“I’m pretty sure he likes d!ck. Now I just need to make him realize it.”

Liver. F*ckboy extraordinaire. Race car driver. Cocky. Horny. Would kill for his best friend.

Knox. Kickboxer with a chip on his shoulder and a heart condition. Crybaby. Would get rid of a body for his best friend.

Wanted for questioning in connection to a murder.

Possibly-maybe in love with each other and too dumb to see it.

Liv never meant to kill anyone. It was an accident. What was he supposed to do when his best friend’s life was at stake?

As much as Knox appreciates the whole saving his life thing, they’re now wanted by the cops, on the run, homeless, hungry, and miserable. At least they have each other.

They hope to find shelter in a vast junkyard, instead they witness a crime and are about to get dunked in acid.

But they’ve overheard that the owner of the place shelters gay guys.

So Liv does the most logical thing. He pretends to be Knox’s boyfriend to get their lives spared. Knox might not like it, but what choice do they have once they started lying?

Only that touching Knox starts an avalanche of new feelings and desires Liv never anticipated. His dick is on board even before his brain is.

Now, all he needs to do is convince Knox that there’s nothing wrong in exploring this new attraction. Sadly, Knox can be as stubborn as he is pretty, but Liv wasn’t called the trailer park prince for nothing.

He’ll do whatever it takes to make Knox see the light.

And by light, he means his dick.

i need to stop having high expectations bc it's clearly not working for me (me saying this as if i won't have high expectations on my next anticipated release, but i can't help it sometimes 😭). i've been too busy stressing over the pharm tech course i'm taking that i was looking forward to this, hoping it'll take me out of the real world for a lil while ... and, don't get me wrong, this had some moments i liked and my read wasn't a complete waste (the possessiveness + how Knox and Liv were ride or die for each other), but nothing wowed me or had me feeling obsessed the way i hoped it would (and i'm not even blaming my weird slump on this bc i was still in the slump while reading Season's Change but i loved that book so) which sucks bc all the tropes i loved were here, but they just didn't fully hit when i actually read the book. it was just fine to me. 🥲

Don’t let those 3 stars make you think this wasn’t fun because it was. These two oblivious endearing knuckleheads were so cute it made me twirl my hair-locks and swoon. Also don’t let the cover tell you this is a dark book because it’s not. It’s light and fluffy and sweet and hot; filled with intense declarations and protective MCs . And of course we have the whole gang of outcasts , each crazier than the other 🤣
I have to confess I’ve only read Shane and Ros’s book but I remember most of the characters except Ezra and let me tell you that I fell in love with the nurturing Ezra and Frank and their cozy house and I was dying to read their story.
If you know this series you know you don’t have to take this book too seriously. There were things that bothered me of course, and it will bother you too but I prefer not to dwell on them because as I said it’s not THAT kind of serious realistic book. It’s just fun and hot. Only 3 stars because the sexuality discovery and getting together happened way too fast, and there was a lot of declarations and sex and again declarations then sex rinse and repeat. So, you know…the plot was very thin and nothing serious happened.

I really did not expect to get another book in this series, but this fit as a surprisingly perfect addition. It’s about two entirely new characters and I initially wondered how they would fit in at the junkyard, but I shouldn’t have worried, because they matched perfectly. The way Knox and Liv found a new family with these crazy, oddly lovable people just warmed my heart.

Of course, the main focus of the book is the romance between Knox and Liv, and it was honestly pretty great. It’s about two best friends, who truly never thought they would be anything more than that, but who are, due to circumstances, forced to see each other in a new light.
I thought the sexual discoveries for both of them were very well done: Each had a very different journey, but neither was less valid and it was interesting to see their contrast. I personally had the biggest soft spot for Knox though, and I absolutely loved seeing the way he blossomed into his best self by finally accepting his sexuality but also his own vulnerability.

The dynamic between Knox and Liv was complete ride-or-die. These two would have done absolutely anything for the other and they were each other’s whole entire world. The love between them ran very deep, and their interactions were so sweet and authentic. Their relationship started out with a lot of banter, teasing and the occasional hostility (just like a regular close “bro” friendship), but it eventually became incredibly soft and gentle. They were constantly giving each other comfort through touch, actions and words, and I just kept swooning at how adorable they were together. They were truly enamored and it was beautiful to see them both discover how completely obsessed and in love they were with each other.

