"I've reared kits here before, and I'll rear them again." |

Rising Moon is a small[4] gray-and-white she-cat with blue eyes.[5]
History[]
In the Power of Three arc[]
Long Shadows[]
- Rising Moon: "Were you hurt while you were in the tunnels?"
- Jay's Wing: "N-no. I'm not injured. My pads are sore, that's all."
- Long Shadows, pages 193-194
- Rising Moon is a queen during the time of the Ancients. She is close to having her kits when Jaypaw, in the form of Jay's Wing, first sees her. She takes Broken Shadow away, as the sharpclaw still grieves for her lost kit, Fallen Leaves. The heartbroken mother remains slightly bitter towards Jay's Wing for coming out of the tunnels, even after the incident. Concerned for Jay's Wing's wellbeing, Dove's Wing fetches Rising Moon to look over the new sharpclaw. The queen is confused when he mentions horsetail, a herb she has never heard of before. Rising Moon is one of the few cats who has a brief knowledge of healing herbs, and she mentions that Running Horse taught her everything she knows. She is not a medicine cat, but helps out when cats are sick.
- When the casting of the stones starts to decide whether or not the group would travel to the mountains, Rising Moon appears, nudging Broken Shadow along with Chasing Clouds flanking her other side. Rising Moon casts her stone to stay, saying that she reared kits here before and she will do so again. Her mate, Chasing Clouds, however, chooses to leave. Rising Moon comforts Broken Shadow when the decision to leave is made. She and Chasing Clouds speak softly to each other for comfort. Chasing Clouds touches his nose to her ear, saying that they will raise strong, healthy kits in the mountains.
In the Omen of the Stars arc[]
Sign of the Moon[]
- Rising Moon's doubt about coming to the mountains increases when Chasing Clouds is attacked by an eagle. When Chasing Clouds is led into the cave after the attack, she can't bear to look, and turns away. In the Cave of Pointed Stones, Rising Moon tells Jay's Wing that Chasing Clouds wants to see him. Later, when Jayfeather is visited by the Tribe of Endless Hunting in a dream, he sees Rising Moon, Half Moon, Stone Song, and Owl Feather farther back in the ranks of starry cats.
In the Field Guides arc[]
The Ultimate Guide[]
- It is mentioned on Half Moon's page that she is the daughter of Rising Moon and Chasing Clouds.
