Heartbeat star Niamh Cusack has had a long and successful acting career since the show left our screens and she also has some pretty famous relatives.

Niamh Cusack was born in Dalkey, Ireland and comes from a long family tradition of acting with both her father, Cyril and her mother, Maureen Cusack acting throughout their lives. In 1990, she married Finbar Lynch, another actor, who once made a brief appearance as Farmer Hamlet in Game Of Thrones.

As for Niamh herself, apart from her role as Dr Kate Rowan in Heartbeat, she has starred in many different shows. As for her on-screen husband, played by Nick Berry, he has left acting to focus on his family.

After Heartbeat, Niamh starred in a variety of TV series and TV movies, including Always and Everyone, an episode of Midsomer Murders, Silent Witness and Rebellion. Most recently, the Irish actress appeared in The Tower as Claire Mills, which came out earlier this year.

In 1994, while Heartbeat was still on TV, she gave birth to her son, Calam Lynch, who has gone on to star in some major blockbusters.

He first appeared as a sailor in the Christopher Nolan WW2 production, Dunkirk, and went on to star in an episode of Derry Girls and as George Winthorp alongside Kate Winslet and Mackenzie Foy in the 2020 production of Black Beauty. Calam also appeared in Terence Davies film Benediction.

Calam also starred in Netflix's Bridgerton, playing Theo Sharpe.

Niamh Cusack is showing no signs of slowing down her career and has a number of upcoming projects, including Archie and Four Mothers, so she'll be back on screens before you know it.