'Wrong Side of the Tracks' series:
1. Scum - 3.0 stars
2. Primal - 2.0 stars
3. D!ckhead - dnf
4. Grind - 4.0 stars
5. Wanted - 3.0 stars

I would like to thank GRR for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

I absolutely ✨LOVE✨ K.A. Merikan, and like always, these ladies delivered another sweet wild ride with a lot of heart and plenty of steam!♨️ Like I was telling my sis, Brooke this was like Fast and the Furious: Trailer Park/Junk Yard edition and I loved every second of it lol!🏁🏎️🚔

K.A. Merikan writes such engaging stories with characters you can't help but feel for, and Liv and Knox's love story was one of the better friends-to-lovers I've read to date! Some of this was uncomfortable (internalized homophobia) and slightly frustrating to read (literally 1 chapter of "boi-are-you-stupid?"😅), but all of it worked to get us the HEA we all wanted by the end of this!🫠💓

Special shout out to the found family that keeps this series shining big time! And while Frank and Ezra are still my favourites (rn because I've not read ALL of the series to this point), I've come to adore the bevy of side characters who are all so richly defined from their cameos that I feel like I know and love them all already!🐶🏍️🔨🐇

K.A. Merikan always brings the spice, the feels, the bois and that comfort food Toretto energy that's like a hug from a gritty grimy action movie! Straight up, I can't wait to actually find some ARC breathing space so I can devour the previous books in this series because I just CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THIS VIBE!!! when it works it just fkin works and WANTED is 💯% a WIN for me!

Gay coke? No. His new addiction wasn’t about just any man. Knox was already getting hooked on Liv.

Hands down, favorite couple of the series. Wanted had so many great tropes — friends to lovers, pretend dating, a double queer awakening and so much more — a recipe for filthy perfection.

Liver and Knox were a blast. A tattooed fuckboy who would kill for his best friend and his emotional, but doesn’t want it to show, pretty boy other half who would never leave his side. They’re codependent, possessive of each other, ride or die for life, oblivious idiots that don’t see what’s right in front of them.

He had ride fast tattooed across both hands, and right now the ink made Knox imagine it stood for Liv riding him as if there was no tomorrow.

Let’s talk about one of my favorite mini tropes ever — hand/knuckle biting during sexy times. Mind melting. So hawt. I love it. I need more.
The spice was fantastic, as it always is with K.A. Merikan. Hot first time experimentations, naughty public shenanigans, passionate and dirty all at the same time.

K.A. Merikan always delivers crazy and unhinged and absolute delicious stories, and I cannot get enough of them.

I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.

CW and tropes (spoilers):
- Double queer awakening
- Internalized homophobia
- MC with a heart condition
- First times
- Fake dating
- Idiots to lovers
- Found family
- Poverty
- Violence
- Frotting/dry humping
- Rimming
- Strict top/bottom
- Public sex
- Movie theater naughtiness 🔥🔥

okay……i was promised fake relationship and basically that shit turned real so freaking fast, we didn’t even get to savor the juicy goodness of the shenanigans that come with the fake relationship trope….😔

i was also promised oblivious idiots and i feel like we got oblivious in a way and we got idiots for sure, but we didn’t get them TOGETHER if that makes sense.

oblivious idiots, to me, promises silly, goofy goodness when it comes to the way they have no idea what right in front of their face. and these two are oblivious, yes, but in a very normal way and once their eyes were open to the wonders of gay sex with their bestie, they were very much immediately on board and looking back like oh how did i not know i liked men/my bestie, but i found it reasonable and in no way silly that they didn’t know considering the environment they were born and raised in and repression and such…..so oblivious, yes, but not idiots, and certainly not the ridiculous dramatics of the oblivious idiots trope that i know and love and was expecting…..😔

now for the idiots part which has nothing to do with not realizing they like men and specifically their bestie, but idiots in the infuriating, ‘wtf are you doing’ kinda way……bc seriously, knox and cyborg had me growling at the screen like knox what tf are you thinking!!! 🤡oh i don’t know if i’ll like all the ins and outs of gay sex so i better go try it all out with some RANDOM dude instead of my trusted bestie who i’m currently ignoring after our first gay tryst and who i refuse to have an adult conversation with even tho that would clear up any worries🤡 BRUHHH……liv did come to the rescue and break that shit right the hell up as he should before anything could happen, but the fact i even had to sit thru that mess…..😒 the fact knox was fully planning to suck and fuck some randy……😒 i find that mad obnoxious.

