Haljin (also called Haljinoraptor by his owner) is the main antagonist in the 2024 Monster Horror comic, The Creation and it's fan-made adult animated horror film adaptation, Dark Creation, which is the 1st installment in Tremolandi's Dark Universe.

He is a Bio-Engineered lizard-like monster, who was made by Jake Foster after his beloved friend leaves for collage. He's also a sadistic, evil, cruel, and heartless predator, who was made by Jake as revenge to the world after his beloved friend left for college without getting a chance to say goodbye. This was until Haljin began killing people out of control and even rapes and kills Jake later in 1954.

In the fan-film adaptation, he was voiced by the late John Hurt, who also voiced some of Tremolandi's favorite villians, which include the Horned King and Claudandus from Felidae. In the crossover film with Deadly Friend, he was instead voiced by Bill Capizzi, who also voiced The Wolf King in Chirin no Suzu.

Development[]

Last Year when Damien was leaving with his mom after his IEP meeting, she gave him the the idea to replace Frankenstein for a hybrid of Godzilla, Dinocroc, and other movie creatures. His original design was bipedal, similar to Godzilla, but Mom had Damien instead use the movie Kothoga as a base model for Haljin. It was a perfect result, but with Damien turning 16 and with the release of Godzilla Minus One, Damien decided to redo the story and redesign the creature. This time, making it very slender like Titanus Shimu in order to make it run very fast.

In 2024, it was once again redesigned for it's new story, which is now offically the 1st installment in Tremolandi's own version of Universal's scrapped Dark Universe, culminating in a future crossover TV series.

Design[]

Haljin is a fantastical creature that appears to be a hybrid of various animals, with elements reminiscent of movie monsters like Godzilla. The creature is depicted with intricate design and dark colors, suggesting a dark fantasy or horror origin. Here’s a detailed breakdown of its features:

  • Head: The creature has a head resembling Godzilla Ultima, adorned with sword-like teeth and sharp tusks that resemble the Kothoga’s tusks, indicating a fearsome predator. His eyes are narrow and fierce, adding to his menacing presence.
  • Body: Its body is covered in scales that transition from white to dark grey, hinting at a robust and possibly armored physique. It is very bulky, but it is a little slender than someone might think. It's also very muscular.
  • Limbs: The creature possesses multiple limbs:
    • Wings: Two wing-like structures sprout from its back, adorned with bluish-grey feathers. These wings are both beautiful and deadly.
    • Legs: Its legs resemble those of a land animal, powerful and sinewy. Each clawed foot is adapted for both ground movement and swift leaps.
  • Posture: The creature’s posture is aggressive and dynamic, suggesting readiness for battle. Its muscles ripple beneath its scales, coiled energy waiting to be unleashed.
  • Tail: The tail is long and segmented, starting with dark grey scales at the base and transitioning into feathers towards the tip, which end in 3 deadly spikes, which are hidden by the feathers, serving as a defensive or offensive weapon.

The creature’s design is a testament to the artist’s creativity, blending various monster traits to create a being that is both awe-inspiring and intimidating. The use of color and texture adds depth and realism to the image, making the creature appear lifelike within its fantastical context.

Tremolandi claims that his mother gave him the description of the creature's design, in which Haljin is combined with Godzilla Ultima, Shin Godzilla 4th form, Godzilla Minus One, Dinocroc 2004, Kothoga from the 1997 film The Relic, Velociraptor, and the Jaw Titan.

Personality[]

As to how his story debut with such bloody and graphic violence was mainly because Haljin was undoubtedly and incredibly so merciless he is one creature to be greatly feared. Being a genetically engineered creature built for killing anyone, Haljin is also a cruel, sadistic, and heartless monster, who is fully aware of the death and destruction he causes, and takes pleasure in causing it. His cruelty is most visible when he brutally attacks those without provocation, even laughing cruelly when he kills his victims, such as literally killing his own creator without showing any remorse or regret after refusing to follow Anna's pleas to spare her tragic friend.

