Warriors Fanfiction

Heyo wikians! Today we have Tilan bringing you the news on the latest changes to our community :D

First, about me[]

You might have noticed the semi-hiatus. I've been slower in replying to admin messages, have been leaving multiple conversations hanging in the air, and have been slow in finishing owed art and the revenges I promised for artfight.

I've been so very busy the past month, and I will likely only get busier in the near future as I'm applying for college two years early. I've been doing well though! My productivity has increased, and I'm slowly fighting back on the old procrastination habits >:D See y'all in maybe two months if I get something! I've also taken up ultimate frisbee and latin dancing, so that's an extra step as well.

And now, the news -

Updated image policy[]

We will be enforcing stricter regulations on image uploads from this day onwards in accordance with the FANDOM creative commons policy and wider copyright laws. The newest additions to our rules include:

  • Linked credit must be offered for ALL images that were not made by the creator unless the image is a stock image. The link should redirect to the original image and be visible on every page the image is used on.
    • This includes photos.
    • This applies to both normally used images and "buffer" images in posts.
    • Pictures from picrews should have a link to the picrew.
    • Images under creative commons should still be credited with a link.
    • For collages, linked credit must be offered for all images used in the collage.
  • No art OR photography should be reposted unless you have explicit permission from the creator OR if the image is under creative commons/free use.
  • Traced art is not allowed.
  • The above rules apply to both discussions and article pages and will be enforced from this day onwards.

Regarding coding theft[]

While not copying other users' coding has been part of wiki etiquette for a long time, today we will be finally incorporating this into the rules.

  • Coding theft, defined as directly taking a user's coding with little to no changes without the permission of the coder, is not allowed. If you see coding techniques that you really like, please ask the creator first before taking them.
    • We admit that the line between inspiration and theft is blurred. The general guidelines are that the new code should not be instantly recognisable as being similar to the old one. For specific cases, the staff team would decide whether a code counts as stolen or not.

Further reminders[]

A few things about editing etiquette that would make our lives a lot easier!

  • We would infinitely prefer it if you could ONLY make pages once you have writing for them :D A lot of the pages we remove during batch deletes are pages where only allegiances and a blurb exist, so make sure to have at least a few paragraphs on your page if you don't want it to be deleted!
    • Title claims are discouraged </3 and so is creating a page for your series if you're still working on your first book!
    • Feel free to ask us to undelete your pages at any time, but if you do so, we expect you to add onto that page within one or two weeks. It's kind of off-putting to have to restore a page that was deleted due to being a stub to only have it remain a stub :,D
  • If you want to have a new version of a file, you DON't have to upload a new file and edit the page to use the new file! Just go to the original file and click "upload a new version of this file". It'll save you time, and save ours too.
  • If you want to have an old page deleted, ask on the talkpage of a content mod or admin, or add the delete template by typing {{delete}} in source mode.
  • Link your alts <3

And finally -[]

We are looking into automating some of our more repetitive maintenance duties, specifically deleting unused files, sorting out double redirects, and deleting broken redirects using some fun javascript coding from Dev Wiki. I will be running these scripts from Tilan-bot, which I've put in an application to be officially recognised by fandom as a bot account.

Article stub deletions are still done manually, and automation is conducted only when I am online to supervise. For any questions or if the bot deleted/edited something you didn't want to be changed, contact me on my talk!

Have a nice day/night y'all :D