and then later on with liv and that fucking thrift shop employee🤡…..that’s when my hands started itching bc WHYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! what actual downright doofus moron loser would flirt and get some, again, RANDOM person’s number IN FRONT OF THE PERSON THEY ARE CURRENTLY FUCKING AND SAYING SHIT LIKE YOU AND ME FOREVER AND ALWAYS!!!!!! IN FRONT OF THE PERSON UR DOING BOYFRIEND SHIT WITH!!!!! IN FRONT OF THE PERSON UR LITERALLY ON A DATE WITH!!!!! IN FRONT OF THE PERSON U JUST PUBLICLY SLUTTED OUT AT THE MOVIE THEATER AND IN THE MIDDLE OF SOME ALLEY!!!!! like you literally just wiped your cum off of knox’s ass just 10 minutes prior!!!!! i just don’t believe that you could just forget all of that, with all ur big ass feelings for knox, and mindlessly flirt and get some chick’s number just bc it makes you feel good and you, what, like the attention ?, in the middle of ur fucking date with the person u care about most in the entire world ????? goodbye, i really checked out there. that’s an insane fucking plot point why!!!!! i lost all feelings for liv when he did that, like my stomach hurts!!!!🤕🤕🤕 knox thinks y’all are BOYFRIENDS😭😭😭😭 like what are you doinggggg……so fucking careless and stupid, i literally can’t even fathom, it makes me ILL just thinking about it!!!! anybody who did that to me, BLOCKED!!!!!!! swiftly and immediately!!!! like i am walking out the door, you will never see me again type shit…….i’m all for a little jealousy bringing the mains together, but THIS ???? this was too much for me.

and it’s wild bc other than these two things, i was having a grand ol time!! i literally couldn’t put the book down until i read about them fucking😂😂 they were so fucking SEXY and intimate i was kicking my feet up, having a ball!! like how was a fucking dry hump so electric??!! they were hot!! i was cheesing over the whole thing like the fact this is kinda but not really step bros to lovers and the fact liv has a fucking FRONT TOOTH GAP and knox’s only tattoo is of an anatomical LIVER and the nicknames LIVVY AND KNOXIE😍😍😍😍😍 like bruh i was in heaven!!!

oh wait damn lmao i almost forgot about another grievance i had in the beginning, with knox dating this girl named amanda and liv tried to tell knox that amanda was cheating on him, but knox wasn’t buying it, so liv took it into his own hands and FUCKED knox’s girlfriend to prove his point………fucked up but…….whatever, moving on right??? no, liv CONTINUED to fuck amanda for like a week or two afterwards too just bc he could and he was horny like what😭😭😭😭

it’s like damn, all of that is just too much for my fragile heart😭 it’s like if only the knox & cyborg thing and the liv & thrift shop flirt didn’t happen, i would be squealing rn……bc without all the bullshit, knox and liv are so sweet together🤗🤗 and the found family was soooo good, i loved that they had such a safe place to experience their bi awakening, and all the couples made me want to go back and read their books.

*2.5* It took me weeks to finish this story. The premise was on shaky ground. It was too much, but at the same time, not enough. There were so many different things happening in the story (cheating, murder, car races, arrhythmia, homophobia, beatings, mc club dealings, childhood abuse), and all of these points took away from the story rather than fill it.

The sex was hot, but the emotional depth wasn’t there. I can’t tell if these men were written to be unintelligent, or if their childhood was so traumatic they were unable to mature past 16. They read like teenagers, not 20-something’s.

These two dummies wormed their way into my heart. They incriminated themselves by running away from the scene of a crime (one committed against them) and also ditching their car which just incriminated them even more.

Like I said - dummies.

But they're so cute, like dumb golden retrievers. Well, Liv is more a black lab, but I digress. They have exceptionally shitty luck on top of that, so you can probably tell that this book was full of wtf/face-palm moments. They made my eyes sweat, multiple times, I admit it. They are flawed, but they don't mean to do the crappy things they sometimes ended up doing. Their dumb little hearts are so pure.

P.S. Why was Frank so mean when they found his "machine?" He slapped my baby Knox and I was so upsetty spaghetti.

This is what I remember;

•I was annoyed at the constant pussy talk.
•I was so so anxious when Knox was going to try to hook up with Cy.
•I was in tears(yeah, I’m a baby) at the hurt and betrayal Knox felt when Liv was flirting with a girl on their date, how Liv thought of Knox as basically a FWB while Knox was literally all in head over heels. The betrayal felt personal because Liv was the touchy-affectionate one and as soon as they were out of their little bubble and he got some attention it was like he was ready to have sex with that random girl. I liked that he got his head out of his ass pretty quickly but I also wished that Knox had given him the cold shoulder and made him stew in his regret for a little bit before the whole life/death situation. I wanted Liv to hurt as much as he hurt Knox and then add in the hurt from thinking Knox was gonna die feeling like he wasn’t good enough for Liv not to seek out more outside what they had. I wanted him to suffer, definitely would’ve been a higher rating for me had Liv stewed/groveled more. >:(
•Loved the life/death scene cos that always brings intense emotions to the surface. 🫠

dnf @21% - Jesus Christ, I can’t with these authors.

