Gizelle Thompkins, also known in her disguised identity as The Grim Reaper, is a major character in the Road to Heaven franchise, serving as a major protagonist and anti-heroine in Road to Heaven, the deuteragonist of Road to Heaven 2: Almost There, and the main antagonist of the final installment and e-book Road to Heaven: Promises.

She is the wife of Darren Thompkins, the mother of Jeremiah Thompkins and a crime lord which the entire country of the US fears, known as The Grim Reaper as she holds a secret identity. She is also a friend of Tom McCoinner and a former lead female member of John Al's crew. Her current goals are to end her loneliness, reunite with her son at all costs and kill whoever she sees as a possible threat towards him.

History[]

Beginnings[]

Gizelle was part of John Al's crew and a close ally of his two fellow friends and gang members, Tom McCoinner and Edward Miiton. She was kidnapped by Byron near the end of the first fanfilm, but McCoinner helped her escape him and The Agency.

Afterwards, she befriended Darren Thompkins and eventually the two of them got married and they vowed to each other to stay together and live a normal life for the good of their son Jeremiah, away from John Al and his gang.

Eventually, The Agency together with Diego Marston manage to cooperate and eliminate Darren Thompkins. At some point, Jeremiah lived his own life, away from Gizelle, and he managed to kill Diego near a river.

Gizelle ever since that moment lived her life in full loneliness, descending into insane villainy and becoming a cruel and horrible woman. She eventually devised a scheme to have her revenge on the world and finally reunite with Jeremiah and kill whoever she sees as a threat towards him or someone who's corrupting him. During that period, she became a crime lord known as The Grim Reaper, and nobody knew who is behind the mask. At some point, she dealt with Agent Maxwell Byron who didn't know it's actually Gizelle and he was tasked to eliminate Jeremiah for a certain amount of money.

Road to Heaven: Promises[]

Gizelle starts off as she assumes the identity The Grim Reaper and travels into the woods inside a large valley area. After Jeremiah saves Richard "Richie" Ipkiss and Maya Cobroth from The Reaper's wrath, the fearsome crime lord travels to a recognized farmland and kills Bob Ipkiss (the father of Richie and his brother, who was previously killed by The Reaper). Inside the farmland, he encounters Bob, who remembers the criminal whom killed his own son and ordered his dogs to attack the crime lord. The Reaper then used his scythe to cut the throats of all the dogs, and despite Bob's plea for mercy, The Grim Reaper took a knife out of his pocket and stabbed him twice in the heart.

The Reaper then travels back to town during the night, in order to find information about Jeremiah's whereabouts. After scaring off the agents and then betraying and therefore killing Maxwell Byron, the criminal unmasks him/herself and is surprisingly revealed to be Gizelle, the mother of Jeremiah who is now an elderly, ruthless woman.

Jeremiah's wife Maria asks her why she is doing what she does and killing many people. Gizelle replies that since her son walked out of her life, she lived a life which was full of misery and total loneliness. With her son gone and many people she couldn't trust, she lost her sanity and morals, and she became a ruthless crime woman who dresses up as "The Grim Reaper", as her ultimate masterplan was to get revenge on the world which she sees is corrupt and threatening, to dispose of whoever she saw as a possible future threat towards Jeremiah including Joseph and Maria, and to finally reunite with her son and become happier again.

Gizelle then burnt down Jeremiah's house with a torch. Luckily, Maria and Joseph escaped. Gizelle also escaped the fire and she quickly put on her Reaper costume as she rid on her horse to the forest lands to reunite with Jeremiah.

Without her noticing, Maria and Joseph follow her on their own horse. The Grim Reaper eventually reaches Jeremiah, who doesn't recognize her and immediately points at her a gun. The Reaper unmasks herself. Realizing it is his own mother Gizelle, Jeremiah starts crying very loudly and asks her why she did all her evil acts.

Gizelle out of obsession and need for a family reunion walks towards Jeremiah with open arms and tells him that none of this matters now as it is all behind them. Gizelle hugs Jeremiah, but he stabs her for whatever she did.

As the reunion fails, she aims a gun at Jeremiah and asks him if he wants to waste his life and die for people who threaten him and made his mother suffer. Before she could do anything to her own son illogically, Maria backstabs her.

Personality[]

Gizelle is egoistical and she only cares about herself. However, she used to be a kind and good-hearted woman who was easy to go with and she loved everyone and was always willing to help people.

She did however assist John Al in his crimes, directly and indirectly, until she married Darren and the two lived a normal life far from trouble made by John Al and his crew. Darren had to pay the price as Diego Marston killed him, but Jeremiah as a result went to live a life elsewhere and get his revenge on Diego, thus leaving his mother alone in an environment which she felt was cold, unloved, wrathful and very lonely and miserable.

She suffered for many years and she thought that her long gone son is the solution and therefore, she became an insane crime lord, obsessed with a family reunion and willing to eliminate anyone she saw as a threat in her own hypocritical, delusional way.

Near the end of Promises, she was willing to exact revenge on her own son and killing Jeremiah for rejecting her reunion offer. A few seconds later, she paid her price.

Trivia[]

• Even before she became the villain of the final installment / ebook, she was a deeply conflicted woman, sometimes she was hot-headed, and she aided John Al until she betrayed him for a good purpose. She was more of an anti-heroine in the first fanfilm, as she became a fully redeemed heroine in the second, and descended into full villainy in the final round.
• As the Grim Reaper, she was described as someone who had a deep male voice.
• She is second last villain to die, just before her goons, making her the final antagonist of the entire franchise (so far).
