A Keeper was a part of a prince's Court during the Dark Medieval. Keepers are advisors to their liege in spiritual matters.

Overview[]

The tradition of the Keeper went back to antiquity, where princes would have oracles (mostly Malkavians or Nosferatu) at their court to advise them. With the rise of Christianity, these pagan roles were more and more pushed back and Ashen Priests took their place.

A Keeper had to keep his Prince's spiritual well-being, helping them to avoid the Beast. They lead public sacraments for the court, and often Keepers also acted as advisors in matters they had a particular knowledge of, like politics or spirituality.

With the standardization of Humanity among the vampires of the Camarilla, and the rise of Priests within the Sabbat that fill a similar role, Keepers have vanished as an office in the Modern Nights.