The POV errors I was willing to look past. A chapter would be titled “Knox” to show we’re in Knox’s POV, but midway the POV would change to tell us things we could only know if we were in Liv’s POV.

And none of the jokes were landing, but, whatever, humor is hard to nail in writing so I wanted to look past that too.

But I fear these authors have lost my trust in handling heavy topics after how badly the pedophile subplot was in “Dickhead” so this was a DNF after seeing a similar theme come up.

On page 97, the character Liv compares sleeping with his best friend as being “the hottest fucking experience ever. Hotter even than his first time with Mrs. Williams from the trailer next door when he was a hormonal fourteen-year-old. Next. Fucking. Level.”

HUH? Like this the “Mrs.” is obviously implying that he slept with an older married women. At fourteen. BRO YOU WERE MOLESTED.

This is something that is GENUINELY already normalized in society today, teen boys getting high fives and slaps on the back instead of therapy when they tell about sexual experiences with older women, so unless this is expanded on later in the book, it just comes off as wrong.

The story isn’t about the effects of being abused or anything of that regard so I’m assuming it’s just a one off sentence, but let me know if isn’t. From the blurb and zero mention of it in other people’s reviews It seems like a throw away line and not an actual subplot in the making.

If the book addresses it somewhere down the line, then let me know and that will clear up my worries, but after how atrociously these authors handled a plot line with a pedophile in their book “Dickhead” AND the weird consent stuff that was in that book, I don’t trust them with heavy topics like that anymore. So I’m dnfing.

I really love the tropes used in this book, like best friends to lovers, but I can’t move past the weirdness. Like I feel queasy. BYE!!!

I've read almost every book from KAM and they are huge favourites of mine. No one can do dark humor with a bit of angst better than them. With that said I tend to love their darker books way more. This is the story of Knox and Liver. To young guys who ends up at Frank's junkyard escaping an accidental killing. Pretending to be lovers to get protection. I loved the first three in this series but here I struggled. Rating this story 2 ⭐⭐

Knox Macy and Liver “Liv” Polk have always been there for each other as best friends, and when they get into an irrevocable situation causing them to go off the grid, their bond significantly deepens.

“You wanted to test out a dick. Is mine meeting your expectations?”

In this character driven story, Knox and Liv have complimentary personalities and both feel a strong need to be protective of each other. While Knox leans on the nurturing side, Liv wants to provide for all of Knox’s needs. As they navigate their new roles, insecurities rise to the surface, but their commitment to each other remains steady.

The relationship Knox and Liv share warmed my heart. There were funny moments and also many steamy times. Every time Liv called him Knoxie, it made me smile. Additionally, with Frank and the junkyard characters, it felt like a found family.

Wanted is about coming out and acceptance. This book would appeal to those seeking a MM romance with heart.

✨ARC REVIEW✨

Idiots to lovers, friends to lovers, sexual awakening, found family. Some of my favourite tropes in books.

Knox and Liv are down on their luck trailer park dudes who have to escape their life in California after accidentally killing a guy. They're very close friends and would do anything for each other, and that was one of my fav things of this story. They hop trains until they arrive at a junkyard and pose as boyfriends so the owner takes pity on them. But that doesn't work exactly as they thought, because they discover that maybe the truly have the hots for one another. There's a subplot of internalised homophobia, because Knox has been raised in toxic masculinity culture. I love how the authors approach the damage it causes, not only regarding gender and sexuality, but also in the general enjoyment of life.

There also was a subplot about Liv, who is bisexual, being a bisexual mess. I decided not to take it as an instance of biphobia from the authors but as a characterization exclusive to the character.

At one point, the book took a turn I wasn't expecting and though it surprised me at first, it became a way of furthering the MCs relationship and developing new action points.

I haven't read the other books in this series, but the found family aspect is delivered by having the MCs of those books help the boys and adopt them. And now I can't wait to read about every one of them.

Thanks to GRR and the authors for the ARC.

I'm low-key obsessed with how good this book is!!! I will definitely be rereading Wanted soon because I just loved everything about it. As soon as I read the blurb I knew this was going to be a 5 star read. Idiots to lovers?! I had to read that ASAP! The description is apt- these boys are pretty dumb- but they're also super adorable. The smut is on point too... Knox and Liv have scorching chemistry 🥵.

Wanted and on the run from the cops, best friends Liv and Knox take shelter in a junkyard. They pretend to be boyfriends to be allowed to stay on the property, even though they're both straight. Liv can't stop thinking about kissing Knox and how amazing he smells. But Liv has never truly been serious about anyone before, and has his own crap to deal with. And Knox has a mountain of toxic masculinity to wade through courtesy of his dad, but he can't deny how it feels to surrender to Liv. Neither can deny how right it feels to be in the other's arms.

