Otis was a convict who was incarcerated in Sing Sing.

Biography[]

On October 26, 1985, Otis stood behind Walter Kovacs in the prison cafeteria line. Otis started talking to Kovacs, complimenting him on his infamy. Kovacs immediately knew that he's going to start something. So he started eyeing up objects in the room, drew up his counterattack, chose to use a vat of cooking oil, not just to disable his attacker, but also to strike the maximum fear and terror in the surrounding prisoners.

Otis prepared to stab him with a shiv; before he could cause him any harm, Kovacs countered his attack with his lunch tray. Now unarmed and frightened, Kovacs smashed Otis' head in the with tray, and seized a vat of hot cooking fat and doused the hulking convict, causing horrific burns.

Otis languished in the prison hospital for the next five days and died on Halloween night. Big Figure, an old enemy of Kovacs, seized upon Otis' death to start a prison riot as a distraction to gain entry to Kovacs' isolation cell and attempted to kill him.[1]