This creature is not one to shy away from conflict. It charges headlong into battle, fueled by a primal fury. Its eyes lock onto prey with unwavering focus. It stalks its victims, calculating the perfect moment to strike. The monster would toy with its prey, prolonging their suffering. It might leave survivors to spread tales of its terror, sowing panic and despair, and he even keeps his horrifying and dark behavior no matter what situation. The most evil, sadistic, and cruel monster and an unstoppable killing machine, he can use his claws to attack his victims if they're unlucky enough to be in or near-his presence. He is also incredibly ruthless, as he shows literally NO pity on the victims he claimed. In his crossover with Deadly Friend, he also speaks in a very demonic voice.

Origin[]

Haljin was made by Jake Foster in 1947, following Anna's departure to collage. He was awakened in 1954 and killed her friend when they came by to visit. In the film adaptation, he had a similar origin, but with a classical Frankenstein touch. From the years spanning from 1947 to 1954, he continuously killed people and animals everywhere in Crestwood, and resisted every attempt to stop him, even attempts from a High School, the SWAT Team, and the Police.

History[]

Creation (comic)[]

In 1947, a young boy named Jake Foster sought to get revenge on his former lover Anna, who recently left for College with Jake being unable to say farewell. Driven by vengeance, he devised a plan to create a secret monster that would exact vengeance on humanity for making him suffer. After months of relentless experimentation, Jake successfully brought his creation, a lizard-like beast to life. Fueled by his anger and sorrow, he unleashed the monster upon the world, intending to cause bloody and graphic killings everywhere.

It was a dark and stormy night. 2 thieves begin to go on a robbery, While one thief enters the store, the other thief tries to steal from a Volkswagen van but an unseen creature violently attacks and kills him. The 2nd thief meets the same fate soon after. Several neighbors claimed to have seen a beast in the woods and claim it was the killer in the first place. The police are informed by Kenji about the creature, and are sent to evacuate the neighborhoods and enforce a blackout in the neighborhoods to prevent the beast from attacking. But the unseen monster kills 3 of the cops out of nowhere, mauls a baby, and devours a dog on a tree.

Anna and Jackson decided to visit Jake's desolate home, unaware of the horror that awaited them. The unseen creature attacked, quickly dispatching her friend and driving Anna to flee in terror. In her haste, she stumbled upon a letter Jake had penned, revealing his anguish and regret. It showed her why it is hard losing friends and how it became Jake’s worst nightmare, as he told her she abandoned him to too long. Grief was not fun for Jake and is hard work, as she was the one to was close and dear to him. She broke down in a state of heavy sorrow, haunted by remorse and terror. Refusing to let her beloved and tragic friend succumb to darkness, she recruits Kenji, Max who is also Kenji’s assistant, Mia, Leo, and Zoe in their mission to find him and put an end to the terror, once and for all.

The unseen creature finds shelter in a family's barn and stays there for months without their knowledge, gradually learning to read books, speak, understand humans, and use computers by watching them. He eventually kills the elderly, blind patriarch after murdering an abusive debt collector. When the blind man's family returns, however, they are terrified of the creature and attempt to chase him away, but the feral creature refuses to leave and kills them. The family’s perishing was reported online, which circulates the killer as a grizzly bear that escaped a private zoo. One night, it began following Anna through the woods, and left her to sink in quicksand, but Zoe was able to save her.

At a small house in a small area, a small boy living with his mother and father was helping his dad hang up the clothes to dry over the day. When the mother tells them that lunch is ready, the father has the boy finish hanging up the clothing on the rack, only to feel that the creature is coming right at him. It rams the deck, and the father gets his gun too late, as the monster drowns and violently kills the child. The father, although determined to save the child, proved to be foolish and stupid enough to fall in for the prank the beast held, and is viciously mauled to death underwater.

In the laboratory during a thunderstorm at night, Anna stumbled upon a clue that hinted at the true nature of Jake's secret creation with Mia and Zoe, and with several cops. They stumble on several research notes about Jake and his soon-to-be-revealed creation. Overwhelmed by grief, she broke into tears just as the monstrous Haljin, a monstrous beast, was illuminated by a flash of lightning and ambushed the group, as Haljin savagely mutilated and killed the cops as the others managed to escape, but the monster kept chasing Anna. It suddenly disappears, and the cops are on the lockout for the creature. Out of nowhere, it crushes one’s fist, kicks another cop, then punches another cop, and slices another cop to bloody shreds.

