The Independent Alliance is a theoretical alliance of the Giovanni and the Followers of Set created for Mind's Eye Theatre: Vampire: The Masquerade.

Background[]

Following the Nights of Turmoil, the Sabbat focused its attentions on the remaining Independent Clans as those closest to their Antediluvians (as well as representing softer targets than the Camarilla). The Setites and the Giovanni both suffered significant losses, and in 2008, Augustus Giovanni was abducted by unknown assailants. In response, the Giovanni withdrew from the Promise of 1528 and in 2011, the two clans signed a Treaty of Alliance in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The Treaty specifies that, outside of their respective ancestral homelands in Venice and Egypt, all territories held by either clan are to be considered shared territories, and an emissary from one shall be present in the courts of the other. The Alliance affirms their independence of the Camarilla and Sabbat but promises mutual protection and aid. In addition to a united front against the Sabbat, the two clans have been able to pool their ties to the mortal criminal underworld and share their knowledge of necromancy and blood magic with one another.

Trivia[]

The Independent Alliance, and the events leading up to its formation, were created by By Night Studios as a continuation of the metaplot following the Time of Judgment, assuming that events did not culminate in Gehenna in 2004.

Like most elements of the metaplot introduced following the conclusion of the Time of Judgement, it was not incorporated into later works once publishing of new Vampire: The Masquerade works resumed developing the metaplot following the release of the deliberately metaplot-agnostic Vampire: The Masquerade 20th Anniversary Edition. However, both independent clans later formed alliances with other clans within the main Vampire metaplot. The Giovanni became part of Clan Hecata in Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition, and the Followers of Set, rechristened the Ministry, instead joined the Anarch Movement.
