A wonderfully enjoyable collection of eclectic and varied takes on forbidden love, all with the theme of snow as an catalyst. Some of the best Wattpad authors, variety of genres and interpretations that you will enjoy each and every one.
I was provided with a free e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A solid read with a wide variety of stories, genres, and characters; this anthology has something for everyone.
As is the case for most anthologies, some stories are better than others. However, the great thing about anthologies is that you don't have to read every single story. For example, I would start a story, realize I wasn't enjoying it and then move on to the next one. There were a few stories in this collection that I ended up skipping. The stories that I did end up reading were very enjoyable. The authors do an excellent job of grabbing your attention quickly and keeping it.
This collection revolves around the themes of snow and forbidden love, hence the title of this book. The authors all have their own unique way of telling their story. This allows for the reader to experience a variety of characters and genres. Some genres include romance, mystery, and historical fiction. There is definitely something for everyone.
I must add that each story has its own rating (between G and rated R) based on the U.S. rating system. I was provided with a list of the stories as well as their ratings which I will add below.

I was provided a copy of this book for an honest review. All bar two stories in this anthology were excellent. I do enjoy Shaun Allan's work, after being introduced to him on another writer's blog a few years ago during his book tour. As I understand it, this cadre of writers met on Wattpad, and if the anthology is any indication of the quality of their writing, then this is an extremely talented group of writers and should be watched. I enjoyed Wings by Shaun Allan most of all- it was surprisingly lyrical, with a strong theme and message. Megan, a jealous, paranoid woman, gifted with an opportunity, a power. Does she use it for good or ill? Two stories fell flat for me, but that's still a great rate for reading. Though I was provided a free copy, I have also pre-ordered and will be looking out for these guys in the future!
It was a privilege being a part of this anthology. I was so impressed by the talent and diversity of these writers! These stories are definitely worth taking a look at.
I have lately begun to rediscover my love of the short story, whiling my Sunday afternoons away on my back porch, reading the many wonderful anthologies that are beginning to grace the digital shelves at Amazon. Reading short stories allows me to sample an author’s work without investing in a longer book by an author whose work is unknown to me. Also, it allows me to read work written by authors whose work I know and love. This week, I am talking about an anthology of tales written by Wattpad Stars. These authors have some of the highest rated works on Wattpad, with millions of fans all over the world.
But first THE BLURB: One cabin. Sixteen stories of forbidden love.

MY REVIEW: All the stories in this volume are excellent, well-written, and in some cases, deeply thought provoking. At no time did I feel compelled to skip forward. Several stories, however, stood out above the others, in my opinion.
The first that struck a chord in me was "Red Snow," by Debra Goelz. This is a true fairy tale, harsh, violent, magical, and mysterious. Children are disappearing in the forest, for reasons both frightening and sinister. I wanted to know more about Daphne, and why she was tied to the forest as she was. Eugene, the man who’d been changed to a snake, was really intriguing also. Goelz presents the situation, doling out information in just the right bits so that when the final denouement comes, it is both in keeping with the tone of the tale and satisfying.
The second story that resonated and left me thinking was "Faun," by Gavin Hetherington. "Faun" is another fairy tale, this one featuring a boy of sixteen, who is on a Christmas vacation in a cabin the woods with his family. Freddie is at odds with them over something that fundamental to him but which deeply offends his father and has been ostracized. After a quarrel at dinner, he runs away into a blizzard, finding his way to a nearby village. What he finds in the village is both moving and heartwarming.
The third story that I want to talk about is "Wings," by one of my favorite authors, Shaun Allan. The fact that his work was featured in this anthology was why I purchased it in the first place. Wings is a journey into despair and the need to be loved. Megan has been given a second chance, and opportunity to bring love into people’s lives and change the world. But her own emotional pain is too much, and she begins to find satisfaction in bringing misery to the world. Shaun Allan has a knack for getting deep into the dark corners of the human psyche, which is why this tale resonates with me and why I seek out his work. What begins as a quest for personal revenge soon takes a form Megan is completely unprepared for, threatening the world she knows, and deep inside still loves. Allan illustrates the growing darkness of Megan’s soul and a rising sense of doom with a deft hand, illuminating the darker places in our own souls, the places we would prefer not to look.
I enjoyed this anthology from start to finish and highly recommend it. SNOW, Stories of Forbidden Love, is available from Amazon for your Kindle.
Wings by Shaun Allan is desolate, beautiful, and achingly haunting. Allan manages to bring a new idea to the table when most are thinking romance or survivalist stories that come with the seclusion of a cabin in the woods anthology.
While the theme for this anthology is forbidden love, Shaun manages to twist this concept by adding a supernatural element and a dilemma for a character that is positively wrought with bad decisions when it comes to love.
