The Giant Rat of Sumatra
The Giant Rat of Sumatra was an Indonesian rodens-breed Ratkin who founded a criminal empire. The Giant Rat contracted the Birthing Plague from European rats who had stowed away aboard a cargo ship. Eager to learn what he had become, the Giant Rat in turn traveled by sea across the length and breadth of the British Empire, meeting his fellow wererats and establishing a global crime syndicate. He eventually appointed himself the Sumatran Emperor, a title that has been handed down to one of his hundreds of descendants.