"Knox hugged Liv with his aching arm while stroking his hair with the other, his heart filled with love and tenderness. It was strange and new to do this for Liv, but he embraced it like a bear getting a lick of honey. He wanted for Liv to feel safe with him. Being Liv's refuge wouldn't just be Knox's pleasure but also an honour. This man protected him, had uprooted his whole life for him, and offered him things Knox had never even dreamed of. So yes, he would listen, and comfort him, and never ever judge him for moments of weakness."

Anyone who’s had a long term best friend from childhood knows what it’s like and it’s SO hard to mimic in written form. I've read so many books that tried but didn't quite capture the magic of 2 people who know each other inside and out. KA Merikan got it exactly right! The inside jokes, the shared memories and disappointments that were woven into the story... swoon! These two boys can't live without each other and their deep love for each other made me tear up a few times. It's an atypical love story, but an irresistible one ❤️.

Wanted can be read as a complete stand-alone- I haven't read the first 4 books in the series and while I could tell that the other couples were people other readers would recognize, I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

Rating: 4.5
Angst: 3.5/5 (not between MCs)
Steam: 4/5

I received an advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

Liver and Knox are 23 and 21 respectively. They've been friends forever. Their parents are married. But their parents aren't really in their lives, they've lived on their own together for years in a trailer. Liver was getting jealous of Knox's relationship and thinking that Amanda didn't deserve him, because she was cheating on him. He tried to break them up but Knox wouldn't listen, so of course Liver decided to do the smart thing (not) and start f****** Amanda himself in front of Knox. Their friendship is in a little bit of a rough spot because of that, but they are ride or die so even that s***** behavior can't blow up their relationship.

One night when Liver is going to pick up Knox from work, a fight breaks out and Liver accidentally kills someone. They decide to go on the run together. And they find themselves in a risky situation where they have to pretend to be a gay couple so that a gang will go easy on them. Sharing a bed turns into a horny morning and they fool around. It's really good for both of them, Knox realizes he is gay and Liver realizes he is bi. At least for Knox. They decide to turn their relationship real and they start carving a little niche for themselves with their luck changing for the better. But unfortunately, Knox has a heart issue and they need to earn some money fast, and the cops are on the lookout for them for questioning. So there's some conflict.

I enjoyed this story. Yes they were idiots in love, they were not perfect. They did some really dumb s***. Like at one time, Liver accidentally flirts with a girl and gets her number while he's on a date with Knox. It's just muscle memory for him to flirt. I really liked how sweet they were together as a couple. They loved each other so much and were ride or dies before their relationship even turned sexual. Once their relationship was sexual it was steamy and there was such a fondness between them. They would constantly touch each other even in platonic non-sexual ways, which is such a weakness for me. I love characters that are so fond of each other, that just love to snuggle, that treasure their person. I also appreciate that the authors didn't take the first easy opportunity to give the boys an easy way out at the end. Yeah it did work out for them and they lucked out, but we had to wait for it a little.

Some notable moments:

"Because now he knew what Knox looked like aroused, how hazy his blue eyes got when he came, how smooth his lips felt in contrast to the rough stubble. Nothing would be the same after this. And Liv didn’t fucking want it to be. He might have had glimpses of attraction after that brief peck on the lips last night, but once Knox had moaned for him that first time, Liv was a goner. That sound, broken yet resonant like a chime calling to him from the dark, flipped a switch in Liv’s head."

I loved how they loved cute nicknames and asked for them. "“Feel it? Hot and throbbing in you? Say my name again,” Liv half-said, half-grunted, making a few more jerky movements as he planted his spunk deep inside. “Liv…” Liv slid his hand under Knox’s T-shirt and pinched his nipple. “The cute one.” “Livvy…”"

"“Never thought you were a romantic,” he teased, stroking Liv’s nape. Liv swallowed, watching him with a tenderness that melted the last of Knox’s worries and barriers. “I’m not. I’m a rude, shady guy from the worst trailer park in the county. You just have bad taste in men. What? I’m just saying it like it is, sweetheart.”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

"He’d been with an athletic girl once, but her body was incomparable to the sturdiness of Liv’s form, the texture of his skin, the masculine scent he carried… He took charge of things. He was playful, dirty, exhilarating and tender. Liv was like the cars he loved to race⸺ dangerous yet irresistible to any adrenaline junkie."

Wanted by K.A. Merikan is book 5 in the author's Wrong Side of the Tracks series but it can totally be read as a standalone. This is Knox and Liv's story.