As always, Allan's way with words creeps up on you and gets under your skin. The destination of the story almost becomes a background to the way he puts pen to paper. Seriously, I could read his descriptives for ever.
So, if you are looking for something a little different, as always, I am suggesting to check out Shaun Allan's work. However, I also implore readers to dive right back in after reading his work and check out some of the other stories in the Snow Anthology.
Over all, I am giving Wings by Shaun Allan, 5 out of 5 stars and can't wait to read the rest of the Snow Anthology!
Interesting anthology of 16 short stories. A great book to curl up with a winter's day. I liked Sober because it had quality writing, a depth to the story and strong characters. Tobacco and Pine was intriguing - I just wanted more. There were a couple of stories that didn't appeal or flow quite to well. Overall it was great value.
It's a breathtaking love story with a thrilling plot that messed up with my head and feelings, not being sure of whom to trust. Claudia is a young writer with a sad story who went back to her family's cabin trying to get rid of her writer's block. She met handsome and mysterious Colton and immediately began a friendship that led them into a romantic affair. Not all was hearts and flowers, Colton's terrible past will get in the way and it will keep you on your toes. Magnificent work of the writer keeping the reader hooked on the story! I totally recommend it and give it 5 stars! It's a gripping story that you won't be able to put down.
With this collection you have sixteen different novellas and short stories each one with it's own twist on forbidden romance in a snowy setting. I recommend this collection to anyone who loves a unique telling of different love stories. It's nice to dive into a quick novella and with this amazing lineup of authors-- you won't be disappointed.
It's the first time I'm reviewing an anthology so I wasn't sure how to approach this review.
I was going to share with you what I think of SNOW as a whole, and then tell you half a dozen sentences about each individual story, but with sixteen stories plus what I think of the anthology, this review would've turned out quite long and you know I try to keep them short and to the point.
So, in the end, I'm just going to talk about the general impression I got from SNOW - Stories of Forbidden Love.
I can understand why so many of these authors are part of the Wattpad Stars program and why they have such a big following.
While I read, I encountered a lot of diverse writing styles, setting in which the stories took place (who knew you could do so many things with a cabin?), topics and moods, and each of them had its charm. At times I thought "Well, this piece is good for when you want something casual and interesting, but not too engaging" and at times I was so captivated that I kept reading even though I should've been sleeping (yes, I know it's an unhealthy habit of mine to go into bed with a good book and that I should really stop that); at times I knew where a story was heading, at times I had no clue, and at times it turned out I thought I knew, but nope, the author took the story in a completely different direction.
This presented a little bit of a challenge for me when it come to writing this review.
If this was a collection of stories of just one author, I'd probably say pretty much the same about each piece and tell you which I liked most and least.
With such diversity in SNOW it's difficult to do that.
If you want slow pace, you'll find it; if you want fast pace, you'll find it.
If you don't want to risk getting your feelings hurt by reading a story that you know won't have a happy ending: there are stories in which you know from the start that the characters will end up together; if you want to be surprised - well, I already mentioned that some stories surprised me, so you'll get that too.
There are stories that lean more towards Contemporary Romance, there are others that, romantic elements and all, are more about suspense, or the development of the main character as an individual and not just a partner in a relationship.
There's a story for pretty much any mood you could be looking for.
I think the best way to describe starting to read a story from the SNOW anthology would be to compare it to eating Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans - you take a leap of faith and you never know what you'd get. The only difference is that none of these stories will leave a bad taste in your mouth.
I'd recommend SNOW - Stories of Forbidden Love to the huge following of these amazing authors.
Secondly, with so many different writing styles, settings and characters, I'd say "Go for it!" to everyone who enjoys reading in the Romance genre.
I was given the Snow anthology to give an honest review back and I am only going to touch base on Rachel Meinke's story Chasing Jupiter but can I just say; wow!
This story was honestly not what I was expecting. I walked in with the idea that this was a romantic story but was pleasantly surprised that instead of a romance, this story focuses on some serious issues all of us may have gone through with a hint of humour and some great male/female platonic relationships (which I live for)!
The story revolves around the band Chasing Jupiter and their manager who go on a 2 week retreat after some problems occur and they need to get their image together. The four band mates are hostile towards each other and although it serves some great humour for readers, it's heartbreaking to see. The story carefully crafts a character for each of these boys and the manager, Amy, while touching on issues such as sexuality, insecurities and addiction. Meinke takes these difficult topics and portrays them with delicacy and respect. The writing flows easily and the humour comes so naturally that it's impossible not to be swept into the story.
For the short length of the story, it's truly packs a punch. There are surprises every corner and each character brings something new and something that tugs even more at the heart. The relationships are honest and real and Meinke really shows her best in Chasing Jupiter as an author that can write through a narrow scope and key in on the fundamental parts of friendships and what can make them and break them.