Amidst a thunderstorm, Haljin raids a forest near the city, where nearly all campers get mutilated by some predators almost daily. One psychotic man tried to wrestle the monster after Haljin distracted him from attempting to sexually assault a young teenage girl, and after the man dragged the girl away. The man does indeed wrestle the creature, in which the man initially gained the upper hand, but unfortunately he realizes his stupid idea too late as the enraged monster quickly overpowers and bites a chunk of his neck out and then devouring him as the girl watched in terror.

When Haljin knocks Anna unconscious out of nowhere in her own bedroom, she begins experiencing frightening visions and bizarre hallucinations that continue to haunt her the times she had with Jake. Haljin finds and attacks Jake, who attempts to reason with jake by saying he IS the one who made Haljin. The monster didn’t even care and fights jake, but he gets knocked out when jake kicks him in the crouches, allowing Jake to escape, but not before getting the virus from Haljin. Amidst a raging thunderstorm in the city, Anna was chased by the Haljin inside the tallest tower, but the monster found himself lost. Anna tearfully and eventually located Jake, filled with remorse and seeking reconciliation. Jake was albeit with the virus he made for the monster. Anna gave Jake the chance to kiss her hand for the very first time and, showing empathy, shared a kiss with Jake, and the two attempted to leave together, hoping to bridge the huge gap that had driven them apart, with Anna refusing to leave Jake’s side again.

Realizing that Jake’s on the verge on a change of heart, the enraged monster attacked its creator, leaving Anna desperate to save him. Anna tried to plead with the beast, promising not to abandon Jake again if it would spare her beloved friend. But the monster angrily refused, violently killing Jake before her very eyes, leaving her horrified and devastated. The monster then chases her down, but found himself to be lost again and caught by gears, only to see Anna’s shadow when lightning flashes outside. Following Anna’s escape, Haljin ran back to Jake’s abandoned lab to assess, what just happened. As smart as Anna is, he knows that she is not as smart as Jake was. He remembered how Jake made him extremely smart, so he went back to the house where he killed the old man’s family long ago and finds that Jake revealed that he made Haljin to send out into the world for making Jake himself suffer. The final book Haljin reads even revealed that he himself was made to kill Anna and other humans for making him suffer. He eventually destroys the book and laboratory and vows to eventually find and kill Anna for good.

In an attempt to keep Jake on her side, Anna and Zoe began gathering materials and tools Jake used to create Haljin, in order to bring Jake back. They had Mia, Max, Leo, and Kenji stand outside in preparation to prevent Haljin from entering. While they search around the lab and the grounds, the monster was able to sneak in by opening a window and, despite being to big to fit, broke into the house fully and runs upstairs. While inside the room, she taught a resurrected Jake how to partner dance, and they nearly have sex until Haljin busts through the door without them knowing. Haljin taunts Anna for playing god, who Haljin despises completely. He then lunges at Anna, knocking Jake out and causing a fire as a result. He shouts his final words that this is it before he begins chasing her non-stop.

While the house starts burning to a crisp, Haljin, fueled by an insatiable rage, continues chasing Anna as Jake follows them. The chase ends on the bridge as it continues to rain heavily. Declaring to be the last straw as she won't escape from the monster this time and prevent her from reaching his dirigible where her friends are, Haljin furiously extends his long and strong claws and physically assaults Anna with all of his rage. Managing to knock Anna unconscious, the monster then turned its attention to Anna's terrified companions, snarling and then roaring at them, sending huge chills down their spines. Before Haljin can finally kill Anna, Jake suddenly leaps from the railings and goes berserk on Haljin’s back until Haljin knocks Jake to the floor. Haljin wastes no time into attacking Jake, and the 2 start to fight on the bridge, all of this while in the rain. The 2 are evenly matched until Haljin stabs andneraly liquifies Jake’s side with his 3 tail spikes. When Anna awakens, she climbs the wired railing to escape, but Haljin sees her and rushes to shake the railing in an attempt to have her fall.

Knowing that Anna is going to fall to her death, Mia jumps of the dirigible to save Anna. kenji kept shooting at Haljin’s left eye, but the beast kept healing quickly. Mia sees Anna on the railings and attempts to save her. Haljin finally loses it and tries shaking the gate violently while laughing evilly, and he nearly makes Anna fall until Jake grabs him by the wing-like protrusions, trying to get him away from them. Anna falls off the gate but hangs onto the broken wires that broke during the struggle. As the rain fell heavier, Haljin finally loses it and shakes Jake off his back and tries shaking the railings once again. When Haljin tries to reach for Mia, Zoe manages to push Haljin off the railings, causing Haljin and Jake to get stuck in the wires that caught them.