What to Expect:

❥MM romance
❥Bi-awakening
❥Gay awakening
❥Found family
❥"Mine"
❥Friends to lovers
❥Fake relationship
❥All the steam
❥All the first times

Liv and Knox are ride or dies besties, literally, when Liv accidentally ends Knox's boss, who is threatening to kill Knox. They end up on the run, masquerading as lovers to gain sanctuary (of sorts) with a group of morally questionable, but ultimately lovable, reprobates.

Whilst Wanted has all the violence, steam and spice that K.A. Merikan is well-known for, it's also a totally endearing tale of life-long friendship and a growing sexual awakening for both our MCs, in the tough, violent and often toxic world they find themselves in.

I loved it!

Genre: MM Romance
Type: Standalone Book 5 of Wrong Side of the Tracks series
POV: Third Person - Dual
Rating:

Knox Macy and Liver Polk were on the run and desperate for shelter when they stumbled upon a junkyard. What started as a survival act quickly turned into something neither of them expected.

I was curious about Knox and Liv, considering they’re new characters in the series. I loved their dynamic, and both captured my attention in their own ways. But Knox was my favorite. I also loved how the other characters took them in and made them part of their family. The story was amusing and overall entertaining.

Wanted is a story of survival and sexual reawakening. It would appeal to readers who enjoy MM Romance with dark humor.

damn. i don't love friends-to-lovers, but this was hot af. the blurb was the first thing that pulled me in with that line "and by light, he means his d*ck" 😭😭💀

aside from humor though, the internalized-homophobia thing was done pretty well. like liver didn't dissipate knox's internal homophobia with his magic dick; it was a gradual process. and their romantic relationship definitely developed a bit fast for me, but given they were close initially anyway it's not weird.

i love knox and liv; liv is hilarious (except for that one scene in the second hand shop i was sooo fucking mad) and i just wanna hide knox away in a box where he'd be safe forever. although i wanted some scenes where knox fought by himself because liv kept saying knox is a good fighter but like, i can't tell?

bonus points because i'm reading this as a standalone and i don't feel left out so yay. although idk if i'll read the previous books because some of the tropes aren't really for me (so was this book's tropes but i still read it :P)

“Is this, like… how girls feel when they’re horny, or is this a gay thing to want dick so much?”

This book is pretty out of place with the rest of the junkyard couples. It doesn't have the same energy and the main characters were somehow forced into the setting, I'm still not sure they actually belong there.

It was difficult to read it, it took me a while. You've got 500 pages of a completely unconvincing main love story and, well, nothing else. This book offers nothing else. No big plot, no angst, no satisfying developments, maybe a little bit of hot sex, that's it.

🟣 Best friends (debatable) to lovers
🔵 On the run, found family
🟢 Gay-awakening/bi-awakening
🟠 Many side characters, best to read other books in the series before this one
🟡 Age gap - 2 years 21/23
🔵 Trailer park guys
🌶️ Good smut, a lot of it; first times; penetrative, oral, rimming; t/b

Right off the bat the story starts with Knox and Liv, supposed childhood best friends who've lived together in a trailer since their teenage years, are now not really talking because Liv was such a good friend to Knox, he had to sleep with his girlfriend behind his back and has been doing it regularly ever since, because Liv wanted to show Knox that she's not really what he needs. So he took one for the team. Had sex with his best friend's girl behind his back. And still going on, they're still hooking up right there at their trailer. He's noble like that.

"Liv's shoulders went slack as he watched Knox. “She had a great pussy, and maybe I enjoyed trying to get you away from her too much, but I really did it for your own good.”"

Right. 🙄

This was the first thing that really made me question the foundation of this potential love story.

Liv and Knox ran away after Liv killed Knox's asshole boss, they ended up in Frank's scrapyard where they witnessed a few things and pretended to be boyfriends to then be taken in.

At first, Knox's gay-awakening was pretty decent and I was kind of hoping they'll get past the silly stuff and actually get closer on a deeper level, but Liv was just too much of a jerk and not a good match to Knox. This guy was having sex with Knox, they were getting intimate and since they were best friends and Knox meant so much to Liv, it was surprising to see Liv was still flirting around, checking women out and all this while having his first official date with Knox. So for me this wasn't a bi-awakening because Liv wasn't bisexual, not really, it was more of a GFY, and that's it. And it was such a hard decision too. Liv had to really tune in not to cheat on Knox with women, not to flirt and really be faithful. He constantly felt a loss in giving up women. He didn't get over it. I'm not saying the guy should magically forget the world existed and have eyes for one guy only, but it didn't really seem like this was something he'd ideally choose for himself.