Overall, seeing as Chasing Jupiter has blown away my expectations and left me with a lot to think about and a new love for Felix, Brandon, Andrew, Logan and Amy, the entire Snow anthology looks like it's off to a promising start and I'm excited to read the others.
(Rating is based on the first 8 books of the anthology only. )
I've read the first eight stories and haven't absolutely loved any of them, unfortunately. Only eight more to go!
I have to say I'm thoroughly annoyed with the fact that every story so far has had a character named Claudia in it. I don't have anything against that name but after a while it gets old. I'm not sure who thought this would be a good idea but it's just not working for me.
I was excited when I heard about the SNOW Anthology. Sarah Benson is one of my favorite authors and I have read everything she has written. A short story by Sarah – plus 15 other short stories… count me in!
This anthology has the common theme of snow and cabins in each story. That is where the commonalities ended. SNOW features mystery, suspense, supernatural and paranormal themes, and romance of all sorts.
Sarah Benson’s story, Whiteout, is a mystery. Just a bit about the story… (no spoilers here!) – Alicia wakes up in a remote cabin surrounded by snow, unable to remember why she is there or even who she is. She is also handcuffed to a bed. Alicia’s quest begins - to discover who she is and who had put her in this situation. Is it possible to carve out a future when she still can’t remember the past? This story has tense moments and interesting reveals. I enjoyed the details and warmth of the relationships. Highly recommended - Fun read! Thanks Sarah Benson!
Tobacco & Pine was an enjoyable read. I enjoyed the heroine who is struggling to deal with the death of her father while romance is budding around her. The author, Lucy Rhodes, has an engaging way of describing characters and scenes.
Seeing Him Again by Delilah Mae focused on giving young love a second chance.
And there are 13 more stories on top of those! I enjoyed this anthology and would recommend picking it up today.
Note: I did receive a free e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback.
***I was given and ARC of the Snow anthology to give an honest review for MCRoman's story and have only read her addition to the anthology***
MC's story was easy to read with smooth transitions and solid writing. I've always been a sucker for second chance romances where characters with a difficult past come back together and rekindle the flames. This was a sweet and touching story about characters who'd started out as best friends and wanted to be so much more but circumstances drove them apart for seven years.
(without giving any spoilers) one point of concern is I would've liked more conflict so that both characters would have had to work harder to get together on the page. As it stood, it was resolved too quickly and the black moment didn't have the impact I was hoping for. I also struggled with suspending disbelief and developing smexy feels while in the cabin as a result of heroine recovering from recent surgery which, anyone who's been under the knife can attest to it being a major libido killer.
But neither of those concerns overly inhibited me from enjoying the story as a whole so I have given MC a solid 4 stars :)
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest feedback, but seeing as how it's currently available on Amazon in e-format for 99 cents, I would have paid for it. This was a fun read; the stories are full of romance and drama, mystery and intrigue. Some of the stories were better written than others; overall the writing quality was amateur level, in my opinion, but good enough that I was still able to appreciate and enjoy it. I found the premises behind the first story by M. C. Roman and the second story by Sarah Benson both particularly interesting. My overall rating for the book as a whole is 3 out of 5 stars.
Individual Ratings Back to Us by M. C. Roman: 5/5 Whiteout by Sarah Benson: 4.75/5 (One of the character's names was not consistent. Otherwise, it would have been 5/5.) Tobacco & Pine by Lucy Rhodes: 3/5 Red Snow by Debra Goelz: 2/5 Fawn by Gavin Hetherington: 4/5 Seeing Him Again by Delilah Mae: 5/5 Of A Feather by Lindsey E. Lippincott: 5/5 Through the Paintings Dimly by J. M. Butler: 2.5/5 Chasing Jupiter by Rachel Meinke: 5/5 Limbo by Noelle N.: 5/5 Crash by Megan DeVos: 5/5 Snowed In by Kelly Anne Blount: 4.5/5 Unexpected Love by Gabriela Cabezut: 5/5 Wings by Shaun Allan: 3.5/5 Sober by R. Diamond: 1/5 True Love's Kiss by Neilani Alejandrino: 1/5
Chasing Jupiter, by Rachel Meinke, was fantastic! The story centers around a band of four guys and their manager, Amy. At the edge of a breakup, Amy steals the guys away into the wilderness with the hope that seclusion will bring them together. Egos, conflict, and secrets run rampant, but Rachel did a great job showing character growth with these four guys. No one is exactly as they seem, and this story is an awesome reminder that just because someone’s battle isn’t visible doesn’t mean they aren’t fighting one.
Fascinating parameters for storytelling and so many variations!
