Sample of Blue Sunday

Blue Sunday is a Cherenkov-Glass irradiated material originating from the soil of M-SITE//11.3.85/UK, the location where Doctor Manhattan caused Cartwithen Castle in Gwynedd, North Wales to disappear unexpectedly.

History[]

On November 3rd, 1985, Doctor Manhattan transported Cartwithen Castle to Europa.[1] The teleportation left behind a massive crater along with irradiated Cherenkov-Glass soil found either directly from the voided foundation of Cartwithen Castle, or within the estimated radius (150 meters) of the teleportation event, which came to be known as Blue Sunday.[2][3]

The exotic blue material supposedly has all kinds of health benefits including re-harmonization of discordant chakra; amplified empathy, mood elevation, stress relief; as well as detoxification, healthier skin, and firmer stool.[2]

Parker Industries International salvaged dozens of samples of the irradiated matter and sold it for a profit. Blue Sunday was sold as premium class samples each sold in a 10-gram bag sealed with a detachable and collectible atomic symbol clasp (platinum) and a certificate of authenticity. The material is guaranteed to be non-carcinogenic.[2][4]

However, Blue Sunday would later be categorized as illegal in the United States under the Food, Drug and Technology Administration (FDTA) as it is violation of the Tech Recall and Reintroduction Act of 1993, which prohibits the possession and distribution of all M-Class materials.[4]

Trivia[]

  • Blue Sunday was set up as a joke item to be "purchased" from Nine Inch Nails' online website. If you try to add Blue Sunday to your cart, you get a popup message with a Doctor Manhattan's hydrogen atom symbol with the circle and slash through it, saying that the item is unavailable due to FDTA regulations.[2]
  • People who have successfully managed to order it online all received supplemental material including a letter from the FDTA, a certificate of authenticity for the soil, and a torn open back that the dirt was confiscated from.[5][4]
  • The letter is sent from an FDTA agent named Byron David Lewis, the same name as Mothman.[4]
  • People who were able to purchase Blue Sunday from the NIN online store reported receiving phone calls of a pre-recorded message from the FDTA.[5][6][7]
