered), and Gavin, her bodyguard who is unsuitable for the throne even though she loves him and he loves her. This book has drama, suspense, unexpected twists, and sizzling romance as Gavin and Raina search for the murderer and embezzler.

Gavin, Raina’s bodyguard, tries to resist his attraction for her but eventually succumbs. Raina has fallen in love with her bodyguard but has to marry a Prince with money to save the country. She is a “handful” for her parents and Gavin. Raina hopes Gavin can find out who has the money stolen from their country so she won’t have to be in an arranged marriage.
There are some unexpected twists that se to crop up out of nowhere. They made the story more interesting but felt like they weren’t given the importance they could have had.
This is the first book I have read written by McKenna James, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a fast paced, easy read, with many lighthearted and heated moments throughout.
Raina was born to be the next Queen of her kingdom, but something is wrong. Money has been embezzled and now Raina must marry a wealthy prince in order to keep her crown. There's a problem though, Raina is secretly in love with her bodyguard Gavin, a man who also has feelings for the princess. Gavin is unable to act upon these feelings because of the position he holds in the royal household, plus he's a commoner.
Together Raina and Gavin set out to find the mystery man behind the embezzlement. As they do their relationship changes and feelings are brought out into the open. I really enjoyed the friendship/relationship between Raina and Gavin. Their banter was really quite funny at times. When McKenna turned up the heat ... it really got quite warm.
Raina was such a great character, a woman who had lead a sheltered life, but she had a strength and a spirit about her that made you like her. Gavin ... well he was just perfect, he had looks, a great personality and skills that would melt any woman's heart. These two were like fire and ice though, but they complimented each other perfectly.
A great read with plenty of mystery, intrigue, drama, adventure and two people who just wanted what they knew they could not have. Thoroughly enjoyable story.
Rated this for myself. Not my kind of book but wanted to have a personal record for myself so I don’t download it again. No discouragement to anyone on this one. It’s personal preference.
Book itself was not bad. Raina is the princess who needs to get married to a prince in order to save her parents from going down & under w/no mines. But Raina is in love w/her bodyguard Gavin.
OH MY SUPER HOT HELL! I'm in love with the drool worthy Gavin lock stock & barrel. Princess Raina has to be introduced to high society so she can pick out a prince to marry, but so far, none of them do it her. It's imperative that she find one with money to save her country which is in big trouble, pinning all it's hopes on her marriage. It becomes very complicated since she's in love with her bodyguard, Gavin, who is completely unsuitable for a Princess, but they have some very potent chemistry. So, you already know that the push & pull will be great, but at the same time, very frustrating. Royal Inheritance was a great story which gripped me from the very beginning, making it impossible to put down until I knew how it pans out, especially when it ticked all my boxes. See, there's drama (royalty you know), intense heat, and had some twists. I've fallen for McKenna James writing style, and this story is my favorite to date. I want to end with stating for the record, everyone should want to find out how it all pans out, so one click immediately, as I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Superbly written! A fast pace read with an interesting story line that is emotionally deep, well developed, passionate, and consistent. Likeable, strong, and well developed characters; the chemistry between them is amazingly hot. The twists, suspense, drama, mystery, and embezzlement make this book an on the edge of your seat read and one not to miss. This is a must read!

Never read this duo before, but I was intrigued by the potential behind the blurb. Raina and Gavin are a fun pairing.
Raina is headstrong and determined to figure out the mystery plaguing her country concerning missing money before she takes over the kingdom, while also fighting to get her protecter Gavin to see her as more than a job.
Gavin is an intelligent, straight shooter of a man who is tasked with the duty to protect the Princess and can only admire from afar. He’s is a very easy to love character with a penchant for dirty words and getting hot between the sheets.
The pair work well together as they try to solve the problem that set them off on a journey to save the legacy of Raina’s people, while tempting fate and falling deeper. Definitely some good twists and interesting secrets revealed.
Overall a good story, would recommend to someone who is a fan of royal themed stories and a multitude of obstacles that keep the characters and reader on their toes.
Royal Inheritance was a fantastic read. I loved the details in this story and absolutely loved these characters.
Princess Raina’s beloved country is in financial crisis and her parents are forcing her to marry a prince that is wealthy to save their country. Her heart already belongs to another though in the form of Gavin. She knows she cannot be with him though as he doesn't hold a title and he is her body guard.
This is a book I highly suggest picking up, it will draw you in and keep you glued the entire time!
An enjoyable, well written story. The characters are interesting and have chemistry and the story line pulls you in. Warning, you may find this book extremely hard to put down once you start reading.

Loved the storyline, love Raina and Gavin together! I’m so happy the King let them be together, I was surprised at the Queen situation but definitely understood
4.35 stars This is the first book I have read by the author and it is an enjoyable one, especially if you like stories surrounding a royal family and the ensuing chaos that surrounds it. Raina is a princess who is being forced to step into her role to do what is best for her country. She is tasked with finding an acceptable suitor who has enough wealth to support her and the kingdom that she is to rule over. Gavin is the royal bodyguard who has attracted the eye of the princess but he is in no position to lay claim to her or throw his hand in the ring to win her hand in marriage. What a dilemma? Which way will Raina choose? Will she follow her heart to the man she loves or will she do what is expected of her? I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book.
Princess Raina must find a rich prince to marry - quickly - in order to save her country from bankruptcy. Money has been stolen from their coffers, and there seems no other way. But she is in love with her bodyguard - she really only wants Gavin - and he is in love with her, but they both know that she must do her duty. When Gavin saves Raina's life - not once, but twice, and they find out the truth - and her mother's secret, will anything change? Will Raina have the chance of happiness that eluded her mother? Loved this story!