When Knox had the option of getting with another guy, I really hoped he was going to take it. I think he needed that.
But surprise, surprise

"Was this… did this count as cheating? Nobody cheated on Liv, and while he and Knox were friends who’d fucked around one time, the stabbing deep inside consumed his insides like a piranha."

Kind of weird because this guy is far from a possessive boyfriend, in real life he'd eventually run off with a girl and start a family, so I definitely think Knox should've gotten with a few men in that biker club prior to just settling for Liv.

Their romantic relationship was based on sex, on getting off, there wasn't much else there, even though they loved each other as friends. And that's still to be determined if they are best friends because Liv doesn't carry the maturity to be a decent best friend or boyfriend. I get they're both young but character development is lacking in this story, I think by the end of the book they still didn't know what they were doing.

"Was he making any sense? He now had all these tender feelings for Liv. Wanted to make him smile, bring him coffee, maybe a sandwich, but not in, like, a girl way."

Liv and Knox had big issues with caring for each other. Giving each other comfort or even cooking, anything that resembled any kind of care. Fine, they could've had trauma and weren't comfortable still with being together, but after about 300-400 pages, shouldn't they somehow gotten over that? Shouldn't something change by then? They needed to mature, badly.

I mean, they had established gay couples all around them and they somehow just couldn't get on the same level. They were like little kids compared to the rest of the guys who were grown ups.

Knox and Liv offered a different vibe from the junkyard men we have all come to know and love. Although, they soon find that scrap doesn't fall far from the heap (made sense in my head.) Just like all the other pariahs that have made an unlikely oasis between the mounds of cars, and debris in Pennsylvania, Knox, and Liv are no different in finding their found family of misfits. And like with the previous books in this series, there's no shortage of drama and action. Movie worthy moments that would give the guys from Dumb and Dumber a run for their money, and had me on the edge of my seat, while at the same time screaming blue murder; mainly towards Liv's incredibly dense self, it would be endearing if it weren't so tragic.

Liv has always been that one constant in Knox's life, and vice versa, but after a series of very unfortunate events. Liv and Knox start to see each other in a completely foreign way. Well, kind of...

I expected all kinds of tomfoolery with these knuckleheads, and they definitely did deliver. Some rot your teeth sweetness, and crying, as the growth along the way that transforms these idiots-to-lovers is a ‘real’ rollercoaster. I'm just glad they had ‘daddy’ Frank and mother hen Ezra there to slap some sense into them.

This is one of my favourite characters of the entire series—trying to take the crowns from Shane & Ros—and I'm hoping to see some future crossovers with the Demon Brethren MC. That needs to become a thing.

Knox and Liv have been 'ride or die' best friends since Liv's dad hooked up with Knox's mum. Liv is a f*ckboy extraordinaire, tattooed, race car driving good time boy. Knox is a quick to anger prettyboy with a heart condition. When Knox is threatened by his no-good boss, an accidental death has them hopping a train and leaving their trailer park behind for good.

Arriving in Frank's junkyard seeking shelter, they see something they shouldn't and are caught. Liv pretends they are gay so they're offered a chance to stay and so begins their slightly unhinged journey to a queer sexual awakening. These two are totally co-dependant, clueless and desperate. Yet their first time together, as feelings begin to grow is such a revelation for them both. I loved how Liv was just all-in despite Knox's reticence. It was undeniably sweet how it was like they were seeing each other for the first time, thought different eyes.

The internalised homophobia contrasted with the many instances of overcoming the toxic masculinity that both had grown up in. Seeing them be sweet and gentle with each other was both funny and sad given their reactions to it. The authors explore this with sensitivity (as they do Liv's grappling with his bisexuality) and in a way that is real, not an idealised version of how it might be in a perfect world.

This wasn't especially deep though there was some action and enough of a side plot to keep it interesting for those of you who don't just want the queer awakening bits. Oh, and the steam was solid as always!

I loved seeing the rest of the junkyard family again - hoping there's more to come with the MC characters (Cyborg anyone🔥 ?)

“I love that you’re my first,” Knox whispered, breaking their chain of jokes, but it only made Liv melt more.
“And last,” Liv added.
“And only.”

5+++ stars! I loved this book!

Knox & Liv: trailer park boys, step bros, best friends, ride or die.. when they have to “fake date or die”, the affection just comes naturally 🖤 I loved all the sweet touches and cuddling! There is so much face and neck nuzzling 😻

This is dark & gritty like K.A. Merikan are known for, but also hilarious and romantic. These guys are so sweet together! Liv is a cocky fuckboy and Knox is a temperamental soft boi and they both want to take care of each other 🥹 The scene when Knox & Liv make love for the first time is phenomenal. It’s hot, but so lovely and it made me forget that they were in a filthy trailer

I loved how Frank & Ezra adopted these two baby gays. Frank is the exasperated papa they both needed 😆

If Cyborg’s book isn’t next I’m going to fucking riot!! He’s been on my mind since he appeared in tactical gear like a COD cosplay wet dream

So dramatic 🙄, I didn't read the other books before this (and I don't plan on it), but jumping into this as a stand-alone wasn't a hard read at all; I thought they were a cute couple; smut was okay but this book dragged on forever.

