The Iron Hawks is a Loyalist Space Marine Chapter from an unknown Founding and a successor of the Ultramarines.

The Iron Hawks are blessed with pure and complete gene-seed, though they're currently recovering from heavy losses after a particularly long and gruelling campaign.

Despite being strict adherents to the Codex Astartes, they've garnered a reputation for the brutal effectiveness of their high-speed assaults aboard Thunderhawk gunships.

The Iron Hawks revere their Primarch Roboute Guilliman above all others -- save the Emperor -- and they loathe those who have turned their backs on the Imperium.

The Iron Hawks' Chapter planet is called Stormfall and it is located in the portion of the Ultima Segmentum on the far side of the Great Rift in the Imperium Nihilus close to the Somnium Stars Warp storm.

Notable Campaigns[]

  • Bloodswarm Crusade (936.M41) - The Bloodswarm Crusade was brought to a successful conclusion by the Iron Hawks and White Scars Chapters.
  • Bloodplague Crusade (995.M41) - The Iron Hawks and Salamanders united to defeat the Daemon legions of Khora'arr'seth, slaying the Warp entity on the corrupted Shrine World of Lamath's Hope. The Salamanders withdrew after cleansing the entire world by fire in an Exterminatus action.

Notable Iron Hawks[]

Astartes[]

  • Techmarine Chiron - Chiron pilots an Iron Hawks Stormraven assisted by a servitor and former Chapter aspirant Signa-IX, who mans the aircraft's guns.

Notable Non-Astartes Personnel[]

  • Signa-IX (Aspirant Servitor) - Signa-IX is a servitor who was created from an aspirant of the Iron Hawks who failed the gene-seed organ augmentation process. However, he still serves the Chapter after his cybernetic conversion. Signa-IX operates the guns of the Stormraven piloted by Techmarine Chiron.

Chapter Appearance[]

Chapter Colours[]

The Iron Hawks primarily wear metallic dark grey power armour. The pauldrons are black, while the shoulder plate trim is metallic dark grey. Most strikingly, the helm's faceplate is stark white.

The red squad tactical specialty symbol -- battleline, close support, fire support, Veteran or command -- is located on the right shoulder plate.

A white Low Gothic numeral is stenciled on the centre of the squad specialty symbol, which indicates squad number.

The colour of the Aquila or Imperialis on the chest guard indicates company number in accordance with the Codex Astartes -- i.e. white (1st Company), yellow (2nd Company), red (3rd Company), green (4th Company), etc.

Chapter Badge[]

The Iron Hawks' Chapter badge is a white profile of a stylised hawk's head on a field of black.

Canon Conflict[]

There is a slight difference between the Chapter colours of the Iron Hawks laid out in Adeptus Astartes: Successor Chapters on page 59 and displayed above and the painted miniatures displayed by Stu Black on the Warhammer Community site and the Warhammer YouTube channel and shown in the gallery below. The miniatures, all of which are Primaris Marines, have black chest plates and black knee plates, which differ from the purely metallic dark grey of those areas on the colour scheme of the Firstborn Iron Hawks.
