A new member joins the party! Izutsumi, a cat ninja and shockingly picky eater - how long will she last with Laois and crew as they continue eating their way through the dungeon to find Falin!?
Delicious in Dungeon, also known as Dungeon Meshi, is a manga series that follows a group of adventurers as they explore a dungeon and cook the monsters they encounter.
The party is joined by a new member, Izutsumi, who was previously in Shuro's party. The group is deep underground, in areas barely explored before, and they can't afford to have anyone acting up and risking everyone's lives. So Izutsumi will have to learn how to play nice and eat monsters, all the while the rest of the party spills old secrets and those on the surface begin to plan subjugating the dungeon once and for all.
Overall, Delicious in Dungeon is a unique and entertaining manga series that combines dungeon-crawling adventure with cooking. The characters are well-developed, and the world-building is excellent. The art style is also fantastic, and the monsters look both terrifying and delicious. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy, comedy, and cooking.
The secret origin of Senshi is revealed in the second half, giving a strong finish after a slower start that involved outside politics and an idyllic village filled with bored and boring immortals.
I am still completely caught up in this series. I love the glimpse of Senshi's past revealed in this volume, and the lore of the dungeon that is still being revealed. There was a line in here about how the dungeon leaves you alone if you don't ask much of it, but that if you have strong desires it throws even more obstacles into your way. Our heroes have such big goals right now, but they're marching ahead regardless!
I already was completely in love with this series before it added a half wild catgirl to the main group, but here I am enjoying it even more with every volume <3
An improvement over the preceding few volumes due to a return to basics - cookery and high adventure. A well constructed backstory takes up the bulk of the tale while also setting up future installments.
3.5 out of 5 stars This was a little slower than other volumes. Not really a bad thing because it meant we got some much needed backstory for my favourite character and I ate that s*** up! I wasn't a huge fan of how heavily this focused on our new character rather than on the group as a whole but I do think some interesting stuff happened that means the plot can really take large steps in the next volume or two. Excited as always to continue.
(4,3 of 5 for this delicious manga parody) I like food, I love to cook and I had my share of tabletop RPG back in days. And this series combines it in a light humorous way. It's super fun, very interesting and very clever. I'm always fascinated by the author's creativity, the new recipes, ingredients and ways to cook. This time there is an extra layer in the form of Senshi background story, which is great. This is "must-read" for all food & fantasy enthusiasts.
Endlich mehr Hintergrundgeschichte zum Dungeon, dem wahnsinnigen Magier und zu Senshi! ♥️ Die zweite Abenteurergruppe geht mir aber immer noch heftigst auf die Nerven.
The story moves forward a few leaps as world building takes place and plot is laid down. Senshi is laid bare as we witness his heartbreaking origins in one of the strongest chapters yet. The art is, as always perfect, beautiful and full of charm.
This volume was very very good! I love having a new member in the team, it add a nice new dynamic. I really appreciated learning more about Senshi's past too, it's wild that this happens so deep in the series to be honest. Kudos to the author for making it feel perfectly logical for it to happen only now. On to the next volume now **
This volume had a lot of really interesting back story about the dungeon and Senshi.
Content notes: violence, light swearing, a minotaur that is farmed for milk that has its udder in the breast area so it appears more like human breasts.
Most of the time, Dungeon Meshi tends to be goofy and utterly ridiculous, with unexpectedly hilarious situations. However, it also delivers some heart touching moments while exploring its characters, Senshi in this instance.