Take off like 200 pages, and this would be ok. I felt like this could've been wrapped up at 60% skimmed after that. 5/10 because of the dramatics, clichés, and the never-ending book.

Liv and Knox ❤️🔥❤️

4.5 Stars ⭐️

I didn't think this series could get any better, should have known K.A. Merikan would deliver! Honestly these two were crazy in love but just didn't know it, all it took was being on the run, finding an equally crazed found family and a junkyard to make them realize!! The chemistry was explosive, plot fantastic and the cameos from the characters we love.... perfect!!! I absolutely ate this up, I'd recommend and for series readers this is a must!!

What a pleasure to have a book of this length hold my interest for its entirety! For all of the shorter books, novellas, and short stories that I read, it is great to realize that I am at over 400 pages and still enjoying the first and second epilogues.
The authors give so much bang for the buck! A side hustle for them could be teaching a seminar on how to write an MM sex scene. Some darn enthralling sex scenes, as were the ones here. Sex with all of the love was the cherry on top.
This book was a departure from the found family characters being the MCs. Here, two on the run, very down on their luck trailer park young men stumble into the nighttime junkyard, cold, tired, starving, and are met with Dex in a hazmat suit disposing of a body with Shane’s assistance. Horrified and terrified they sneak away straight into animal skin covered Jag and his spear. The superb writing from the beginning to here brings us back into this wonderful world! I love all of the junkyard guys! I was surprised that the standout to me was Ezra. An elegant fish out of water in this world, yet he has blended seamlessly into Frank’s life and the lives and lifestyles of the others. His kindness wrapped in snobbishness made for some good scenes.
I love me some hurt comfort in a story and here it was in spades with heart aching scenes of Knox and Liv as they travel cross country by jumping trains and ending up at the junkyard.
Frank is the book’s hero who takes a chance based on instinct and lets Knox and Liv stay. I was grateful for the scenes of them being fed, cleaned, and given a place to rest.
To ensure that they are made more welcome, Liv blurts out that he and Knox are a gay couple, which they are so not. Or, are they? This was a book filled with far more introspection than action. All of the dissecting of the relationship in both the MCs heads was written so well and never bogged down the story. For myself, I thoroughly enjoyed the lengthy thought process in Liv’s head, especially, that had him realizing he had always loved Knox in a protective and brotherly way, and with just a slight turn it could become physical love, as they had both always admired each other’s physical beauty and sexual charisma, while keeping it to themselves. Holy hotness when the relationship became sexual! As I mentioned before the authors could give a master class in sex scenes, as these were complete with the inner thoughts and facial expressions and tender words that had the scenes soaring!
The author’s books that hold back on blood and violence are the better read for me, as this one was. I appreciated all of the homey scenes of the gang and the newcomers gathered to eat with the healthier food prepared by Ezra. Every character and their partner were in many of the scenes and it was great! I love Dex and his runaway mouth and no shame peeking at the MCs having sex, lol. I need to reread Frank’s book because he was the anchor of this one, the father to these two lost boys. I loved it!

Fook me this was good!!! This in a first read for me from this author and, although this is book 5 of the series it 100% works as a standalone.

Sweet Lord what a book this is!! The writing in it is so unapologetic and real and I love it!! There's no holding back, there's literally nothing I can fault this for. I mean, the quote “I’m pretty sure he likes d!ck. Now I just need to make him realize it.” says it all about what to expect from this! A f*ckboy that would literally kill for his best friend, possessiveness (my absolute fav), ride or die.... I mean the list just goes on!!

Amazing read & I'm going back to the beginning of this series, going to devour books 1-4 as quickly as is humanly possible, then will likely read this one again!

“There’s nothing more important. I’d do anything for you to be better. Anything. I’d even give you my own heart if I could. Just so you can be fine again, even if it’s without me,”

Top libros :

1. Grind
2. D!ckhead
3. Primal
4. Wanted
5. Scum

Top parejas :

1. Dex y Hammer
2. Frank y Ezra
3. Jag y Dane
4. Shane y Ros
5. Knox y Liver

Top personajes :

1. Dex
2. Ezra
3. Frank
4. Jag
5. Hammer
6. Knox
7. Dane
8. Shane
9. Liver
10. Ros
