Before the rise of Christianity, the Pythian Order was a group Hellenic and Greek sorcerers who served as oracles and found magic in poetry and music. Their magic combined numerology, astrology, and music. Never common, their numbers shrank through the Dark Ages to the dozen that remained when the Renaissance came around. There was a new interest in Greek culture during the Romantic period but the esoteric nature tended to keep away most people. Some original texts still remain and prove quite potent in use.

A small handful of priests remain and are very powerful after centuries of study. The maintain a temple on Milos off the coast of Greece. The Daughters of Cacophony were purportedly founded by a Toreador with interest in the Pythian poems.
