Graystripe's Vow[]
- When Stormfur tells Graystripe that a rogue on the other side of the mountains asked about him, Graystripe wonders if it could be one of the barn cats he and Millie met on their way to the lake, referring to Pad and their family.
In Graystripe's Adventure[]
Warrior's Refuge[]
- Pad is the kit of Moss and Husker, and is the sibling of Little Mew, Birdy, and Raindrop. They all live in a barn next to a Twoleg nest where their mother, father, and uncle, Splash, once lived. Their family is being terrorized by the Twolegs and their dogs, so Pad, Raindrop, Birdy, and Little Mew are forced to stay in the barn.
- They are with their mother and siblings when a loner named Graystripe tries to persuade Husker to save his companion, Millie, from the monster. They scowl at Graystripe while Moss wraps her tail around them and their siblings protectively.
- One night, Millie and Graystripe are talking and see Pad sleeping beside their family. Millie remarks on how cute the kits were, and how badly she felt for them, living as if each day was a battle. Later, when Millie teaches the family how to speak dog, Raindrop says they should do the same thing. Birdy agrees, adding that they should do it better. Pad pretends to be the dog first, and then tells Little Mew to take their place. They play-fight with the other kits shortly afterward.
- When the kits are taken down to meet the Twolegs, they are surprised by how much room there is at the bottom of the barn. Pad exclaims that it is great as they bat Raindrop's haunches. They and the other barn cats seem to enjoy the Twolegs' company.