This, in turn, finally sent Haljin over the edge. Jake shouts for Anna to run just as Haljin enters his enraged breakdown, with Haljin attempting to rip Jake’s neck off, but unfortunately, Haljin has overlooked as the wires tangling them snap and break apart due to their struggle. Failing to escape, Haljin and Jake jettisoned form the wires. For a moment they hung there in the air as if the water could form a net and hold them. Then they went down, down, splat against the water below, and through it. The water reached up and lapped at the splotch of red blood, drawing Jake into the current. His head struck a splash of water and he sank away, out of sight as he intended to kill the now dead monster at the cost of his own life, ridding the threat of Haljin once and for all.

DARK CREATION (film adaptation)[]

TBA

Abilities[]

Superhuman Strength[]

Haljin can raise thousands of pounds to tens of thousands of pounds. Being able to carry out any offensive action with the force of a massive vehicle. He can lift cars, trucks, buses, moderate to large sized rocks, tall trees and are often beyond the physical limits of humans at their maximum. The monster can perform extremely powerful attacks and cause a lot of collateral damage such as destroying large bridges, buildings, heavy vehicles, large trees, and killing huge creatures that require military grade weapons, such as moderate explosives, with only his physical strength.

Sword-like teeth and Incredibly sharp claws[]

Haljin has an unnaturally strong bite, either because of sharp fangs/teeth, strong jaw-muscles, unusual jaw-structure (mandibles of insects) as well as possessing resilience in his teeth/bite-surface and shape. It can easily crush bones and tear through flesh with ease, and could go as far to bite a cow in two.

Because Haljin moves very fast, the monster's claws are described as incredibly sharp, capable of rapidly slashing, violently shredding practically anything in front of him leaving an incredibly gory mess and easily exposing the vital organs of an unarmored enemy. These claws are very dangerous when murdering anyone, capable of disemboweling, impaling, or can be used to climb solid structures.

Sharp Dorsal Plates[]

Haljin could also use his dorsal plates as a secondary physical weapon, using them as a way to pierce opponents at his rear. He can also use them for intimidation, and he used them during his murders in an attack called the Dorsal Slice.

Immunity to conventional weaponry[]

Haljin erects an invisible barrier that deflects attacks. Bullets ricochet harmlessly, and magic dissipates upon contact, but it can’t save Haljin from getting burned alive in fire or getting struck by lightning.

Amphibiousness[]

The beast is able to adapt both water and land. He may be able to easily live in both environments, or he may live indefinitely in one and spend long periods in the other. Although his can swim, he crashed right into the East River after Anna kicked him in the face.

Durability[]

Haljin's physical durability, the ability to withstand damage, is extremely high, allowing him to take numerous blows of internal or external assaults before succumbing to the effects. The creature can withstand bullets, grenades and low to medium explosives (equivalent to ten tons of TNT), survive falling from the top of tall buildings and building collapse, withstand beatings from superhumans, take getting beaten with steel rods and bars, and survive massive amounts of blood loss.

Despite his best effects, Haljin is not really durable enough, as he fell to his death by crashing through the ice below in the comic.

Unmatched Speed and Agility[]

The monster would strike from unexpected angles, using its agility and speed to catch opponents off guard. It might burst through buildings, emerge from underground tunnels, or leap from rooftops. He used his agility to escape the clock inside in order to go after Anna.

Super Regeneration[]

The creature possesses rapid tissue regeneration. Wounds close within moments, allowing it to fight relentlessly. Even severed limbs can regrow, making it a formidable adversary. Injuries that can be healed would be fatal and unsurvivable for regular humans, such as disembowelment/evisceration, horizontal bisection, complete organ destruction, severe damage to the brain, spinal cord and nervous system, impalement, etc. Haljin would be able to regenerate lost limbs or even massive chunks of his own body unless of course to crashes so hard through ice it'll kill him instantly.

Immortally[]

Haljin's regenerative powers also grant him the secret to immortally, as he can never age at all and is unstoppable, despite the heroes' best attempts to get rid of him.

