Toradora! has a claustrophobic focus on the lead characters and a plot that's shallow and cliche ridden but manages to be entertaining anyway, proving once again you don't need to have a deeper meaning to be fun.

Kampfer DVD
Though this series initially gives the impression of being a sexy, action-oriented tale centered on a gender-switching character, it instead ends up being more of a harem comedy with the hero/heroine drawing attention in both forms. It can be funny but has serious plot issues.

Initial D: Stage 2 DVD

The series shifts fully into character and plot development mode, with juicy results, as it concludes arcs about Celty's missing head and the Slasher. Twists and turns are plentiful and the quirky spirit which defined earlier episodes still strongly persists.

Cross Game Episodes 39-50 Streaming
A beautiful, heartfelt end to a beautiful, heartfelt series, and wholly satisfying. Really, you couldn't ask more from a final arc.

Guin Saga Collection 1
This tale of a leopard-headed warrior who must defend endangered royal twins is pure old-school, Western-styled, epic high fantasy, the kind which evokes the spirit of Conan the Barbarian stories. Though the writing could be crisper, it looks and sounds terrific.

Viewtiful Joe DVD
The localization is so labored and so over-the-top, even the kids they're trying to pander to will see right through it.
