I made probably about 13 of these patterns. All around adorable toys. I wish the steps had been a little more clear and detailed (where things should be sewn on - several came out wonky). I loved how there were parent and baby sizes - it was nice to be able to pick what size I wanted to make. A lot of the patterns had accessories. I didn’t make any of them but they were a neat addition to the book.
Note: patterns say to start a chain but I didn’t like that so I made a magic ring instead for all of mine.
Aside from my general dislike of line-by-line instructions, especially when so obviously not necessary, I was (unpleasantly) surprised at how big those "little" amigurumi are. I guess I didn't read the introduction carefully, but went straight for a pattern I wanted to try. So the size issue came up unexpectedly. I used thread three time thinner than in the instructions, but the toy still turned up almost too big. It's more like a small book of huge kid-sized amigurumi.
These are cute. I made several of them for Christmas and stuffed them with rice so they can be used as hand warmers. In hindsight, perhaps small beans would have been better since the rice has a tendency to fall through the stitches.
Has very well done section on basic stitches, with pictures. Good range of projects. Some are more realistic than others (polar bear vs fox). But crochet is easily modified.
Not really a fair judgment as I seriously dislike amigurumi. The patterns seem it be well written and there are LOTS of pictures. I am considering making the hedgehog and the bunny in the carrot. I may be a convert.
Has several fun ideas and patterns. For a beginner it could have used a little more basic instructions at the beginning like her other books have. I got confused reading the patterns but I'm sure that was my error not the authors.
