Liquid Snake is the main antagonist of the 2019 action-comedy short movie, Metal Gear Solid In 5 Minutes, an adaptation of the video game with the same name.
He is one of the two clones of Big Boss that was made alongside his brother/arch nemesis, Solid Snake. In the climax, it is revealed that he and his brother were part of a super soldier birth program named Les Enfants Terribles. He is also the supreme leader of the terrorist group known as FOXHOUND and Revolver Ocelot’s superior.
He is portrayed by Garrett Hunter, who also portrayed Kaworu Nagisa in Neon Genesis Evangelion In 5 Minutes.
Biography[]
Past[]
Prior to the events of the film, he and Solid Snake were created during the Les Enfants Terribles project. In the project, eight clone embryos were developed after Big Boss' DNA were inserted into egg cells, which were then placed in the womb of a surrogate mother. Six of the embryos were eventually aborted to allow the last two to develop, which would ultimately be Liquid and Solid Snake.
These two were genetically enhanced; one received Big Boss' dominant traits and the other his recessive ones. After nine months, Liquid and Snake were born, but Liquid would come to believe he had received Big Boss' inferior recessive traits and believed that he was the evil twin.
After the project was abandoned in 1976 Eli was taken to be raised in the UK. In 1979, however Eli escaped his handlers in Africa and disappeared. Later on in his life, he would eventually create the infamous terrorist group known as FOXHOUND (a.k.a the Sons of Big Boss) and would infiltrate Shadow Moses, a nuclear test site that housed a gigantic mech suit known as Metal Gear Rex. Liquid Snake would ultimately strap nuclear weapons onto the robot and attempted to blackmail the president into giving him two things; the deceased body of his “father” Big Boss and a billion dollars.
Metal Gear Solid In 5 Minutes[]
Even though he is the main villain and Solid’s central arch enemy, he doesn’t appear in person until the second half of the film, in which Solid Snake and his love interest, Meryll, are knocked unconscious by Sniper Wolf.
Trivia[]
- Liquid Snake was Garrett Hunter’s first role as a villain, the second one being Kaworu Nagisa.