Intelligence[]

The creature would analyze opponents’ vulnerabilities, it might target power sources, communication relays, or critical infrastructure. Over time, the monster would learn from its encounters, and it would adjust its strategy based on opponents’ tactics and weaknesses. He is able to understand humans, to read books and to use computers.

Superhuman senses[]

The monster has extremely accurate senses, allowing him to see, hear, smell, taste and feel better. On this level allows Haljin to perceive small objects, hear distant sounds at different frequencies, detect specific people, objects, substances, or places, locate their origin, and track targets by smelling. He can also automatically detect harmful and beneficial things by tasting and sense vibrations through solids, liquids, and air-pressure. Haljin is also highly resistant to illusion (depending on the level or scale) and can process information at such speeds that time appears to have slowed down, allowing him to perceive what would otherwise be too quick to see/hear and respond appropriately.

Sharp Tusks[]

Haljin's tusks are very sharp, reminiscent of the Kothoga's tusks, capable of piercing deep into anyone's flesh and ripping heads off. They can even tear through computer wires and vital organs.

Talented at Stealth[]

Its scales shift color, blending seamlessly with its surroundings. It becomes nearly invisible, ambushing unsuspecting and unexpected prey out of nowhere. Despite being an Evil Creation, this monster is no stranger to stealth capabilities, enabling him to easily slip in and out of areas undetected. His abilities in all manners of stealth are so refined he appears as mere illusions to those who have been lucky to spot the beast. He is highly skilled at stealth and can move throughout even the most guarded of areas and act in true discretion.

Wall Climbing[]

Haljin, either innately or through training, is a master of climbing, able to climb and otherwise move effortlessly and smoothly on angled and/or vertical surface and take advantage of any handholds he finds, no matter how small, on trees, rocks, walls, etc. This is mostly done as a type of vertical ascent. Haljin along with superhuman strength or with super strong and dense claws could simply dig his fingers or claws into a surface, then propelling upward and digging in again, generating the effect of wall-crawling. In some cases, the creature may simply be able to make use of any handholds they find, no matter how small, to wall climb.

Feral Instincts[]

This creature is not one to shy away from conflict. It charges headlong into battle, fueled by a primal fury. Its eyes lock onto prey with unwavering focus. It stalks its victims, calculating the perfect moment to strike. The monster would toy with its prey, prolonging their suffering. It might leave survivors to spread tales of its terror, sowing panic and despair.

Weaknesses[]

Despite being almost impossible to defeat, Haljin still demonstrates a few weaknesses

In the comic, his anger gets the best of him, as during his struggle with Jake, the wires that tangled them began to snap and send them both falling and crashing through the ice below, killing them both.

Roar[]

It's roar and sound effects are made by Daniel Knight from the Hyles Baptist Church. The creature’s signature roar or sound would likely be a multi-layered and complex audio experience, designed to evoke a sense of awe and terror. Drawing inspiration from the iconic roars of movie monsters like Godzilla, the sound would be both otherworldly and deeply resonant. Here’s a conceptual description of what it might entail:

  • Base Tone: A deep, guttural growl that rumbles like an earthquake, conveying the creature’s immense size and power.
  • High-pitched Screams: Layered atop the base are piercing shrieks that tap into primal fears, reminiscent of the cries of predatory birds or the screech of metal.
  • Otherworldly Echoes: A haunting reverberation that gives the impression the roar is coming from another dimension, adding to the creature’s mystique.
  • Subtle Undertones: Low-frequency sounds that are felt more than heard, creating an unsettling effect that can unsettle and disorient those who hear it.The roar would be designed to be as memorable and distinctive as Godzilla’s, which was crafted with a variety of techniques, including manipulating creaky doors and recording sounds beyond human hearing, then remixing them into audible frequencies. The roar would not only signal the creature’s presence but also serve as a sonic representation of its character—evil, cruel, merciless, ruthless, and heartless. It would be a sound that once heard, is never forgotten, echoing through the ruins of Crestwood and chilling the spines of all who dwell there.