A delightful way to experience different stories and writing styles all in one place. I throughly enjoyed the mystery aspect of White Out and all the unknowns introduced in the story that progress to a satisfying conclusion. Tobacco & Pine has a nostalgic feel and approach. Well-written characters throughout and stories that transport to a variety of settings & adventures.
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book. :)
I voluntarily reviewed a free copy of this book, that being said, I absolutely love, love, love what I have read up to this point in the anthology, especially Kelly Anne Blount's portion!! Kelly Anne is one of the best new author's I have had the privilege to read in a very long time. No matter the genre she always keeps me wanting more. I can't wait to finish the SNOW anthology and I truly can't wait to see what Kelly Anne has in store for us next!!!
The fact that I couldn't choose which story was my favorite is the best thing ever!! From the romantic to the mystery to the sweet and sexy, the authors have written amazing novellas for everyone to enjoy in one book.
I'm so happy to be part of the Snow Anthology and working with other Wattpad authors. The result is so amazing. Sixteen beautiful stories of forbidden love in multiple genres.
This collection has so many different stories by authors with their own unique voices and styles, that readers will definitely find things to fall in love with! You can't go wrong by picking up this book, whether you're a fan of fantasy, humor, or just pure romance.
I particularly enjoyed Back to Us by M.C. Roman for its 'childhood friends reuniting and discovering a spark' storyline, and Debra Goelz's Red Snow for its wonderful blend of fairy tale and fantasy, all the while keeping the story fresh and clever.
If you want to tuck yourself under a soft blanket and snuggle up with a good story, this anthology is for you!
Composed by sixteen Wattpad writers, SNOW is compiled of novelettes/novella-length stories all centering around forbidden love. Some feature cabins while others approach historical/modern settings with blossoming, continuing, or complicated romance. Spanning a multitude of sub-genres, you are sure to find a story that piques your interest!
I found myself stumbling upon an opportunity to receive an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this anthology for an honest review and could not refuse! Having previously read a handful of some of these author's works before, I knew I was in for a treat! I was giddy from the amazing prose, beautiful stories, and wishing there was more once hitting the end! With personal writing flair contributed to each story, I loved the clip introduction into authors I'd never read from.
For overall I give SNOW a 3.5/5 stars for overall comprehension, writing mechanics (literary elements/devices usage), and enjoyment.
I RECEIVED AN ARC COPY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.I've always loved Kelly Anne Blount's books. When I got the chance to get an early ARC copy I almost screamed (Okay, I did. Don't judge me!!!).
The plot of the story is fairly simple yet it does have some subplots. The story focuses on a young female named Claudia. She's a writer and decides to go to her family's cabin in an effort to stop her writer's block.
There we come to meet Colton. If I could describe Colton it'd be hot, good looking and I'd say mysterious. Of course, every couple has that friendship status but they then lead themselves to have a romantic journey.
Okay first of all, when I was getting myself into this anthology I wasn't expecting sex. There, however, is sex in some stories but not here. I loved reading the story and was glad that there wasn't sex. Blount's writing style makes us forgive her. Written from First Person Perspective. It's intense, trust me.
“Hey," he said softly. "What are you doing?" "Sorry, I was trying not to wake you. The fire went out."
Colton sat up and stretched his arms above his head, showing off his perfectly toned abs. "Here, let me help you." He got up and helped me stack the wood in the fireplace. "Let's get a little of this bark and paper bag in there," he said, shoving the kindling between the logs. Colton held a larger piece of paper bag against the glowing embers. It quickly caught fire, and Colton placed it up against several pieces of kindling, lighting the fire from various points. "There we go." "Much better," I said, holding my hands out toward the growing flames. Colton rubbed the sides of his arms with his hands. "Sorry, I meant to wake up early and add logs before it went out." I shivered, wincing from the pain emanating from my ribs. "How are you feeling?" he asked, concern in his voice. I pulled the blanket tighter around my body. "My ribs hurt," I admitted. "But my face and head feel a little bit better." Colton frowned. "It's too cold in here for you."
Oh to make things even better for you, Colton has a terrible past. It soon catches up with him causing you to become addicted to this story.
NOT JOKING!
All stories in this anthology I generally enjoyed. One or two weren't made for me. But the one name which I won't say is almost in every single story! And also don't go into this anthology for 'sex'. Go into this anthology for the tasteful writing styles!
I RECCOMEND IT!

Back to Us is a romantic love story about two young adults whose love was unable to flourish because of their families involvement.
Seven years has past by and neither have been able to move on fully from each other. Whilst on a break from college they are reunited and their relationship changes once again, as past emotions are brought to the surface.
This story shows the tenacity of true love between two people who were meant to be together in a well written plot where love conquers all.
This is not your average love story about boy meets girl. There is a deeper love that draws the reader in. I'm sure that anyone who loves a good romance will enjoy this short story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story by M C Roman and would highly recommend it.
