Shade Junior, more commonly known as Shade II and Shade, is the main antagonist of Rock Dog universe, serving as the overarching antagonist in the first arc, the central antagonist in the second arc and the secondary antagonist in the third arc.

He is a British-Singaporean-American Komodo dragon, who is a financial advisor and creative director for the music industry, a real estate businessman and secretly a leader and founder of the international terrorist organization Super-villainous and Heinous Administration for Domination and Elimination aka SHADE (a pastiche of SPECTRE from James Bond and Cobra from GI-Joe) and is a former rock star, originally from Jakarta, Indonesia. He is voiced by Paul Dobson.

Appearance[]

Shade is a slim yet muscular Komodo Dragon with a completely bald head and an olive green skin with small dark green spots on his tail. He has black eyes, white sharp fangs and teeth jutting from upper jaw, a snake-like forked tongue and black-trimmed claws. He wears a black double breasted business suit with a red tie, but usually wears a white tank top, dark blue pants and black docker shoes. He is of mixed heritage, British on his father's side and Singaporean on his mother's side. His body structure resembles a cross between Khampa and Linnux.

As a child, he wears a green military camouflage outfit with green army helmet and black combat shoes.

As a teenager, he has black, human-like hair styled into a pompadour and wears a rocker outfit and a pair of black sunglasses. His body shape is somewhat identical to that of Bodi's.

As a young adult, his hair becomes shorter and slicked-back and wears a red business jacket, a black button-up shirt and dark gray trousers.

As a super-villain, he dons a metallic black, blue and silver bulky mechanical power suit of heavy armor armed with retractable proton cannons and missile launchers. He wears a Robocop-esque helmet and a black visor with red LED eyes. The chest of his suit is a lizard-shaped face with the sonic cannon in its mouth. The arms and legs of his suit has three fingers and three toes. He has two artillery cannons mounted on the back of his suit.

Personality[]

Shade is two-sided; he could be stingy, pragmatic, efficient, deceptive, and egotistical anti-villain/super-villain. He acts like a business mentor and has always been on good terms with Bodi, Darma, Germur, Lil' Foxy and K9. Despite his competency and his ruthless, abrasive, duplicitous, serious, insensitive, heinous and cold-hearted nature, Shade is a bit more polite, civil, even-tempered, authentic, prudent, relaxed, altruistic, inspiring, sociable, sophisticated, compassionate, and well-mannered than Linnux; as he merely loses his patience. He is a proud, affable and practical music business employer that displays a certain amount of pompousness and sarcasm, as well as impatience, intolerance and disregard towards his inferiors. Despite being part of the music industry's board of directors and the chairman of the company, he also serves as an uncle/father-like figure to Bodi throughout the half of the story. His tragic backstory, successful exterior and solemn attitude are most likely because of rejection from his rock band and of his father's death. He will also show gratitude to those he feels earns his respect, as shown through his exchange with Bodi. He can be considered to be the dark parallel of Bodi and could serve as a polar opposite to Darma. However, he does have a dry sense of humor, as he is shown making clever puns and witty banter in the midst of battle. He is calm and is not one to show emotions, making it hard for others to read what he is thinking. He speaks in a hybrid accent which is a mix of British and American English (possibly Transatlantic accent) despite being part Singaporean.

When he was young, Shade possessed a similar naive personality like Bodi and he is very loyal to his father similar to how Bodi is loyal to his father Khampa. However, Shade feels unimportant being that he is said to be just the son.

He appears to be known to collect the Ganesha statue, the Japanese Samurai armor, firearms and vehicles typically used in the World War II and Vietnam War, many types of medieval era weapons, the ancient Chinese ship, a Viking helmet, a pair of 20-foot Sobek statues, the Babylonian urn, the ancient Asian paintings, the ancient Greek shield, the armor of the black knight, the African tribal mask, the statue of Quetzalcoatl, a Hawaiian Tiki totem pole, a NASA space shuttle and the fossilized skeleton displays of the Tyrannosaurus rex and the Triceratops as well as music records and rock music instruments.

He is against villains like Lang (Linnux in disguise) and his attempts to control the music world and to become a king of rock'n'roll as Shade wants to make it a better place. For example, despite his villainy, he still showed some signs of caring for Bodi, despite antagonizing him for mostly pragmatic reasons. Shade also seemed immensely disgusted at Lang for mistreating Bodi, showing he possibly could have had some heart. He is very contentious, hard-nosed, strict, paranoid, skeptical, grouchy, harsh, outspoken, realistic, sardonic, cynical, and much more rational than Lang and is not afraid to point out Lang's ideas. He also dismisses the idea of making Lang a hero in others' eyes by hypnotizing people into mindless zombies; even the maniacal Lang chews out Shade for his complete denial over it. When Lang is empowered and manifested in a green energy, Shade distrustfully chews him out for this, to which Lang responds by becoming frustrated and turning against Shade. Shade goes on to say that Bodi's family have found themselves the newfound power and Lang's plot risks scamming the music industry and claims that Lang just don't have the talent, but Lang found the talent and got to own music and tells Shade that there's nothing that he can do to stop him. Shade angrily warns Lang not to play with his guitar but Lang ignores the warning and knocks him out with his musical green energy. Shade blamed Lang for his betrayal as he sought him out. As he witnessed that Lang unmasked himself as Linnux, Shade comes off as grudge towards him and decides to teach him a lesson in pain. It is also shown that he also has very little morality, as seen where he was unwilling to trust anyone who gets in his way, stating he was "in the music business, not the hero business". It was also shown that Shade had at least some level of standards, but he presents himself sometimes as sincere considering that he wants to improve the organization to stop causing disasters or hurting people.

However, due to his vendetta towards the music industry, it is just a cover of his former self as behind this, Shade is extremely intelligent, desperate, nefarious, unhinged, ominous, vindictive, dramatic, self-proclaimed, relentless, vituperative, brooding, manipulative, traitorous, embittered, exploitative and ruthlessly destructive. He is more calculating and seems to serve as a tactical businessman, wanting to carry on his father's legacy. He is a tragic individual motivated by the death of his father due to the war on Snow Mountain and ashamed of how the music industry treated him, leading to a bitterly, curmudgeonly, hatefully and dangerously murderous resentment of Norbu and a lust of vengeance. While very arrogant and prideful, he was easily embarrassed and shy about being called "Junior" when he was younger. However, he never shows any signs of cowardice. His almost redeeming quality aside from being somewhat reasonable at times is that he may have forgiven his father for mistreating him. Despite his hypocritical nature, he does shows remorse and genuine feeling when his father died and is not an irredeemable villain.

It is implied that he has a romantic relationship with his old flame Abby.