In the context of movie monsters, there are often specific moments when the creature’s roar is particularly devastating and memorable. These moments are usually pivotal points in the narrative that serve to establish the monster’s power and the threat it poses. Here are a few scenarios where the roar might be especially impactful:

  • The Monster’s Introduction: The first time the creature makes its presence known, its roar can be a powerful tool to instill fear and awe both in the characters within the story and the audience.
  • A Display of Dominance: When asserting its dominance over other creatures or confronting the protagonists, the creature’s roar can be a show of strength and a warning sign of the devastation it’s capable of unleashing.
  • The Climactic Battle: During the climax of the story, as the creature faces off against the heroes or another monster, its roar can underscore the intensity of the confrontation and the stakes involved.
  • A Moment of Triumph: If the creature overcomes an obstacle or defeats an enemy, its roar can be a triumphant declaration of its victory.

These moments are crafted to leave a lasting impression, making the creature’s roar a signature sound that echoes throughout the narrative, symbolizing the horror and destruction that the monster represents.

Villainous Acts[]

  • Killed several humans, animals, and little children for sport, even killing a small birthday child on his birthday.
    • Literally killing a human baby while the other teens didn't know about the murder.
  • Brutally killing Anna’s boyfriend Jackson while laughing evilly.
  • Continually peruses Anna non-stop.
  • Refuses to follow Anna’s pleas and kills his former creator anyway.
  • After finding that Anna's shadow has been illuminated, he was filled with rage and chased her non-stop.
  • In the comic, he assaulted Anna until she is knocked unconscious, only for Jake to save Anna by struggling with Haljin, but the wires that tangled them both snap and break apart, sending both Jake and Haljin to their deaths through the icy waters below.
    • While Jake's death was played sympathetically, even Anna tried to save his life, Haljin's well-deserved but violent death was played for complete satisfaction as he completely deserved it for the crimes and murders he himself committed.
  • Despite being an Evil Creation or some-sort of Bio-Weapon, Haljin has an extremely clear moral agency through his acts of sadism, rapes, and abuse, making him more than just a generic monster.
    • Abuses, Rapes, and Traumatizes Anna throughout the movie, who easily assaulted her when she tried to escape with her very life, almost making his behavior the same like satan himself. These moments especially one time he raped Jake makes him more of a monster than he already is.

Trivia[]

  • Haljin was the first monster to be made by Damien Endy.
  • His sounds are made by Daniel Knight.
  • Haljin was made as a replacement on Frankenstein's Monster. However, unlike Frankenstein's Monster who is tragic, Haljin was made for sadistic, sinister, cruel, and violent purposes, as Haljin was made to cause murders everywhere. Frankenstein's Monster wanted to get revenge on his master, but Haljin is already hateful and cruel towards Jake, and he viciously rapes and kills Jake out of sheer sadism.
  • Let's go over a comparison with Haljin and Samantha Pringle:
    • Samantha has been Paul's love he has ever dreamed of, and their friendship became nothing but kind and loving. But in Dark Creation however, the relationship between Haljin and Jake Foster is incredibly toxic, as the fact that Haljin treats Jake like trash makes him more of a monster than he already is.
    • Both characters fell to their presumed deaths and survived. Samantha's heartless father, Harry, pushed her down the stairs when he finds that she was with Paul, and Paul uses BB to keep his beloved. Haljin never had any of this.
    • Both fell to their true deaths in the climaxes. Samantha was kicked in the face by Paul so hard that she went over the railing and crashed into the icy water below. Haljin meet the same fate, but his death along with jake in the comic is a similar case with the deaths of both The Dove and Fagin from the Danish film War of the Birds.
    • Both have different behaviors. Samantha was initially killing people including Tom, but began to regain some of her humanity before dying. Haljin on the other hand is incredibly sinister and intelligent and is never redeemable at all. When Samantha calls out Paul's name, she began to be filled with rage and started to run towards Paul to save him, but Haljin had a similar rage as Professor Ratigan, and he violently attacks Anna before he and a revived Jake share a death in the icy waters.
  • On Damien's Facebook account, he revealed that the design is completed on his PC, but what time or day he'll begin to draw it is unclear. In 2024, he finished the drawing of the 3rd redesign, but placed a watermark on it so it wouldn't be taken at all.
  • For his crossover with Deadly Friend, he was originally considered to be voiced by Vincent Price (voiced Ratigan), Brian Dobson and Richard Ian Cox, 2 voice actors that voiced D-Stroy and Splitter in Dinotrux.
  • Haljin is the first original hybrid monster made by Tremolandi, the next one coming soon.
